What diet friendly foods have you found you love?

Yesterday I tried oatmeal for the very first time and I LOVE it! I ate the Active Lifestyle Almond & Cranberry for breakfast this morning. Delicious. Right now I'm eating the Dannon Oikos Plain Greek Nonfat Yogurt. The texture is kind of weird, and it's a bit tart, so I added a packet of Splenda for some flavor! It's really good though.

Diet Pepsi. Other than that, most other diet friendly foods aren't palatable to me with the exceptions of some snacks.

I make my own kick *ss salads! Right now my favorite lunch salad (all prepared from home) is:

    1) baby spinach
    2) cabbage cole slaw mix (just the veggies, no sauce)
    3) green onion
    4) Strawberries
    5) blueberries
    6) kiwi
and a fat free dressing (Honey Dijon by Maple Grove Farms of Vermont is tasty!)- they have a good poppy seed too!

    To switch it up:
use mangos and bell peppers instead of the fruit! Awesome!!!
  • Oatmeal

Many fruits (banana, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries)

    Egg whites (for cooking)

Greek yogurt. The plain kind so I can add my own "toppings".
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk. It's lower in calories than milk and doesn't upset my stomach.

I tried this and found I couldn't do it. I settle with vanilla because it still has a little less sugar than the fruit flavors.

Almost any food can be "diet friendly" as long as you don't go overboard and you excersise and not rely on calorie counting alone..that said... Wheat Pitas and hummus. Yum! Veggies and dip made with greek yogurt, Garlic hummus as a sandwich spread. Yummity yum.

I try to keep a batch of my homemade guacamole in the fridge, most times. It has magical, transformative properties when applied to other foods. Mine has diced tomato, minced shallot, lime juice, and a bit of salt, in addition to the avocado (which I mash, because the texture is so much better than blended). I use the stuff on everything, from tortilla chips (I like Tostitos Artisan ones. Roasted Garlic and Black Bean is the best!), to lean chicken burgers, sandwiches and wraps (in place of even fattier things like sour cream, mayo, butter, and even cheese). It is also really good topped on an omelet! I make an egg white omelet with sliced crimini mushroom, green onion, fresh ground pepper and salt. It tastes good on its own, but the guac brings it to another level.

Oh, and hummus. I love hummus.

Cheesy Celery - Rice Milk Cheddar Cheese shredded over celery and heated just enough to melt the cheese in the microwave. (Yummy!)

Ann's House Good Health Energy Blend. Natural Almonds, soybeans, pumpkin seeds, and dried cranberries... no salt. I had never tried any of them, except almonds, before trying the mix.

Funny I was just thinking about this this morning! ...some of the foods that help me stay on track without feeling deprived are: avocados (like many others here I have used them to replace Mayo and cheese and I LOvE them). Laughing Cow cheeses, also good on everything. Frozen bananas (especially in a smoothie with pb). Arnold's Sandwich thins and skinny girl sandwich thins let me have some bread and taste yum. Fruit smoothies with a Lo cal protein powder, yummy and filling, coconut milk (unsweetened is even more diet friendly.). Oikos caramel Greek yogurt, like dessert. Quinoa in place of rice and pasta. Subway turkey on wheat with avocado and veggies, best fast food meal I have found. Starbucks black iced tea lemonade unsweetened, Lo cal and good. Skinny Cow ice fream sandwiches, not super Lo cal but not bad and help with the summer ice cream cravings. Tinkyada Brown rice pasta, people don't know the difference! Morning Star Black bean burgers, Lo cal, a bit spicy and good especially with avocado!

Tabouli Salad made with Wheat Bulgur! It's low on olive oil, so it cuts down the fat calories.
