How did you get proposed to?

He taped the his grandmothers ring inside the bottom on a huge box (so I wouldn't know it was jewelry) and wrapped it and gave it to me on Christmas Eve. And he was so pleased with his clever idea he had to be reminded he still needed to ask :P.0

He took me out to a dinner/dance and before the dance portion started, he went out to the middle of the dance floor, called me over and got down on his knee in front of all those people and proposed. It'll be 5 years on the 23rd.0

At a beautiful restaurant on my birthday with all my friends there!0

I had pointed out this pretty glass top jewelry box while we were Christmas shopping online.
On the day before Christmas Eve we were exchanging the presents we got for one another. (Christmas Eve was my family, Christmas day, his.. so we did our own little thing the day before).
We both had about 4 presents each, and he started by giving me one, and we rotated back and forth and finally I was down to my last present. I opened it and it was the jewelry box, and inside staring up at me through the glass was a beautiful diamond.
He took it out of the box, got on one knee and tried to propose. However, my husband is quite sensitive, so it came out as mumbling and tears.. so he just held it up to me. It was so very sweet.
After we celebrated a bit and sent text message pictures and such I stopped and popped him in the shoulder... "You should have let ME gone first!! You still have a present left.. and its a stupid clock.. how can that compare to this!!"
My ring was wrapped and under the tree for WEEKS just sitting in the room with me every time I was in there.. I thought that was cute.0 -
My fiance is French–born in Paris. He wooed me 5 years ago with promises of a romantic trip to his city of birth. Last month that promise finally came true. He took me to Paris wined me, dined me and whipped out a spectacular diamond at the top of the Eiffel Tower at dusk! Soooo romantic :-)0

Exactly how I wanted it: just the two of us in an intimate setting, without fanfare or attempts to draw attention to what was going on.
Celebrating an engagement is so much fun to share with friends and family, but I'm extremely grateful the actual proposal was just between the two of us. It's a wonderful memory.
I so agree. I'm a private person and my husband's family doesn't get this. If you read my story, you know mine was inside one of my Christmas presents, and ALL of his family knew about it. They begged him to bring it with to their family Christmas so they could "take pictures for us". He declined. He knew me well enough to know I would have been uncomfortable with that.
It's an intimate moment.. and I'm glad it was just the two of us.0 -
We went out on a little date on a Monday night, grabbed some Subway, & ate dinner on the pier overlooking the harbor in Maryland. (He was acting really weird and actually left his sandwich at the subway store on accident - late I understood this to be caused from nerves )When we go t to the pier, my boyfriend and I were taking pictures together. Our friends "bumped in" to us and offered to take some pictures of us, but first made me do a silly pose overlooking the water. I was turned towards the water doing a funny pose, and when I turned around, he was on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was completely surprised0

Christmas morning I opened my gift (which he saved for last)....and surprise, it was a ring!
The whole family was there and they were completely shocked. I think everyone just sat there for about 15mins in complete silence...until my mom said: Is there a question to go with that ring?? lol
Then my fiance leaned over (yep, leaned over - didn't even get on his knee) and said: Will you Marry Me? lol
Apparently he had bought my ring the day before Christmas...I don't even think he really understood what he was doing...haha I think he was just as shocked as everyone else that he was proposing! hahaha What a guy!
Not very romantic, but very sweet. It is even more touching now because his mom who passed away 6mos after our engagement was there to share the moment with us...0 -
My husband's plan was to wait until I finished my half marathon and do it at the finish line, but he got the ring a week early and claims he couldn't wait a whole week. So instead the day after he got the ring I was studying for a big pharmacy exam and he had me look at rings online so he could "get an idea" of what I liked. Then he said "how about this one?" and I was all confused until I looked over and he was down on his knee with the ring! Unfortunately studying was not my main focus after that, hence the C+ I got on that exam haha. Also, my best friend knew and had avoided me for days so she wouldn't give anything away and here I was thinking she was mad for some reason haha.0

Picture it, we're walking along the coast in Blackpool (think the Jersey Shore but even tackier) and I am scarfing down a bag of kinky donuts as we go.
Him - "What are you doing in October?"
Me - "How the hell am I supposed to know?" As I lick my fingers.
Him - "Wanna get married?"
Me - "Hell yea!"
We eloped in October.
P.S. This is the easiest way to describe my husband and I.0 -
he said "well, neither of us is going anywhere else, I guess we should get married." This was about 30 minutes after a positive pregnancy test (after 3 years of living together). Sooooo romantic. It's worked out though, we now have 3 kids and have been married 8 years0

It was New Years Day. I had my nephew all night and my now fiance kept asking him when he was going home, I kept yelling at fiance & told him he can stay as long as he wants!!! well I found out there was a reason behind it! Once nephew left I was given a little present it was one of my small longaberger baskets with a note in it, it had a little saying on it that lead me to another spot at our house, I was sent to 4 different spots, each saying was something like, good news is delivered in these usually, was mailbox, then we will use this to spend time w/family, was his Chevelle, then finally a note said they look down on us to make sure we have a long happy life together, I still was not really sure this was a proposal but I had no clue finally he told me to go to the Christmas tree, (my dad & bro hide jewelry in their trees for their wives so I was thinking some jewelry was in our tree, didnt think a ring) finally I look up and it clicked the angel ontop the tree, there was my ring in her hand!!! Then he got down on one knee and asked me!!!
I was in shock cuz he really put some thought into this and thats not him !!!
P.S. He had my ring for a YEAR too, he had planned on doing it 6 months earlier on our group of friends trip, but another friend of ours texted us all saying they just got engaged so he decided to wait! Im glad he waited this way was very thoughtful!!!0 -
My husband is so shy and so sweet.
I got a text from my husband(well obviously boyfriend at the time) saying that he wasn't gonna be home, that he was going to his buddies for a few drinks.
I came home and flicked the lights on in our apartment, there were Christmas lights set up everywhere that led me to our bedroom and music that started to play, along the way he left little messages and stories about us and how much he loved me. I got to the last one that was on our bed and read the last part that said I miss something down by the mail boxes.
So I went to go and check and I opened the door and he was right there! He took me inside and got down on one knee and said, now that you know how much I really love you, and I can't wait any longer to do this, will you marry me Krista?
And I knew he was going to propose because he had me pick out the ring(he was terrified of doing it!), but I didn't know when he was going to do it(about a month after I picked out the ring). So when he asked, I laughed and said, no and he smiled(knowing I was joking) and then I said, a million times yes!!0 -
My first husband left me on Christmas Eve 1994. When my husband (now of almost 15 years) proposed, he proposed on Christmas Eve (1996) by saying, "Brian took your Christmas away, I want to give it back. Will you marry me?" It was wonderful!!!0

Last summer, I spent a month working in Paris, which is my very favorite place on earth-I studied abroad there too. My fiance decided to come visit me for July 4th weekend. We had a great night the first night he came into the city and then the next day we went on a walk around the city. He proposed in the Jardin des Tullieries after we put a love lock on the Solerfino bridge on the Seine.0

First of all we are both huge Michigan football fans and I'd never been to a big 10 football game and was dying to go, so we got tickets to the Michigan v. Perdue game. We got up early that morning to head to the game and I was so excited. We got to the stadium and it was amazing - I was watching the team warm up from 3 rows back and turned to find my fiancé down on one knee with a gorgeous ring. It was perfect!0

On our 4th dating anniversary (a day before valentines day) it was weirdly warm for our location that time of year so we decided to go for a walk along the ice covered river. He set the timer and we took a picture together then he set the timer again asked me if I was ready and said yup asked again and was like yeah?? lol Ran over real quick slipped on the ice (I had to grab him before he went into an open area of water) continued to get down on one knee and asked

My fiance told me he had planned a birthday surprise weekend (not unheard of since the year before he took me to my first Steelers game for my birthday). He wouldn't tell me where we were going and only gave me hints on what to pack. We went to one of my favorite restaurants, and also the location of our first date for lunch. I spent the whole meal asking him what his plan was and where we were going. After lunch he insisted we take a walk along the water. As we neared a shady spot he told me he loved me and then dropped down on one knee and proposed We had talked about getting engaged for a while and had already gone to look at rings so I wasn't shocked but I was very surprised in the moment. He was shaking so I started giggling but then cried as I said "yes." Apparently there were a lot of people around but I didn't even notice as we walked back to the car to head out on our weekend getaway to celebrate the engagement. I was so upset that we didn't get any pictures, but it turns out my fiance had planned for a photographer to come and take pictures of us at this famous bed and breakfast we were headed to. Then we had a picnic and a late dinner in one of the best restaurants in the area. We had no cell phone reception the whole time we were there so we just get to enjoy the moment. It was absolutely perfect!0

I'm recently engaged.
He picked me up from work because we had to be somewhere. He told me he had made some snacks and wanted to go to the park (where we had our first date) to eat them. He was messing around with with the bag he brought; I wasn't paying attention. When I turned to look at him, he was on one knee and asked "Will you be my boo?"0 -
