NO ONE SHOULD EVER EAT LESS THAN 1200 calories. Your brain and organs need AT LEAST that much to function correctly. It sounds like you are very conflicted. I would be scared eating such a small amount. Please seek some help so that you can be healthy. Ask yourself - what do I really want out of life? We only have one life to live and I don't think you want to spend yours alone so that you can avoid food. YOU DO HAVE CHOICES even if it feels as if you don't right now. Set a goal for tomorrow - just one - that will take you to a healthier place and when you meet that one set another. I really hope you can get healthier.

Most of us are here because we have some kind of problem with food, exercise, etc. Ideally, we want to improve our health and be fit, not just thin. But you sound obsessed with calories. I am not a doctor, nutritionist, or psychologist, but I think it would be a good idea to consult with at least one of the above. Likely all three in time. The fact that you feel like something is not right, is a sign that you may be on a dangerous road. Thank you for having the courage to post this. I am sure you are not the only one on MFP who feels the same. We are a community here to help support you. Please keep us updated.

First of: please be as honest as you wish....

The thing is, I am happier so a good part of me does not care about my body.

Please be honest, I definitely need it

Honestly, you can't be happy if you're dead. I had an eating disorder when I was a toddler. I choked on a piece of food and went into this little mental bubble of fearing food. I stopped eating, all I did was drink. My parents sought professional help, but all I had were liquids for weeks. My organs literally started to break down, and I could've died, but my psychiatrist finally managed to convince me to eat again.

You do care about your body but your current mentality is that you only care about it getting thinner and thinner. You need to break free of your calorie-fearing thoughts and start thinking in terms of nutrition. What is going to give your body the nutrition it needs to function well enough to lose that last bit of weight? Yes, you will lose weight if you continue to deprive it, but your muscles and your organs are going to be breaking down if you are not giving them the nutrition they need to keep functioning.

Please don't do this to yourself. I almost didn't live past 3 years old, I would've missed out on all that life has to offer. Seek professional help. Force yourself to eat more little by little. Eat vegetables. Eat fruits. Work your calories back up, at least to 1200. I know it will be difficult, but do it little by little. Add an extra 100 calories per day until you get there.

Your life is worth it, give your body what it needs and you will find that there is a healthier way to lose weight. It may take more time to lose than what you're doing now, but at least you'll be alive to see the results. If that sounds morbid to you, it's because this is as honest as it gets.

I'm trying to say this in the nicest way... Have you accepted the fact the you have an eating disorder? Please seek professional help from a physician, dietitian and psychologist. You're doing lots of damage to your body by depriving it of essential nutrients.

I couldn't agrre more. please talk to your doctor. Just like a car needs gas , oil, etc... a body needs calories, protein and yes it even needs fat to keep it running well. I read a few places that even if you do nothing all day your body still burns around 1200 calories a day. Good luck to you.

I think the more you weight, the more ur body burns just sitting around doing nothing. My Resting Metabolic Rate (the number of calories your body requires to maintain itself at rest.) is around 1400 and I'm 5'5 134.6lbs. OP is doing tons of damage to her body.
To OP, i think you do have a eating disorder. As others have said, your relationship with food isn't a healthy one. Please get yourself some help before it gets even more out of hand than it already is.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you need to see a Dr. etc etc, but I think you need to think about your weight and ask yourself, are you happy with it. Most of us would KILL to be 114 lbs, maybe even more. I suggest that you look online and see how many calories you need to consume to maintain your weight and stick there. Work on toning, I am almost positive don't need to lose more "fat" weight. Also, make sure you take a multivitamin, this will help make up vitamins and minerals you may be missing elsewhere. To help increase calories, dip your veggies in ranch, put peanut butter on your celery, drink a glass of milk, etc etc. Good luck!

You obviously know deep down that you are hurting yourself, or you wouldn't have posted in the first place; and acknowledging the problem is both very brave and very sensible. It is a slippery slope when an eating disorder gets a grip of your body and mind and climbing back up may seem scary and as though you will 'undo' everything you think you have achieved so far, but you are intelligent enough to recognise that you need help and support with this.

I agree with everyone else in that you need to speak to your GP, or ask to speak to a specialist dietician team who can help you identify your fears and help you to overcome them. Diet and body image go hand in hand and our minds adjust to seeing how we look, and attributing it to normal (for us); the mirror lies and many people only realise their problem when they see a photo of themselves (large or small).

The first step to helping yourself get fit and well is always hardest as we have to admit to ourselves that we can't do this alone. I commend you completely for already taking that first step by posting this topic, and hope you can begin to take on board the overwhelming advice given here (which isn't professional advice by any means) and take courage in this admission and see it through to the next step.

I wish you the best of luck with your journey xx

Get help!!! Nothing is worth damaging your body...not only can you lose muscle, but your organs can shut down and I'm sure your lacking calcium which makes your bones brittle. If you wind up in the hospital from the damage you know they'll start pumping calories in anyway. So get help, start upping your calories and try taking some daily vitamins too. I'm sure you need those too if you aren't hardly eating anything. Vitamin water is NOT enough!!! Even better get the viactiv chews...they have about 15 calories per chew which are taken twice a day. Good way to sneak in some calories!!!

My heart just breaks for you! You truly need to see a doctor. You need to get medical help, physical and emotional, to help break this destructive pattern. Your body can not survive on that amount of food per day. You are killing yourself slowly. PLEASE seek help, family, friends, or an eating disorder hotline. You have got to stop killing yourself.

Eating less than 1200 calories every day is SUPER unhealthy. It's just as bad as eating too many calories. Find a balance, and if you still have problems, then I agree, seek some help. Its not a bad thing, there are many people who need to get professional help that has the same issues as you do. It's better to be healthy and get help, then deprive your body and cause other factors to come in play.

I've seen you post in other threads before, such as about water fasts and what you are doing is absurd and delusional.

Seek psychiatric help, or a decent support circle that doesn't enable your anorexia.

My goodness some people are so rude on here! 500 calories is plenty (even lower). If it works for you, then do it! However, just make sure your bmi is in the healthy range. It doesn't seem like you have an eating disorder (maybe EDNOS though). If you do drop into the underweight zone, you may develop anorexia if you continue. THEN, you should seek help. :)

****STAFF NOTE**** MyFitnessPal recommends at least 1200 calories a day to prevent yourself from going into starvation mode. We do endorse or recommend eating less then 1200 calories a day. If you are, and are concerned you should contact your doctor or nutritionist immediately.

I used to have anorexia, and I can assure you, you have it too. You CAN overcome it, you can STILL lose weight eating more, and become healthy again. Please seek help now before it gets out of control. If you need ANYONE to talk to, I am here!

Eating 500 calories a day is still considered anorexia. Trust me, I used to have it, and I also almost am graduated with my bachelors of psychology.

I am diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa and I'm trying very very hard to look at food in a positive way. The truth is, the eating disorder never really goes away. It will always be part of you, but you can overcome it if you're supported. Luckily for me, I have a husband that tells me how beautiful I am everyday. I'm starting to believe him.

    Please add me.

    PS: You're beautiful :)

Please go talk to a therapist. You have definitely developed an unhealthy relationship with food and this is not something one should aim for. Losing weight isn't worth the toll it will eventually take on your mental and physical health, not to mention the strained and lost relationships with family and friends. I have seen close friends suffer down this path. Please go talk to someone. You're in my thoughts and prayers, best of luck :)

I checked out your diary and was shocked at what I saw.. how exactly is living off of gum, cough drops , diet soda and coffee healthy?.. Girl ,all I can say is you have an ED and if you keep going like this you will drestroy your health or when /if you start eating again like a normal person you'll gain back everything you lost and then some. Food is not your enemy, it's fuel. start upping your calories little by little with real food-meats,eggs, fruits, vegetables and nuts and please get some help.
