    I haven't done it with chips but with Quaker Quakes and also Just Born Hot Tamales. It is all about learning what serving sizes of different foods are and look like for me.

    I count them, too. I count out exactly 7 tortilla chips for my chicken nachos.

    I weigh them since the "count" is often off.

    I weigh them out, since my chips are 15 chips or 1 ounce (and most are broken)

    I used to count them...but now I just weigh them. Faster and more accurate.

    Funny, since I just ate a whole 2oz bag of Cheetos. .__.;

    Thinking of getting a scale because I tried the counting out thing and it's just too silly. :|

    I count vegetable chips, nuts, chocolate chips, oat cereal mini biscuits, blueberries, etc. the first couple of times I eat them. And I notice how which size bowl they fill or how much volume they have. I measured how much liquid my glasses hold, what a cup of couscous looks like in a bowl... After that I know about how much makes a serving (or a half serving, double serving, the amount I like to eat) and I use that to track. But occasionally I "spot check" to make sure I haven't drifted away from the serving size. I also do other things like buy ice cream in pint containers -- I get four 1/2 cup servings... if one serving's a bit larger, another will be a bit smaller, so it works out. This way I don't have to measure or count every single thing I put in my mouth -- which I don't see as a maintainable lifestyle change -- but I can still keep reasonably accurate track and as a bonus I get better at estimating amounts, so even in a restaurant or a friend's house, I can make a reasonable estimate of how much I ate.

    I measure by weight on my kitchen scale, as that is the most accurate. At least where I live, the usually put the serving amount in grams down as part of the nutritional info, in addition to the count. A serving by "count" varies widely, though, especially in the case of chips, where the size usually isn't uniform.

    Yep, I count them. If I didn't, I could easily eat twice as many as it felt like I ate. I could eat Wavy Lay's and salsa ALL DAY! But I don't.

    I weigh absolutely everything I eat. I trust that more than I do counting.

    Same! I love my food scale.

    I eat baked, cheddar quakes or those new special k cracker chips are good. If it has a weight (like 1 oz) and a count, I find it easier to weigh on the scale.

    I count, weigh, measure everything! When I stopped cause I thought I had the portions sized, my results were minimal! So, I am religious when it comes to proportion sizes! Plus, it keeps me from constantly munching away!

    I use my food scale and measure out the oz./grams per serving. It is much faster and more accurate I think. I got it from Walmart and use it everyday.

    Chips are a big weakness for me since I have a salt tooth not a sweet tooth. I no longer buy the flavors I like. I have instead switched to the Special K flavored crackers. Tortilla chips I will count out if I want nachos. We eat a lot of mexican food in my house.

    Yep. I never really cared for potato chips, but I eat a lot of tortilla chips, and counting is the easiest way to accurately log the. I know I eat a lot fewer per meal now that I'm logging.

    Yup do the same thing lol. Do u ever worry cus some are bigger than others lol?

    Thats why you go by weight. I dont count mine but I weigh them.

    same here -- if it's not a single-serve unit or package, i am probably weighing it before it goes in my face!
