Counting how many chips you eat??

Does anyone else count chips if you eat them? If it says 50 chips is 120 calories, I always count out the number of chips I want to eat then put the bag away. lol..does anyone else do this?? I know chips are bad but i crave a lil junk food sometimes.

Stopped eating chips due to a major jaw surgery (two months of mush, last three weeks just barely chewing) I don't even want them. Strange huh? Before that I used to eye it.0

Don't really eat chips except the occasional single serving bag but I do with almonds, cashews etc.0

Yes, and that is the only way to do it. I eat dried apricots. Healthy, yes. But I could keep on munching if I don't count them and put them on a plate or in a baggie. I am not a chip craver but I really have to avoid chocolate fudge or cakes. In fact, that was why I started eating the dried apricots--to get my mind off chocolate.0

I count my chips out as well at first they laughed at me,and now i have everyone else in my house counting chips now.0

I LOVE Mexican food, and when you go out for Mexican they always serve the chips and salsa on the house. I've been known (not recently!) to eat an entire basket just by myself...so now when we go out for Mexican, I definitely count my chips!0

heck yes! i count and weigh as much as i can! a serving of chips is WAY smaller that what it would seem to be. :noway:0

I count every chip. I also count my peanuts (39 whole peanuts = 160 calories).0

I weigh absolutely everything I eat. I trust that more than I do counting.0

i rarely buy chips and if i do then i know it's just going to eat the entire bag. the way i avoid doing too much damage is to only buy the 99 cents size bag or 2-3 of the quarter sized bag if i want a few different flavors.
at this stage there are still some things i cant have large quantities of in my cupboards0 -

I would count them or weigh the serving. I bought a simple digital scale recently and I love it. it keeps me honest.. I feel I need to do this cause if I understood potion control I probably wouldn't need to lose weight. if I am out or away from home I am forced to guess but the rest of the time I measure. I also log before I eat so I can make adjustement if needed. I don't want any surprises by having to do an extra workout to burn unneeded calories. good practice for when this weight loss thing turns to maintenance.0

I haven't done it with chips but with Quaker Quakes and also Just Born Hot Tamales. It is all about learning what serving sizes of different foods are and look like for me.0

Thinking of getting a scale because I tried the counting out thing and it's just too silly.0 -
I count vegetable chips, nuts, chocolate chips, oat cereal mini biscuits, blueberries, etc. the first couple of times I eat them. And I notice how which size bowl they fill or how much volume they have. I measured how much liquid my glasses hold, what a cup of couscous looks like in a bowl... After that I know about how much makes a serving (or a half serving, double serving, the amount I like to eat) and I use that to track. But occasionally I "spot check" to make sure I haven't drifted away from the serving size. I also do other things like buy ice cream in pint containers -- I get four 1/2 cup servings... if one serving's a bit larger, another will be a bit smaller, so it works out. This way I don't have to measure or count every single thing I put in my mouth -- which I don't see as a maintainable lifestyle change -- but I can still keep reasonably accurate track and as a bonus I get better at estimating amounts, so even in a restaurant or a friend's house, I can make a reasonable estimate of how much I ate.0
