Yay! I have hit my goal for this month! I am not going to change the goal for the month as I have decided to increase my calories to match my growing appetite  so next week is going to be all about maintaining my loss so far this month and hopefully start losing again the following week.

Well done to everyone on their loss so far & best of luck for the final week!

    1st May = 177.6
    5th May = 178.8 (+1.2)
    12th May = 177.6 (-1.2)
    24th May = 176.0 (-1.6)

Happy that I've lost 2.8lbs since 5th May - but disappointed that monthly total lost so far is only 1.6.

However, I am feeling much fitter and have a better body shape than I have had in a long time, I'm loving the exercise I do, I find it energises me and de-stresses me too, especially commuting on a bike as you can declutter your head on the journey home. Let's see if I can lose another 1.5 lbs this week to at least make 3lb lost in May!

Yay! Well done Frannybobs! A loss is a loss no matter how 'big' or 'small'! I know you are not where you hoped you would be by now but you haven't given up and that is the main thing! Keep doing what you are doing ... you will get there :flowerforyou:

Belle - congrats on reaching this month's goal!!

Fran - you're headed in the right direction. I'm proud of you for not giving up!

I am constantly struggling. I am tired this week  , and seem to eating non-stop. Some of it is healthy, some of it is definitely not. Anyone have any psychological tips for staying motivated? Nothing seems to be working for me lately to convince myself to not eat the unhealthy stuff and to get out and exercise more. Pretty simple, but sooo hard to do.

Thanks Belle & DMG and yes, well done Belle - you've smashed May's goal - well done, you deserve it :-D

As for where the motivation comes back from when it's disappeared - if only I could know the answer to that and bottle it I'd be a pretty rich person! I lost a little bit more than where I am last year and then put it all back on and 4 extra pounds for fun over the space of 3 months - Oct to Dec. I just couldn't find the motivation at the end of last year to get back on the wagon. I'm trying to think what made me get back on it in January. I think it was feeling fat and horrid in my clothes, my jeans started splitting at the thigh seams. Oh I remember what it was - photos of me from the office xmas party and my face looked fat and a big tummy as well, and I decided to work out a new plan.

I went back to planning meals (easier for me though as I only have myself to worry about) and allowing myself a few more cals to play with so I didn't feel denied. Of course I'm reversing that at the moment and going back to 1200 cals BUT as I'm exercising more it's not often only the 1200 cals I will have to play with. I was doing pointless snacking on biscuits/cookies at night which I did purely because I had the cals there. Plus being a bit more restrained at weekend may give me more to play with at a weekend when I like to see friends, and I'm not in control of what meals I have - oh and have some wine of course!!

What worked for you before when you've lost weight in the past - can you put your finger on it. I know that not seeing this as a diet is a major thing for me as it stops me bingeing if nothing is "denied" - whether it be chocolate or bread or whatever, Also eating more low GI foods helps too - wholewheat or wholegrain where possible - as it keeps you fuller for longer

Keep at it - I'm sure you'll turn a corner really soon :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Fran!! You're so supportive. I think I need to do some 'soul-searching' and get my butt in gear for an active healthy summer. I need to get better at prepping healthy foods in advance, getting into a regular exercise schedule, etc. I have been trying to 'wing it', but I just can't do that with a full-time job and two kids at home. And of course, because no one in my house will eat the healthy things I want to eat, it makes it hard to cook for everyone. (i.e. most meals for my kids and hubby are carb-intensive, with no veggies - exactly the opposite of my diet) Also, I have tried and tried, but I just cannot log my foods on a daily basis, which I guess is totally couter to the whole point of MFP! :ohwell:
