LOOKING FOR WOMEN OVER 40

Sounds like a pick up line, huh?

Actually I am hoping to find support from women with the same sort of issues as I have. Women over 40 have physical challenges others don't have or understand. I am 46 and starting to experience signs of menopause. Gone are the days when I could eat slim fast for a month and loose 20 lbs. It's a constant struggle and I am hoping MFP will be the one that works.

I am more than willing to accept friends that fall outside of this group but definitely hoping to find some going through the same life experiences as me.

Hi, I'm 39 and I am definitely noticing changes in my metabolism but nothing from menopause yet. I know what you mean about wanting this kind of support/camaraderie. While I'm not 40 yet and cannot offer anything about menopause I am interested in this issue since it will be coming up for me. So even though I fall outside of 40+ you can add me and maybe I can at least offer you some support and encouragement.

Hi, there's a "group" already on MFP "40-50+ but younger next year" If you want to join that group, Go to "Community" tab, then search for it on the "Groups" tab (adjacent to "message boards" tab). It;s great. Very active group, lots of support.

I'm almost 42, and my metabolism is definitely not what it used to be. I'm focusing more on building muscle than weight loss, and the scale doesn't move very much at all. Feel free to add me!
  • Add me, too. I am 52 and have about 50 lbs to lose. I have been watching what I eat for the last month or so and have only lost 5 pounds - in the not-so-distant past I would have lost twice that and noticed a change. Now I feel like everything is in slow-motion and I can't imagine keeping on like this.

I have the Fitbit Ultra, MFP, and I know what I'm doing - it worked in the past but now? Blah. Like walking through quicksand. NOTHING.

I'm turning 46 next month and have fighting for the past 6+ years to lose weight. Whether it's slower metabolism with age, hormones/menopause, etc., it's frustrating and a pain in the butt! Feel free to add me as a Friend - we'll chat.

Feel free to add me. I'm 47 and have been feeling the effects of hormonal shifts for a few years now. Gone are the days of quick, drop a few pounds diets. It's slow going this time around. I haven't helped myself by yo-yo dieting in the past. Been doing mfp for a few months and I'm in it for the long haul. If you're after slow, steady long term change, I'm happy to support you (and vice versa).

Feel free to add me too. I have been looking for friends over 40. I'm 39 years old but will be turning 40 in January. I developed hypothyroidism after my last child; he's 3 years old. I took off about 50 lbs immediately after taking medication but then it stopped and I'm having a hard time moving past that point. It's a lot of work and effort than when I was in my twenties.

I'm looking for friends around my age too, so feel free to add me! I'm 48 and didn't really have a weight problem until my 40s. I agree that it's different. It's not just the weight, but everything seems to be that bit harder!

Love all the support on MFP. I don't want to have too many friends or I won't be able to remember who's who. I will check profiles and find the ones I have the most in common with . Thanks you for all the responses. I hope other women come to this topic and find women who fit into their needs. Please don't be hurt if I don't send you a friend request. I wish you all the best and pray you reach your goals. <><

I am 43, and I have noticed an issue with metabolism for several years. AS we get older we tend to lose muscle, since we need muscle in order to burn fat that is the the reason as we get older we not only want to lose weight but also find a system yo build lean muscle at the same time.

I started the Body By Vi Challenge in January of this year and have lost over 65 pounds. After years of trying every weight loss product out there this is the only system that has produced amazing results for me.

Hi - I'll be 49 in a few months and newbie to MFP! Gone are the days of missing a few meals or only eating WW meals to keep my weight in check.
