There are some suspicious links on that page. Just a warning to all you gullible people.

I thought the article was spammy. So, go to Tom Venuto's site. He is highly credible.

What did you choose in the area that asked for Exercise Level? If you choose Sedentary than you would add your exercise calories back into your day. If like me, you choose 5 times per week, then your exercise calories are aldready included in the numbers they give you so you would not eat them back. Does that make sense?
This is what it tells me:

    Monday 2205 1764 1384
    Tuesday 1764 1411 1384
    Wednesday 2646 2117 1661
    Thursday 2205 1764 1384
    Friday 1984 1588 1384
    Saturday 2425 1940 1523
    Sunday 2205 1764 1384

I want to start with the extreme fat loss to get over this plateau that I have been on for months now. So, for example, on Monday I need to eat 1384 calories. Does this mean I don't count exercise calories? It's just a flat 1384 calories?

Me to, it gave me an extra 400 calories that I could eat per day. I better stick to MFP. LOL

I read it as you don't worry about exercise calories as you have already calculated that in when you put down what you exercise (3 x week; 5 x week, etc). If I'm reading this wrong - someone let me know. I think I am going to try this as I have been trying to lose for a while now and haven't even had a chance to plateau as I haven't even lost - lol. I've been doing the eat more to lose weight since I am pretty active, but have only dropped a couple pounds. I've looked into the zigzagging and have thought about doing it before. Maybe we should start a group for this as it would help to keep our comments and questions all in one place?

It is probably giving you more calories than MFP because it is not expecting you to eat back your exercise calories (depending on what options you choose). MFP is one of the only calculators which does not include daily exercise in your calorie alotments for the day, that's why we eat them back on this site.

Yup it works well. Professional use it to become leanest for competition. Read about Tome Venuto and Fed Hatfield who are the main proponents of this.

hmm...interesting will save in case I stop losing. Thanks!

    This sounds incredible!
  • Thanks for posting this. I checked it out and for extreme fat loss most days I would eat 1440, with high days 1585 & 1728. I have been eating around 1500 a day & trying to burn 1000 to 1500 calories a day. This is working for me, I've lost 13 lbs. in three weeks. I'm going to pass it on to my niece who is having a hard time losing since she had her baby.

for those of you questioning about eating exercise calories back, here is my .02....

from the website "Try not to lower your calorie intake by more than 1000 calories below maintenance. Doing so may invoke the bodies starvation response, which can lead to the Yo-yo dieting effect."

I take this to mean if you green number at the end of the day (calories left) is more than 1000, then you need to eat more food until you have that number at 1000 or below until you net your calories for that day whether it be 1300 or 1800. For example if you have 1200 (in the green) left for the day, eat as close to 200 calories as possible to get to 1000. I don't personally think going over a 1000 a day or 2 here and there is going to hurt, but then again I am not a doctor or nutritionist.

    Again just my opinion....
