    Happy Saturday Ladies:bigsmile:

:glasses: Michelle we do lots of BBQ's and I always have good luck with kebobs, a few chicken breasts or pieces of steak and lots of peppers and onions and mushrooms can go a long way and feed a lot of people, plus they cook really fast over the grill. Have fun with your pool party!

:drinker: Had fun last night, went across the street to our friends house for dinner and I brought a fresh berry tart that I made that has
fresh berries, cream cheese, sugar and sweetened condensed milk and a chocolate cookie crust of course I had a piece! So I did go over in my calories, but not by too much and oh I had some wine too! But I had a lot of fun!!! Its really nice to have friends across the street that we get along with

Anyways I hope you are all doing well and drinking lots of water, getting your exercise in and overall having a happy weekend

    Love

:drinker: :flowerforyou: Amanda, I get up at silly o'clock every morning but I don't cook breakfast  by the time I have to think or greet people, I have been awake and waking for two hours......you are a devoted wife to be willing to do that for your hubby and he is a lucky and blessed man to have you by his side.

:flowerforyou: the kebabs on the bbq are sounding so good that we will probably have to have them if it ever stops raining.

:flowerforyou: I just figured out that the standing one leg hamstring stretch that I'm doing 100 of every day, strongly resembles a yoga pose called Warrior III......it felt like a yoga pose so I googled one leg yoga poses until I found it.

:flowerforyou: we did an Isagenix cleanse day today so I used it as a rest day and plan to go to bed early (before 8PM)

barbie - what I like about the "bring your own items to grill" is that I don't incur the total expense of all the meat, veges, etc.

hazelohoheigh - welcome to a great thread. You'll find lots of good ideas from cooking to exercise to how-to-thwart-those-oopses along with lots of encouragement when you do have an "oops" (we all do) Where was that beautiful pic taken?

welcome richmondlady - I don't have a fitbit, but I never add in my calories, either. Sounds like you're doing well. I'm sure we'll all learn a lot from you. My HRM does calculate the calories burned, but I don't even bother with that. I just don't bother recording it.

kacie - my shoulder muscles aren't as strong as my arms. But then again, the shoulder muscles are smaller muscles. I can do a front raise (even a row) with an 8# weight, but when doing a lateral raise I can't seem to go above a 5# without losing form

Amanda - I would, as kackie suggested, definitely look into making something ahead of time and then warming it up

Did an hour of yoga today. Did the Rodney Yee "Yoga Burn" DVD since Jessica needed me to take her to get her car serviced. Boy, he (Rodney) has a good physique, not much body fat on that guy. First, I went to the farmer's market. Got more corn on the cob and beets along with some carrots (Vince likes them with the tops on them, they just take up so much room in the refrigerator! Also got a small package of blueberries, probably should have gotten more. Then did a little food shopping. Want to go back (forgot to get potatoes) right before church since potatoes and canned beans are something I can leave in the car. We're not fans of canned beans, but they are on sale so with my coupon I can get each 28oz can for 50cents so I'll donate it to the soup kitchen. Tomorrow I'll do a pilates DVD

Nancy - I was joking at the farmer's market today that my refrigerator and freezer are stuffed to the brim and I blame them....lol Makes them feel good. Boy, now do I ever wish I'd gotten the larger freezer. If this one ever goes (and with my luck it won't), I'm definitely getting the largest one I can.

Sherry - happy early birthday before I forget (which I probably will do unless someone reminds me)

    Warning: rant to follow
Jessica wanted Chinese food for dinner so we went out and got some. I wanted (note the word) steamed veges and I didn't want the rice. What's the big deal? Well, you should have heard Vince and Jessica go on and on about how I'm not vegetarian but how could I want to make a dinner of veges blah blah blah, and how I didn't eat this way 10 years ago so what changed now? I finally got really mad and just said "why can't I eat what I like? So I didn't eat a lot of veges 10 years ago, my tastes changed, so what?" I didn't mention the fact that Vince wants things PLAIN and I have a hard time finding it plain. Like he only wants Ragu marinara sauce (not meat flavored). I bought some but it's Old World style (with veges) and he doesn't want it. So I had to return it to the store. I finally told him that I can't get the other kind (and I really can't), but Hunt makes this tomato sauce. He tried it, don't know if he's going to eat it. I bet he does because there isn't anything else. Do you think Vince will eat a cantaloupe off the rind? No way, guess who has to cut it up into chunks for him? I tell you, this just made me so mad. It's not like I'm hurting anyone. And I don't have lots of intestinal problems (like Vince does and I suspect part of it is because he only wants things bland). Even Jessica will eat things with a bit of spice to it. Like she had some tortilla chips and was commenting that we didn't have any salsa. Vince wouldn't eat it and I don't want to buy a whole jar just for me. It'll go bad before I can eat it. At the farmer's market today I got Vince carrots with the green on them. He complained that the carrots weren't long like Bugs Bunny's. He'd better eat these carrots because they're making a mess in my refrigerator. I'm sorry, I'm just frustrated right now.

    Sorry everyone

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Michele sorry but this made me laugh: Do you think Vince will eat a cantaloupe off the rind? No way, guess who has to cut it up into chunks for him?
My ex would never eat cantaloupe at home, but always at my mom's and its because my mom would cut and cube it lol

Eat what you want it is your body

Thanks for the early bd wish

    Good morning dear ladies

:glasses: For a moment there I thought the sun was going to shine through, but no, it can't quite make it ! There's still grey skies overhead, but at least it has stopped raining. We are lucky, we are not in a flooding area, but I've heard some parts of York are not so lucky. We have two rivers running through York, and although we live quite near one of them (River Foss) the flooding doesn't reach us.

:grumble: Michele my hubby is just the same, if I cook anything in a type of sauce or it's something unfamiliar to him, he looks at it in disgust and asks what it is - as if I'm trying to poison him or something. He likes plain stuff. I can get some veggies down him, but they have to be so soft as to practically disintegrate into the gravy. In fact I often liquidise the veggies into the gravy. Yes, like I did when the kids were little, (that was the only way to get veggies into them  ) then he can't leave them on the side saying they are too hard!

 I'm another one that gets up a silly o'clock during the week. This is mainly because of our "unsociable" dog Frankie. DD gets up even earlier now to walk him, and because Tara is suffering form degenerative myelopathy she needs to go at a slower pace. So we follow on about 20 - 30 mins later - it gives frankie time to have a bit of a run and chase balls etc,. Trying to tell Tara that she needs to take it steady is not easy, in her mind she thinks she can still run about, but her poor little legs buckle under her when she tries to run about. It's really hard keeping her from overdoing it.

:noway: Forgot to weigh myself this morning, there's a first! Think it was because I weighed last night before I went to bed and was annoyed to find I'd gone up a lb . I thought I had been careful too, but I know it doesn't always take effect straight away, and hopefully a few days of being careful will show on the scales soon.

The walking challenge we are doing at work has asked us to beat our personal best this weekend, so I need to do more than 19204 steps. Who'd have thought that this would have been no problem to me a few years ago, but I'm struggling a bit this year, but I'm going to do my very best to beat it.

So with that in mind, I'd better get moving - I'm not adding any steps onto my ped sat at the computer

Have a lovely Sunday

Jackie: Thinking of you with "chaos" reigning today! I know the feeling! Sounds like a lovely day with family and a happy celebration! Enjoy:flowerforyou: And how nice to have your house tidied as a "team effort" with your DH. And I love the idea of a "frock" vs a "dress"...doesn't it sound a bit more festive too? (for all us in the USA???) That's the fun of this site...getting to chat with so many fun ladies all over:love: and trying to picture where you are and what it's like!

Michele: I am sorry that you have picky eaters to deal with! Especially with vegetables and healthy things...but I guess we all have our "issues" and I am slowly realizing that some things I am never going to change about my DH or sons...and they are probably not going to change me:tongue::tongue: That's why it's nice to have this place to come and "VENT" away, isn't it?

Richmond: I hear good things about the Fizbit...I too use a HRM to keep track of what I actually burn and I TRY not to eat them back...some days I do better than others:ohwell: But I may have to look into that when I am in need of a PUSH...these gadgets can be fun and motivating, can't they? Glad to have you here!

Kat: How nice to have fun neighbors to hang out with! Did you ever come up with paint colors for your house that were oked?

Sillyo'clock: What a great term...we ALL KNOW what it means, don't we? Hope it worked out Amanda! And Wizzywig...hope you didn't have another wake up at that hour!

Mimi: WHERE ARE YOU??? She has disappeared! Anyone heard from her???

Welcome to our new members! Come back often and I look forward to learning more about you...this is the best place!

I just made myself a scrambled egg and a toasted english muffin...hoping that will suit my fussy tummy. I am SO unused to any stomach issues...I can normally eat ANYthing...but I have some little bug lingering and making me feel unlike myself. A bit queasy! Not the best feeling. I am hoping I am better as the day goes on. I am tired of being inside! We have 2 ladies coming for dinner tonight, so I must rally and put something together. (One is wife of DH's best friend who died recently:cry: )

Have a lovely day, Dear Ladies! Kackie

Good Morning Ladies and Happy Sunday to all of you!

Here I am at work , I hate working of Sunday, becaues I miss church. However we all know that work in health care that the sick need care on Sunday as much as any other day so here I am.

I did read all of your post and enjoy hearing about your day. :flowerforyou:
To you ladies that have picky eaters , I get the same looks from my DH sometimes.:grumble: He is a meat and potatoes man ,and if there is gravy and biscuits that is a plus . He loves comfort food as we call it here, or southern cooking some call it. He is a wonderful cook also:huh: which is a blessing and a curse. He tells the kids that I am experimenting and he is the ginny pig. :ohwell: It use to hurt my feeling ,but now I just fix what ever and if he likes it good and if he dosn't then he can fix himself something else, most time he eats what ever I fix and sometimes he likes it and says thats not to bad or that was good. now don't get me wronge, I love my DH and what to please him ,but after 30 years I have learned sometimes he just isn't going to be pleased and life will go on. I am luncky that he dose love most vegies , but hates broccoli . I had our DS and his familey over for dinner Fryday night ,so I fixed pizzia burgers and a big salad, then also I had a big vegie plate with carrots. broccoli, celery and a bowl of vegie dip. that way I could fix my salad the way I wanted and they could fix thiers the way they wanted and leave out the broccoli or whatever they did not like and the kids could have carrots and dip. everyone was happy! ofcourse it was Ice cream latter and then the grandkids and I took the dog for a walk.

Well I had better get back to work , hope you all have a wonderful Sunday !

:flowerforyou: Greetings from soggy, drippy Portland. :grumble: I really, really want to complain but what good would that do. It's good "pea weather", and boy, are they prolific. Lettuce, spinach and chard are in absolute heaven. Today's the day I sort through the fridge and make use of several bags of greens that I harvested a couple days ago. Might have to make a spinach quiche this morning.

A neighbor gardener offered to let us pick her raspberries on Friday, I gladly took her up on the offer, you betcha! I made a fresh raspberry pie for dessert with friends last night, it was simply decadent! Cream cheese blended with Cool Whip and powdered sugar placed on the bottom of a baked pie shell, then heaped with fresh berries and topped with a thick raspberry glaze. Oh my. It was well worth the splurge. Back to eating light today. :blushing:

Still working on that last pesky pound in order to reach my goal. I know I can do it by the end of June. One week. Wooo! I see a few new items of clothing on the horizon.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. The sun WILL shine this week. They promised.

I'm determined to lose the last 16 pounds and reach a healthy BMI. As we age, it gets harder to lose, but I'll do it this year! I'm a 58-year-old teacher, off for the summer, but still very busy with family and home responsibilities. I'm setting up routines that I plan to follow during the school year.

It is Sunday and going to be a warm day in Sunny Calif. Have a bridal Shower today, I know it is Mexican food and my DIL sister makes the best cupcakes ever....SO much for that 1 lb drop finally this morning on the stupid scale. I am trying to go low carb for a week, but why is it when I do want to do the no bread etc, I want a sandwich, or pizza or pasta.....Mind is hard to retrain.

Have a good week move and drink (water) not just wine:drinker:

Wow Jb that pie looks good! I have had strawberry pie like that but never tought of having raspberries that way , may have to try it.

laniv : hang is there you can do it, sounds like you are starting off on a good foot , planing is a whole lot of it and then the determination to carry it out. We will cheer you on and be here with what ever help we can.

jaks97: I know what you mean , that's is how it is for me to, but once you get over it then it becomes a little easier. remember low carb not no carb. try having one thing as a meal with a salad and eat light or no carb for the other 2 meals and then you will not feel as deprived. and enjoy!

    Good afternoon ladies............

I've logged the food but struggled with the exercise!!
Just where does ...60 minutes of ....Extreme Twins cuddling"  ....fit in to the scheme of things!!"!
I added an hour of cooking but I'm still over my days quota having fed the family and me too!!
:noway: Must get out that "Mouth tape" for when the munchies sing their siren song from the kitchen tonight!!

 I'm lending a helping hand to take said twins to the clinic tomorrow .....I wonder if things have changed since my two were babies!!
The huge wooden rocking horse in the corner, the bottles of that lovely orange juice concentrate and the queue to get the little darlings weighed..............I'll let you know!!

Anyway ......off to start working out clothes for next weekend. Warm and woolly or ...light and frilly. Both methinks!!!

:flowerforyou: good evening ladies, I'm back. and boy am I exhausted. It took me 4 hours to get home from my Brother's today due to an accident to the Bay Bridge. I got home and my DH had landscaped my yard. According to my neighbors (who happen to be DH's cousins) he worked day and night (when he wasn't at work) getting the yard beautiful for my birthday .:flowerforyou: Got up early this morning and rode an hour with my brother, sister in-law and nephew to a huge flea market in PA. It was the biggest flea market I have ever seen. It took us an hour and a half to walk half of it. If it wasn't so far away I would love to go every weekend, what a great workout walking up and down the hills and aisles.

 I want to thank every one for their thoughts and prayers, it really does mean alot to have all of your support. Matthew is home and recuperating comfortably. I will keep everyone up to date as to his next surgery, which is on July 24th.

 Michelle, my husband (and family) drive me crazy too. He does most of the cooking during the week and is always cooking things I can't or don't want to eat and then he get's an attittude cause I tell him "did you forget I am on a diet and can't eat that" I went to a graduation party yesterday and everyone knows I am on a diet and they kept putting salads loaded with mayo on my plate or trying to feed me food with seeds in it ( I have diviticulitus) like sausage with fennel seeds, potato salad with celery seeds and a salad made with tomatoes, cucumbers and corn. I just kept reminding them and scraping it off my plate. Didn't want to offend anyone but they need to respect what I am trying to do and let ME manage what I eat.
Think I will get a shower and go to bed. Back to work tomorrow and play catch up for taking off last week.
 Love ((((Hugs))) and prayers, Rose

First day of new eating plan (I don't want to call it a "diet"). I stayed within my calorie limit. Tomorrow I'm cleaning out my classroom, biking 45 minutes (unless it rains), and then heading into NYC for an evening with my husband. I've already checked the menu for dinner, and planned out what I'll eat. So far, so good.

Home from out first cruise. The cruise to nowhere was fantastic. I want to go again. We sailed for about 15 hours south of Sydney anchored off shore for 24 hours then sailed home again. Not having ever been on a cruise ship, we were constantly amazed. So many activities, so much food (and it was good), the gym was beautiful and I used it both days. Even went to an early morning stretch class. With the fantastic views from the gym why wouldn't you use it. We were late departing due to bad weather, so that made me a bit anxious and it was rough that first night but thankfully it cleared to crystal blue sunny days although cold. its winter down here. Unbeknown to us this cruise, a comedy cruise, the shows were great is also know as a booze cruise. My daughter and I did enjoy a couple of cocktails each night but that was it. We preferred to be up early and see the glorious sunrise each day. Not just going to bed at sunrise or passed out. Still swaying a bit, can't waiting to find my land legs. Feel refreshed and motivated. I did eat more then I burned each day but it was worth it.

Will catch up on all your posts.

Viv and everyone else who commented on the fact that Vince comments on my eating. I just feel "yuk" when I have a lot of fats and lately sugars, too. Yup, the garlic press and I have gotten to be REAL good friends. Same with the food processor, we're almost inseparable. Kat - sometimes I'm just so grateful that we live in NC and Denise is in PA. Then again, she may not realize it, but she really does help me to exercise. Exercise (for me at least) relieves frustration and calms my nerves. Viv - any kind of breading on something, Vince takes it off. Many times he doesn't even ask what's in it, he just takes it off. Fresh spices? they don't go over at all. I made something one time (I don't remember what it was) and I used the dried spices. He ate it. The next time I used the fresh spices, he thought it had a terrible taste. Well, I guess he's just so used to processed foods that something fresh is totally foreign to him. I would never say this to him, but I understand his mother wasn't much of a cook, his father even mentioned it. Her idea of spices was salt, pepper and ketchup. kackie - yes, it IS great to have some place to vent where people don't try to change you.

Viv - my weight is ALWAYS up in the evening. Never ever fails. The next morning I can be as much as 3 lbs lighter

    Miss my mimi

Rose - I feel for you. I hate when I get into those situations, especially when you're real hungry and the only thing to eat has lots of mayo etc on it. Honestly, to me, I'd much rather have a nice piece of fruit for dessert. Bet you did well under the circumstances.

kackie - so sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope it goes away quickly

Did an hour of pilates DVD today. Tomorrow I'll do some yoga and then take the extreme pump class. I'm going to use the yoga on My Fitness Coach for the Wii, looks like you can adjust the time, 15min, 30min, 1hr even 1-1/2hr. As I recall, basically for the different times, what they do is have you do the pose for longer to make up the time (did I explain myself?) or else they repeat sequences. As I recall, too, the instructions weren't all that great. But I'll give it another go. Decided that the next time I'm going to do pilates, I'll do the "Fit in Six" on the Wii. It's something like 28 minutes long so I can maybe do it twice, or else I can do the DVD that I did today. Today's was 30 minutes long so I did it twice to make it an hour.

Had to go to WalMart today and just couldn't pass up the sample of cookie. Why am I doing this? Well, what I need to start doing (and will) is having the sample, but only having like 1/2 of the cookie. Wean myself off the samples. That's what I did before and eventually had no desire for samples.

You know, I enter all of my food under one heading (in this case the "snacks") and I don't really know what to put under "lunch". So it's not that I skipped the meal, I just don't know which foods to put there.

Yippee, horray, yahoo Jessica asked me to make her magic cookie bars, which I did. I ALWAYS have a hard time not having them. So I just manage by not making them. But she left and I gave her all that there was. She thought I should keep some "for my company" (we're having people here Wednesday) but I gave them all to her. Out of my freezer, out of my house, that's good.

Jen - your cruise sounds FANTASTIC! I'm so jealous. Sounds like you had a great time, I'm so happy for you.

Well, here's hoping everyone has a great evening.

    Michele

    Hi Lovies!
Had to share a yummy dessert I made tonight
Take a Vitalicious Muffin Top (I used Chocolate), cut it in half, I did this when it was still frozen, it was easier, cover each side with Cool Whip Free and put fresh raspberries on one side then put the other side on top like a Whoppie Pie and freeze for about an hour and EAT!!!! They are YUMMIE!!!!!!

You can use any kind of berry or even bananas! Whatever you like, each muffin top is 100 calories and the cool whip is about 40 calories and berries are about 10 calories I think...enjoy

Hi Michelle, my photo was taken in the painted desert in northern Arizona last spring. My husband and I did a road trip...
Thanks for the encouragement. I have had a hard time navigating around this site, but I think I am getting the hang of it now. I need all the help and tools I can get. Last year I lost 23 pounds (it was a start) and I have gained back all but 3 of it...I don't want to do that again,,,

    Hi Everyone,
I'm new here too. I'm 59 and just retired. Keep weight off is a life time battle for me. Weight Watchers helped a number of years ago, but not so much lately so I'm trying MFP and so far like it a lot. My first goal of retirement is to make the changes in my life to help me get back in shape, more exercise and keeping track of what I'm having to eat. I love reading the posts here. I'm going to need the support as I work through this. I'm excited one week and 3 pounds gone!

Hi - I'd like to just stop by and read your posts from time to time. Someone told me not to join more than one group here on MFP. I don't know, you ladies sound soooo interesting! Hope everyone has an excellent week. :flowerforyou:

5 days post-op and feeling more like myself than in months. Dr has me on a low-fat dairy free diet. So far food has been sitting well. Now that all the surgical drugs and gasses are out of my system, it is time to start from scratch with an exercise routine. Since its been so long since I have had energy for anything I am going to wear my pedometer today and see how many steps I take.

Newbies: SO glad you found us! Welcome and look forward to getting to know more about you!

Off to jump in the shower. I walked to the community dock to "warm up" for my 30 day shred workout DVD...the heavens opened and my "WALk" turned into a "RUN":tongue:  AND I got a good soaking. Too bad I didn't have on my HRM...I am sure that's the fastest I've moved in a very long time!

    Have a great week everyone!

    :flowerforyou: Good Monday Morning All,

Only time to say HI and hope everyone had a good weekend. It will take me most of the day to get caught up as there are 2.5 pages but wanted to pop in and catch up.

Saturday we had the grandsons for the late afternoon and evening, so lowered the temp in the hot tub to bath water and we all played in there for about 2 hrs before dinner and then yard play followed with a few cartoons before Son #2 & DIL picked them up. It was DIL #30th birthday and grandson #3 is due in about 7 weeks so they don't get to go out much. He took her to dinner and a movie and they both look very refreshed after an evening out...where as hubby and I were totally whipped out:wink:

We had done our bike ride early in the morning before the heat got too much but the heat is here to stay for quite a bit. It looks like we will be in the low 100's for about 5 - 6 days in a row:glasses:

Yesterday we went to the Renaissance Festival and since it was supposed to be about 103 we didn't do any specific exercise before going. I decided I would try my best to eat good, had a pork chop on a stick (with no stick) and then a spinach pie, I managed to stay away from the Kettle Korn and all the other goodies that I would have Loved:love: and kept myself from telling hubby I wanted it...because he would have said yes to whatever I wanted. With all the walking up and down the small hills and sitting in the sun we drank lots of iced tea and lemonade..I stayed away from the hard lemonade...although I really wanted it:wink: just figured it would cause me to want more. Some how we managed to not get sunburned :glasses: thank goodness.

Well I have a lot to do here at the office. Everyone have a good day and I will catch up tomorrow with all of you.

Logging, Moving and Drinking:drinker: will get us to our goals...LET'S GO!
