I love Glenn Beck and I listen to Rush Limbaugh whenever I can.

I'm also an atheist, I support gay marriage, the right to choose and I'll do almost anything to save the whales.

    I also voted for Bush....twice.

    Sue me.

Are you also a vegetarian who lobbies for the beef industry?

A pacifist who votes for war?

A feminist who is a member of the "Women shouldn't vote" party?

You can say you believe or support anything. It's your actions that prove it or disprove it.

    Repeating what I said yesterday:

people are so off when they say things like "people were always this screwed up, we just know about all of it now because of advances in technology"

People are more screwed up today, period. And I don't really have much hope for the continued existence of mankind, or even our society....because nobody values anything, but especially the desensitization of all the disgusting things that go on in society and how little value people place on life.

I have very little hope because there are so many crazy a-holes out there and it makes me sick.

to the disabled vet... I am PROUD of our soldiers and our vets. I feel that our "freedoms" are being slowly stripped away by both the right and left wing. I am not proud to be an american. I am proud of my family, I am proud when I see someone do what is right. England, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, these countries are doing a better job than we are at the moment.

Well, the left wing hasn't been in power in the US for over 4 decades so it's unlikely they are the ones eroding your freedoms. Look to the right and you'll find your answer. Think FISA, Patriot Act, demonization of gays, women, atheists, etc. The left isn't our problem.

    True.

When there are no 5+ year old kids waiting to be adopted then your argument about "all those poor families who want to adopt a baby" as a rebuttal against abortion will hold water. Until then those "poor, childless couples" are nothing more than selfish jerks who are ignoring all those slightly older kids.

I want to adopt and older child but at the moment can't as the state of Sinaloa, Mexico won't adopt to single parents.. Makes me so angry with the amount of children needing homes and single parents around they discriminate against me, someone who could easily afford to feed another mouth or two.

its like you have to be perfect in order to adopt, but yet theres so many people that want to adopt but cant. then its stated that these children need to be adopted. single parents, gay couples, an aquaintance of mine told one agency she was vegetarian and thats why they refused her. she didnt tell the next one and they let her adopt. and she wanted an older child, not a baby. i probably couldnt because i probably have too many animals. its so sad. thats why i think a lot of people adopt outside of the country.

    Right, knew there were more

Again, if you study Mao and what he advocated, you'll realize that his regime had all the indicia of a religion. Blind adherence to ideology and complete submission to authority. That is religion. What he did wasn't in the name of atheism. Sorry.

Do any atheists hold an ideology of any sort?
Not just you, but in general. I mean can they be socialist, libertines, Marxist etc?
I think you said that Hitler was a Christian, maybe just not the kind I like.
Communist dictators committed atrocities in the name of Communism which I agree can have similarities to a religion.
But they are atheist, maybe just not the kind you like or want to be associated with.

edit to add; I'm not arguing for or against the existence of God; just debating the popular notion that most evil committed in the world comes from religion.

Is this a real question? It's a bit like asking if atheists can be blonde, tall, women, etc.

The social stigma that women should be a certain way and men should be a certain way that is so ingrained in our society is utterly sad. (If you're going to argue that this doesn't exist.... Just... Just stop right there and don't talk to me, please)

Thursdays are the worst days of the week. Mondays are the best weekdays of the week. Sundays are the best days of the week.

    Summer sucks. Winter is amazing.

I agree with all of this. Tuesdays are also pretty bad days too!

    Just to add:

Dogs aren't that great of pets
Socialism and Communism are not evil
Capitalism isn't either, but when it gets unregulated too much, it can be for the "have-nots"
    Flinstones vitamins are disgusting
It's fun to give speeches in front of an audience.
Alexander Graham Bell was a di ckface. He was a Eugenicist, and thought that deaf people should not be able to have children.
Tosh.0 is not funny at all.
White people should stop b!tching about being a "minority" (this is coming from a white person too.)
Disabled people should not be required to pay for their own personal care assistants while in college or in a low-paying job

ETA: It's impossible for somebody else's marriage to be against your religion. (sorry to drag this back in) if your religion dictates that you cannot marry somebody of the same gender, don't. That's all there is to it.
Also, marriage is not sacred. You can get married in a drive-through in Vegas. If it only takes as much effort to get married as it does to get a McDouble, it's not sacred.

I'm a socialist libertarian living in the deep South. I can't throw a rock without pissing in someone's cornflakes. If I have a political opinion, most likely no one else around here will agree with me.

With kids, most of the time it's the parent's fault. You can blame teacher's, the school system, genetics, Satan, Santa Clause, the grandparents, or fate... but it's the parent's fault.

I think fudge is over rated. gah.

I'm for the death penalty and abortion. I guess I'm pro-death.

I hate cell phones. I wish they had never been invented. And if you keep looking down at your phone while you're "talking" to me, I will feel no regret about sucker punching you in the left eyeball.

I hate Friends, Seinfeild, and How I Met Your Mother. Sue me.

I have too many Christian friends on Facebook. I have no idea how they prayed before they could share it with everyone they've known since 7th grade.

My atheist friends annoy me just as much as my Christian friends. I mean really, don't complain about proselytizing when your entire world revolves around talking people out of something they find comforting.

I shun any electronic with an i in front of it out of hand.

I like hippy chicks but I wish they'd shave their pits.

I don't like cats. I don't want to watch them on youtube. I don't want to hear about your 20 beautiful baby cats and all the cute things they did over the weekend. I really think you need to get laid.

Why are you unhappy? Cause you allow yourself to be. Suck it up.

Gay men cut hair better than straight ladies. And don't seem to have the urge to turn your head into a poodle like the latter.

Some babies are ugly. I'm sorry.

    Marry me?

I would but gay marriage and polygamy are both illegal in my state. We could, however, start a cult and ignore all the rules. We could call it Jonestown 2: New and Improved and deliciously Kool-Aid free.

Can I be included in your cult? I've read two of your posts already and decided that you're sexy.

I agree, I love going to the dentist more that going to the hairdressers.

Me too! I haven't cut my hair in about 3 years because not once in my 40 years....NOT ONCE....has a hair dresser cut my hair correctly. Apparenlty curly hair is just too complicated to get right!

I'd rather have a root canal than walk out of a salon looking like I have a red afro on my head.

I love to have my hair messed with. Cut, brushed, shamppoed, just touched in general. Yeah, I know I am weird.

Woah....let's not go there at all. Hitler was NOT a Christian. I dont care if he used the name of God or not.........Hitler was also very curious about the occult, should we call him a Wiccan? Heck no because then the Wiccan's would freak out. Hitler was a monster.....not a Christian.

I meant that I'm pretty sure he identified himself as Christian... I thought this was widely known? I'm not using this to rag on religion, coz by that logic all Germans are horrible coz Hitler was German, which obviously isn't true... the poster just said all those men weren't religious, and I'm just clarifying by pointing out that Hitler was in fact religious...

I know what you mean. Sorry if I seemed confrontational, really not trying to be that struck a chord in me. Hitler claimed to be Christian, wanting to purify it by removing the Jewish influence. That in itself dismisses his claim of Christianity considering he would have to purify Christianity of it's core which is Jesus Christ. Therefore, he was not Christian.

Sorry, but that is the No True Scotsman fallacy. Hitler was a Catholic. He was raised a Catholic and never disavowed his belief in Jesus Christ. You may not like what he did (who does?) but he was a Christian.
A person sitting around barking like a dog does not make that person a dog. There is my friend a religion which is called christian and then there is real Christianity which is accepting the work that Christ did upon the cross. There is a reason why Jesus himself said Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Being pregnant is disgusting to me, and having children is a waste of time for most people. It's 2012 but i'm still expected to want to rear young and have a big virginal ceremony pledging myself to a man because to society i'm basically a uterus with legs.

    That felt good.

After having a kid, I can agree with you that being pregnant is not the wonderful shot of sunshine up your posterior it is made out to be in pop culture. Most days I was torn between shooting myself after vomiting all day or illegal substance abuse to make my back pain bearable. Let's not mention the fact that every time I coughed, vomited, sneezed, laughed, or said bloody Mary, I peed my pants. I hope to not repeat the experience again.

And as for the rest of it, before I got married I wrote a blog (yes, they had those in 2000) that was pretty popular about how marriage was essentially intended to be an exchange of cattle with a vagina added on as a bonus prize, and how I would never be part of the patriarchal ponzi scheme that, to this day, was a ploy to get women to willingly give up their wealth and power.

Yeah, about that. February of 2013 will be my 10 year wedding anniversary. lol Good luck holding out, I'm rooting for you!

** Edited to note that I disagree with having kids being a waste of *MY* time. I've greatly enjoyed it, and if it weren't for that whole pregnancy thing I might have had a houseful.

You, Tia, make my heart sing.

I hope it's not singing a country western song, those are so sad.

**Edited to note that the only country song I currently know is Red Solo Cup, and that it is indeed a sad sad song.

If you play a country song backward, you get your house back, your car back, your wife back and your dog back. But apparently not your chihuahua, since it's not really a dog.

Here is my MOST UNpopular.... And I expect every teacher to start bitc*ing. because... thats what they do best ;)

I'm SO SICK OF HEARING TEACHERS B***H.
I have NEVER in my life, heard a person B***H more than a teacher. You don't make enough money, you don't have enough time off... why are people expecting you to teach the kids how to pass tests??? BECAUSE THATS YOUR EFFING JOB!?!?! thats why!

You knew what you were getting into when you DECIDED to be a teacher. You knew you were under paid and under appreciated! But you chose it anyway. PROBABLY because you got a couple months off WITH PAY. You have a few months off PAID for vaca... and thats not even including EVERY federal holiday AND several other "teacher catch up days" You still get paid salary.... dental, medical.... and you are STILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL whining?!?!?!

YES.... I do expect you to work, and I still expect you help my kids pass a test. Even the big ones like, SOL's, PSAT's, FCATS, Whatever... And I expect you to be judged on your ABILITY TO TEACH KIDS, because, after all... it is your job... AS A TEACHER.

    forgot Mao 100 million plus

Atheism is simply a position that opposes a particular subset of religion (theism). There are many other types of religion that don't involve theistic gods (animism, animatism, ancestor worship, and certain religions that are more closely related to ethical systems than anything else). Atheists come in all stripes: libertarians, socialists, Marxists, republicans, democrats, and so forth. If you look at history you'll be hard-pressed to find any regime at any time in history that killed in the name of atheism. But, the same can't be said for religion, especially Christianity, Islam and Judaism. I'm not sure that most evil in the world is committed in the name of religion. That's probably not the case. People don't rob and murder, for the most part, in the name of some god. It's when religion becomes inextricably mixed with government that the problems arise. People often argue for allowing religion in the public square. The problem with that is that there are hundreds of religions but only one public square. Others argue, at least here in America, that the Founding Fathers were Christians (most weren't actually. Most were deists). I'm not interested in the religion of the Founding Fathers. I'm interested in their politics. And, wisely they set up a nation that mandated the separation of churches and the state.

    My unpopular opinions:
Twilight was a horrible book serious and even worse movie
Religion was created by man who needed to fill their parental complex i.e. God, goddess, to explain things.
There are things that can not be explained by using science or religion
The american two party system has failed the people but the people are to damn lazy to stand up to it.
