I've been told I pronounce "horror" like "*kitten*" :grumble:
Honestly I think I do too.
I never noticed until I was having a conversation with an ex and his family about going to see a movie. I said I was in the mood for a horror movie...and they all looked at me like I'd lost my mind.0 -

Omg...THIS!!!
My son actually got in trouble at school because he said he liked "*kitten* Movies" (horror)
Geez..like I actually let him watch porn!! I was so angry at his wacky teacher....Madea Time!!!
I've since taught him how to pronounce it correctly....so that his teacher wouldn't get her panties in a bunch.0 -
You should be from where I was born and raised... and leave off all your "r"s. Like Lobstah, cah, front yahd, and then move south and add a southern Y'all to your lobstah! :drinker:
Massholes! :drinker:0 -

I say "tomorrow" funny. I guess most people say "two-maw-row", and I say "two-more-oh." There are also a few other words, which I can't think of at the moment, but most are Midwestern things, since my grandparents both lived in Minnesota and were Norwegian.
I also call mail "post", which is more British, but my grandfather grew up on a farm in the depression, and they didn't say mail, they said "Can you go pick up the post today?" So I often say "post" in place of "mail" without thinking. My boyfriend gives me all kinds of crap for it when I forget.0 -
I get made fun of alot as I am originally from Newfoundland, Canada(Irish accent) but I now live on Cape Cod, MA - so I have the Irish accent mixed in with the Boston accent - so needless to say, there are alot of words I do not pronouce correctly - but thats my appeal :happy:0

Extraordinary
If something is kind of plain, it is ordinary..
If something is really plain, it is extra-ordinary.
If something is Great, it is EXTRAORDINARY.0 -
I'm from the north of England and my husband is from the south - I'll pronounce things like bath and giraffe like how they're written whereas he'll pronounce them barth, girarffe...he's always taking the p!ss out of me for it lol!!0

It bugs me when people say car-mul instead of cair-uh-mel for caramel. THERE IS AN 'A' IN THERE! PRONOUNCE IT!
And when people say "crown" instead of crayon. That's not even kind of how it's spelled. Cray-on.
This.
I say "bagel" weird. For some reason when I say it out loud it becomes "begal." And apparently I say "toilet" weird. I don't know how I say it weird but my family makes fun of me for it.0 -

I'm Canadian, which means I pronounce half my vocabulary different.
Pasta, drama, latte with the same a as SLAT, FLAT, MAT instead of Pahsta, Drahma, Lahtte
Dude, no. I'm Canadian too and it is weird as hell when you randoms say "PA-sta" "DRA-ma" and such.0 -

LOL!!. I have interesting accents. I have a southern texas accent with northern speech speed and a little yiddish influence. And when I get tired (tierd), I don't really keep it in check.
oyve = geez
ain't = aren't
y'all = you all
don' - Don't
Youston = Houston
There is a huge list. Just listen to Jeff Foxworthy's red neck terms. I do most of them.0 -
My Canadian Husband struggle here in England at times, the most strange thing is that I like to drink Archers schnapps with lemonade and THREE times now in bars he has been given ORANGE juice and lemonade instead of Archers...it must be how he says it lol0

I have incorporated a little colloquialism from every place I've lived:
South Africa - cheers (used like thanks, or hi, or whatever you want it to mean), lekker (lecka) for good, or delicious, or whatever.
New Jersey - cawfee, dawg
Berlin - Scheisse (so much more effective than cussing in English)
Dallas - ya'll, fixin ta
Boston - pahk, cahd, yahd
I'm six feet tall and play rugby though, so who's going to give me Scheisse for how I tawlk?0
