What fat burners actually work?

Don't let people tell you that everything does not work. ACE has had great success and if you check out the Facebook page I sent you you will see some of the great results. You will only know if you try it for yourself. ACE is a GREAT product.
Isn't ACE a MLM scheme that makes crappy diet products?0 -
None of the ones I ever tried over the years actually did anything but piss me off, so I started with MFP and have just gone for the slow and steady approach, and it works!
Ditto
Have tried every diet, every 'magic' pill/potion & theory..........NOTHING works (long-term) apart from putting less in your mouth & getting off the couch. That's the only 'secret' ................. if the 'cheat' methods did what they say they do there wouldn't be any fat people0 -
Kidney stones would not be caused by NV. They are caused by a build up of calcium in the body.
Well according to her doctor the pills stressed her kidneys causing things to build up which resulted in her kidney stones, I think I'll go with what her doctor said...0 -
you could always just get your fat lasered! ;-)

Thank you all for your help. Looks like I might have to stick with diet and exercise.0

Amputation is the quickest route.
I would think liposuction would be quicker.
Ooh, a jab at a post, or at least I think it is, from a while back. The meta-trolling is strong with this one.

Sure you can. But I have had Kidney stones and I know how they are formed.
Kidney stones, usually comprised of a compound called calcium oxalate, are the result of a build-up of dissolved minerals on the inner lining of the kidneys. The leading cause of kidney stones is a lack of water. Stones commonly have been found in those that drink less than the recommended eight to ten glasses of water a day. When there is not enough water to dilute the uric acid (component of urine), the pH level within the kidneys drops and becomes more acidic. An excessively acidic environment in the kidneys is conducive to the formation of kidney stones. A family history of kidney stones also increases one's chances of developing them at some point in life. Researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas have found that the more overweight a person is the more at risk he or she is for forming uric acid kidney stones.0 -
No actually ACE ia an all natural supplement - Cocoa, Vitamin B6, Chromium, Natural Source Caffeine, Green Tea. I agree that there is no MAGIC pill but supplements do help with the metobolism. If you do enough research you will see what each supplement can do.
Cocoa Powder ~ Good for your heart and arteries also found to be good for your skin.
Natural Source Caffeine~ CAFFEINE helps with fat burning and to shed body fat by binding to fat cells. In a study published by the "Journal of Applied Physiology," caffeine also increased the release of fats into the blood -- a potential sign of higher levels of fat being used or "burned" for energy. Other studies also confirm the increase in post-caffeine fat release.
Spirulina ~ Spirulina contains a lot of healthy enzymes. It is often thought to help in weight loss and assist with carbohydrate disorders, problems with vision, allergies, anemia and many other diseases. It's said to lower cholesterol, help protect cells from degeneration, assist in digestion, keep the body energized, and contain proteins which people who are trying to avoid eating meat usually miss out on. This is because the supplement contains 10 vitamins, 18 amino acids, and 8 minerals. It's the ultimate food supplement which means you won't have to depend on so many high caloric foods to get the nutrients you need.
Green Tea Extract ~ Green tea is high in a powerful antioxidants that help fight cancer causing. Green tea extract is a natural metabolic booster.
Dimethylpentylamine~ (Geranium) delivers a synergistic element supporting energy and appetite control benefits. Dimethylpentylamine has been used as an ingredient in energy supplements for weight loss and bodybuilding. Reports claim that this product is the strongest weight loss tool people can purchase without a prescription.
Phenyl ethylamine HCl ~ Phenylethylamine (PEA) , a substance found in small amounts in chocolate, stimulates the brain to release a beta endorphin peptide that has analgesic effects and provides a feeling of well-being. PEA boosts fat loss.
Vitamin B-6 ~ Vitamin B6 has been called the "mighty vite" because of all the functions. It is estimated that Vitamin B6 is involved with more than 101 chemical reactions that occur in our bodies.0 -
The only proven ingredient that any of those contain is caffeine. You can get caffeine anywhere obviously. People who say the work have had to of also restricted calories or increased exercise- period. If they were the same activity and ate the same then I would bet $$$$ they didn't lose a thing. Absolute garbage. Spend some time doing unbiased research, you'll see for yourself.
However, supplement (not "fat burners") can assist with stregnth/muscle gains when you are not at a calorie deficit.0 -

Too bad 1,3 dimeth is now banned...0 -
General rule is that if it is legally sold as a fat loss supplement it won't work. While some natural supplements can indirectly contribute, it's mostly the same thing in any given supplement.
Caffeine is in most; as it functions as an appetite suppressant, and gives energy. Cup of black coffee before a workout and you'll usually have the energy that is in any given workout supplement.
Yohimbine is in many; another energy/alertness aid that also makes you pretty horny.
The rest is all mostly crap, and all will tell you to exercise and eat right regardless for them to be effective.0 -
Who seriously wants to take fat burners when they make you *kitten* oil?!? lol!
You're better off sticking to a good diet and exercise plan instead hun x0 -

I don't know what post from a while back you are refering to, but my answer was meant for this thread alone. I was simply pointing out that liposuction is quicker than amputation. Quicker procedure and quicker recovery, and barring a botched procedure, you should still have all appendages with which you started. But recent studies have shown liposuction can increase the amount of dangerous visceral fat around your organs, so there is that to consider.0 -
Sorry it is NOT banned!
Nutrition and Decongestion Dimethylpentylamine was first used as a nutritional supplement and a decongestant, after extensive research in the 1940's and 1950's. A patent for the product was applied for and received, to use the product as a nutritional substance. Since then the substance Dimethylpentylamine has been extensively used in nutritional products in a variety of ways. For example, Phentramin-D uses Dimethylpentylamine to stimulate wieght loss. Dimethylpentylamine is also known to be used as a nasal decongestant. The product has done quiet well in all of its different uses and is quite popular.

Wait, you mean I could refine it and use it to drive my car?
Oh, wait, I guess riding my bicycle to work still works better.0 -
It has been banned by some sports because of the boost that you get from it, but it has not been banned for supplements for weight loss. For example, compounds such as caffeine, creatine & 1,3 dimethylamylamine (also known as methylhexanamine, 2-amino-4-methylhexane & 1,3-dimethylpentylamine - a natural constituent of the geranium flower) may not be allowed by your specific sports organization.0

I use Warrior Blaze fat burner.
http://www.bodybuildingwarehouse.co.uk/warrior-blaze-90-caps
Without a fat burner in an hour i usually burn 600 calories on average. With a fat burner I can burn close to 1000 calories.
Maybe it is the fat burner, maybe its my mind playing tricks on me!0 -
With so many on the market its hard for me to make a choice. Can you guys please let me know what fat burners worked for you?
Thanks!
None to be honest. Eat at a calorie deficit, do your lifting and do some cardio that you like and you will see results.
Saying that though I have tried many fat burners and the only one that has consistently worked without side effects are CLA and L-Carnitine and a little green tea. Nothing beats a strong cup of black coffee though.0 -
while everyone is quick to say dont waste your time on pills, I say give me every edge possible.
No they arent a solution... or a quick fix... they are however a SUPPLEMENT... something to aid in the proper path to loss.
you gotta be working out, both cardio and weights - you want to build some muscle to burn more fat and you want to do cardio to consume fat and calories.
that said, burners will increase the rate your body turns fat and calories into fuel via thermogenesis. Many argue its just caffeine.
Yes caffeine is the main player - but there are other herbal additives like Yohimbe that MAY aid as well. Even if these add only an additional 1 to 2% burn, folks looking for an edge may want that little extra.
Plus, they do boost energy - more than just coffee.
That said, some folks are not tolerant of caffeine.
BCAAs also aid in improving burn: http://anabolicminds.com/forum/content/maximizing-cardio-1568/
all of that said, there is something to say about the placebo effect. Say what you want, the mind can do things normally not able when it THINKS something is applying influence.0 -

REAL research people.
Most of us don't have the resources to do our own research. That's why we google research done by others.0 -
You can certainly use the Internet to research, but googling a question and looking at what pops up is not investigating the facts.0

The ones that are illegal that you can buy on the street.0

Yeah I agree with the amputation statement. Just work hard and strength training.. Also interval training is GREAT0
