What was your first car?

Got a conversation started with one of my MFP mentors about first cars. Mine was a 1975 Chevy Nova with Kelly Super Charger tires
on Crager mag wheels, Glasspack mufflers, and a four in rear lift kit. Paid for it myself with the money from my job bagging groceries.
I forgot to mention it had a awesome stereo with a 8 track player! :) For those of you that don't know what a 8 track is, refer to google. :)

1981 Ford Fairmont, my dad bought it for me - cheap. It was awful! Two tone blue and there was an oil leak INSIDE the car from the after market gauges mounted on the dash.

Believe it or not, my fiancee purchased a 1990 Pontiac 600 LE a few months ago! To go to and from work, his nice truck was to much on gas, and other people kept hitting his car with the semi truck doors. ( The car just took a crap, but he will fix it.)

    I had a K-Reg Ford Escort. 1992, apparently.

I bought it when I was learning to drive the first time around, but I never passed my test. I used it once or twice as shelter when I had to sleep rough, but when I moved away I sold it. Still, as a shelter it proved its worth - it cost me £300 and I sold it for similar.

Nearly half a decade later, I learnt to drive again. I bought a 1998 R-Reg Vauxhall Corsa. This time, I actually passed. It's a great little car, had 30k mileage when I bought it three years ago. It's up to almost 50k now - has had a few small issues, and the transmission is going so it takes longer to change gear (automatic), but it should last a few more years. If it's still going when I can afford something new, I'll donate it to a local teenager learning to drive. It's cheap to run and to insure, as far as UK cars go.

I was 18 years old, yes, 18. I saved money from my first job, flipping burgers at Hardee's and it cost me $600! It was a 1985 Chevy Impala, light blue, minor rust, a nice rust hole under the gas peal, but a crossbeam kept enough support. The car had snow tires on the rear when we bought it, and WOULD NOT pass emmisions, I had to redo all the wires, the O2 sensor, and catalytic converter! So I put in about another $1,000 of work into it. near the end I had some problems, had to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running, when first starting it, a leak in the radiator. As far as the cassette stereo, well it was possesed. It would turn on when it wanted, and then shut off, so I had a boombox in my car for the stereo. I miss that car! ( I even waxed it) My second car was a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, 4 door, and I now own a 2003 Chevy Impala, I love my Impala, in fact, my old man has a 1965 Chevy Impala SS ragtop, it eeds restoration, but I have dibs on that car! thelma and Louise here I come, yes, it is red!

2001 Volkswagen Beetle. Bought it used, all on my own, and had it paid for by the time I was a freshman in college. That car took me everywhere, and could parallel park like no one's business.

It also had a tape deck. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I kinda miss my cassette tapes melting in the car console during the summer. So much fun to try and pry the welded plastic off the car parts.
