Wow!! Thank you so much for your responses, they are so helpful and def makes sense!!

I'm thinking I'm going to raise it to 100 and see how that goes, I just didn't know if that was "bad" or not!!
I've been trying to pay attention to sodium and carb intake but just happened to notice my protein today!!

    Thanks again :)

2.Intestinal irritation. Too much protein has been linked to constipation, diarrhea and/or excessive gas.

This is what I was going to say, but that's only for some people and only if you are eating a lot of protein...like at least 100g per day. Sounds like you are using MFP standard guidelines, which are quite low for protein.

my weight loss was at a stand still and i didnt know why, i was under calories. turns out i was consuming huge amounts of protein. I wasnt loosing due to my excess protein consumption, and i know this because as soon as i lessened my protein i started losing again.

I typically consume at least 1g of protein per lb of body weight. So I average about 130-150g per day. The default settings on MFP have protein set way too low and carbs set way too high, IMO.

Thank you for your opinion... I've kind of thought so!

according to your home page you lost 51 pounds which I am sure took some time and by looking at your diary you are over on protein almost everyday. Why are you asking this question now?

Honestly... I just recently started to pay attention to any of the numbers besides the cals! lol

I'm a simple person, being under cals was hard enough!! I'm starting to consider all things now, hoping this will continue to help me learn more about how different foods affect my body and my weight loss. Does that make sense??

What are you eating, do tell! I would love to get even close to my protein goal, this is something I really struggle with.

Today is just 2 egg whites, 1 egg, string cheese and yogurt. Oh and also having some turkey on my sandwich for lunch!

??? I am so puzzled, how does that make you over your protein for the day? Did you change your protein settings to be at like 10% protein or something? Please understand, I'm not trying to be snarky or rude, it's just that I eat way more protein than that every day (you can check my diary) and I still never hit my protein goal...

That's the thing!! I have never set my own...hence the reason for the question! lol
Is this enough?? Too little?? Too much?? That was basically my question :)
    Thanks!!

If you workout frequently then its nearly impossible to go over your protein I am a 5'1" 134 lb female and try to eat at least 130g of protein a day. many people make the mistake of not eating enough protein. Protein is key when you are trying to lose weight. Of course you have to stay in your calorie range but fresh healthy cooked meat should not jack your calorie intake up that much. Its the sugars and the carbs that you need to keep an eye on. fats as well.

No, you don't need to be concerned if you go over your protein. Protein is really good for the diet.. it's recommended to eat a lot!

I found part of your problem for today anyway. The Starbuck's drink is showing as 14g in your diary, but their website shows it's only 9 grams of protein for the Grande size.

But it looks like your protein is coming from a variety of sources. It doesn't look bad overall.

Protein is a minimum, it wont hurt you to go over! Carbs are the "filler"!

I have found that MFP sets the protein way low for people who work out a lot! I don't even bother to watch my protein anymore! I have done research and there really is no down fall of having "too much protein" as long as its lean protein!
    ^This!

MFP has the protein settings way too low. That said, I haven't been logging on here very long and I rarely even look at those numbers, but I follow how I ate when I followed The Zone and felt really good (not hungry all the time) while losing about 2 pounds a week with absolutely no exercise. On that plan, you're supposed to balance 7g protein to 9g carbs to1.5g fat per "food blocks". I still haven't worked out how to get this to translate to MFPs food diary, but the point is the protein is pretty close to equivalent of carbs, while the MFP default is very carb heavy.

How do you guys know what your protein, fat, carbs should be set at to make you lose weight? I've just been going off what the website put for me and I'm eating nothing like what it says I should be eating.
