I track losses that I think that are accurate. If they are questionable, I wait 1-2 days before I log them.

Gains...only if my weight stays the same for more then 3-5 days.

I don't weigh myself 1 week out of the month (woman stuff)

I log my gains and losses. But if i gain, I turn off the notification of weight loss until I've reached the lower weight I was at. I don't like to keep posting losing the same 2 lbs and having my friends congratulate me for it for the 5th time :) I don't feel it's deserved. But I log it because I like to see the charts on how my weight has fluctuated.

You are either committed to success or lying to yourself; in which by doing so, making your journey that much longer.

I don't because weight fluctuates and I am not in the business of gaining only losing. So any temporary gain isn't any place I plan on staying.

I weigh myself every couple days at the gym, and I record it on here whether it's up or down. Unless you have an 'official' weigh in every week or so that is the one you go by, it's silly not to record your gains as well as your losses. Sometimes I feel good about being down a couple pounds, but if the next day I'm up by a pound, I realize that I probably only trust lost one of those pounds and the other was water weight. Helps me stay grounded to know my most accurate and recent weight and continue going by that, knowing it could fluctuate up or down a pound or so on any day.

Your water weight will change by the minute let alone daily. If you have to weigh yourself every day, do it in the morning when you wake up. I would suggest logging it weekly. That's what I'm going to do.

I weigh myself daily and log it regardless. If you can't be honest with yourself, who CAN you be honest with?

It's got nothing to do with being honest. I just don't see any value in recording day-to-day weight fluctuations.

I only log my weight loss MFP but I have a calendar that I log my daily wieght; whether I gain or lose.

    ^this^
I also also keep my weight on MFP at one pound over my actual weight to allow for slight gains.

Nope just the losses, because it makes me work harder to get the loss back.

It depends how long the gain stays. I tend to have a pattern where I gain, then lose, so like so:

    WEIGH IN DAY! Monday: 150
    Thursday: 152
Saturday: 153 (and I start worrying I am having a bad week)
    WEIGHT IN DAY! Monday: 149

I DO check-in my weight gain if it is maintained, because I want my information to be as accurate as possible. It is added motivation to get *back* my losses on my ticker, etc.

I record reality as the scale sees it.

Yes! I weigh in on Wednesdays... And if it goes up I log it. And If it goes down, I log it. It's not about de-motivation or depressing myself... it's about being Honest with myself. Maybe once a week is too often, maybe I should do once every two weeks, but whatever that weight is on Wednesday, I log it. If I don't, I'm just lying to myself.

I could see that if I weighed myself once a week or less, but I step on the scales every morning, so I see lot of day to day fluctuations that I don't bother recording.

I'm the same way... I don't record the ones that are a lb or less from day to day.

I totally agree with this - truth hurts, but it's still the truth. If you gain 3 weeks in a row, you clearly are not doing something right, so it's better to see that before the number is too high than to just let yourself get back to square one. For me, it's about being honest with MYSELF and only myself.

I guess for me it would depend on whether or not I'd been taking care of myself. If I thought I was just plateauing I probably wouldn't, but if I knew I had made bad food and exercise decisions, I'd definitely record it.

To be true to myself, I do check in and record both the ups and downs.

Not usually........... I wait until there is a loss..........I've been bouncing up and down a few pounds for a couple of weeks.

I have been plateauing for a while.......and the scale has gone up and down a little...................and I hate it! I decided NOT to weigh more than once a week, because it's depressing me.

So.............question for ya'll..........DO YOU note your weight GAINS in MFP? Or just your losses.

    Me? JUST the losses.................

Same thing here! I am trying to ween off the daily scale stepping and go to once a week, ITS SO HARD THOUGH! And to answer your question, no, I do not register weight gain, only the loss.

I have never gained since I started ....I only weigh once a week ...which is the recommended time to weigh....weighing more often does not give a realistic reading as weight fluctuates daily ...you should weigh on the same day at the same time and with similar clothing (although I weigh in the buff :blushing: ) My weight stayed the same over the festive season which I was pleased about and I am only 4 pounds from my final goal and then I will allow a 2 pound fluctuation up or down ....If you stay firm and determined it can be done ....it depends on your mindset and what it is you really want more food or less weight for your health and I know what my priorities are.....If I do gain I will log it because you need to be honest with yourself or whats the point to the whole thing ....you would be just lying to yurself and you know the real truth.
Hope you get the goal you crave :drinker: :flowerforyou:

Yes. That way when you lose what you gained it counts as a loss and you're getting 'credit' for the work. If I were to gain 15 lbs but didn't log that high weight it would be somewhat discouraging not logging a loss while losing that 15 again. Plus, it's just being honest with yourself and accountable. I usually record my weight 2-3 times per month on scheduled days.

I weigh it all, and I weigh it daily. The fluctuations can become permanently upward if I don't pay attention to them. I watch for trends and then compare it to my food and exercise diary to look for correlations.

I personally don't record gains because my weight loss has not be linear <at ALL> and only losses post to your wall for your friends to see. I don't like getting "credit" and "wtg's" for losing the same pound twice as my weight fluctuates up and down. If I had any kind of significant gain however, that would be different. I would input it and state the gain to my friends.

Yep. I weigh in every 2 weeks and if my weight goes up, I post and tell my MFP pals. I need to be accountable, particularly as I near my goal weight, as I feel that those who follow my progress need to understand that on this journey there are both highs and lows.

I log everyday up or down. It holds me accountable for actions and it's working for me.

I log all my weights, gains or losses, otherwise, what's the point? I understand weight fluctuates and I like seeing how what I eat and drink affects my weight. Imo, not logging weight gains is like not logging your cheaty meals or days.
