How much do you pay for a gym membership?

Mine is $54.95 a month. Both hubby & I, plus $10 of that is for the child care. Oh and it includes tanning.
Although lately my kids won't calm down enough for me to use that service...ahh well. I haven't been very diligent about going lately, either. I have so much other stuff going on. I used to go at night (it is 24 hr) but hubby switched to 3rd shift...so that's a no go now.
Honestly I like Zumba classes better and I think when my contract is up I will not be renewing.
We checked out Planet Fitness, but it is on the other side of town. I think I should have done a trial there to get the free trainer part. LOL0 -
I'm wacky and I have two memberships. One for each location - one near my house and one near my work and other activities.
24 hour fitness - $20/month. I've been with them forever and I have an all area pass. it was part of a deal and I pray I never lose it!
my local gym is $39/month. VERY worth it. It's usually free of to many people, everyone is really focused on the workout and there is a lot of space to do interesting exercises that I have NO room for at 24 when it's really busy. I go as often as I can, and try to hit some classes here and there. I think if you go a lot, you like to go and you feel comfortable - the money spent is good. I use to spend $49/month on a very nice all ladies gym but I had to leave it when I moved. They had a sauna, sun room, spa-like locker area, great classes...I loved it.0 -
$28 per month YMCA includes classes, and all the amenities: heated pool, suana, ellipitals, treadmills, rpm classes, zumba, water zumba, pilates, yoga, inside track, regular zumba, water aerobics, weights, and much much more.
I also have a membership to Curves but thinking about dropping that because the YMCA offers so much more.0 -
We have a family membership for the YMCA. That's $49 for me and my husband, and our kids to childwatch, plus we can swim and get discounts on kids' sports. It's worth it just for the childcare alone for us.0

I pay $20 a month at a 24 hour gym that's four blocks from my house. It's an okay gym (no classes, showers/locker room, etc.) but I don't have a car so it works fine for me. As long as they have treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, and A/C, I'm good.0

My husband and I each pay $45 / month at Xanadu Health Club, great equipment, sauna, steam room, state of the art facility. Well worth the $$0
-
I do a trade I teach preschool during the school year twice a week and they give my family free memberships and free preschool. But if I had to pay for the 5 of us it would be 110 a mo and I would pay it., because it includes lots of classes and has great amenities. If it was just the workout equipment without the classes I wouldn't do it.0

Mine is $24.95/m at Snap Fitness with no contract. Well worth it.:happy:0

I pay $23 a month for 24 hour fitness but I don't have kids and my job pays for the rest of the bill.0

Anytime Fitness COMPLETELY screwed me over. I was living in Fernley NV (next nearest gym was 40 miles away)...so I went in and told them that I was going to be moving in November of 2011 (it was June), but would love to join their gym. The OWNER told me 'No problem! Just let us know when you move and we'll cancel the membership no problem!'.
LIES.
I moved, told them, they put my account on a 3 month hold...telling me it was cancelled...then started billing me again without warning. The only way to get out of it was to pay an exorbitant 'cancellation fee' by a certain date, or they'd just keep billing me $35/mo. I called the owner (who would only answer if I blocked my number...then quit doing even that)...no help.
Never again.0 -
I have a nice deal of $15 month.. just me.. no contract...0
-
$72 a month, Hubby has a corporate membership so this $72 is actually discounted for me!0
-
I workout at my local YMCA and I received a scholarship through the Open Doors Program, so I pay $18 a month and get all the benefits of a full membership and 30% off member fees for any non-included programs I may want to use.0
-
I pay $30 and thats only cause I work for a PD and they have a discount 40 normally. But I also have to drive 20miles to get to it...So it gets expensive here.0
-
I go to the YMCA in Delaware the membership is $68.00 a month but they have a open door program so I pay $15.00 a month for me and my 3 kids we go swimming, they get to do classes its really great
I LOVE the Open Doors program at the YMCA. I would never have been able to afford the onetime membership fee and the monthly fee. I pay the same, if not less, to workout at a place that has a pool, sauna, hot tub, classes..etc, than some of my friends who only have a cardio and weight room to use at the gyms they have memberships to.0 -
And to join with all the fees, they charge last month and first month, it would be a total of $160! The cheapskate in me is saying no way in hell, I don't need to sign up for a gym.
Say that when you sit down with the sales person to discuss your visitor experience. Tell him/her that you would love to join but refuse to pay the registration and sign up fees. I did this when I signed up for 24 HR Fitness. I said I would only agree to pay first and last months membership fees and nothing beyond that. The guy said "We can't do that" so I said "Ok, thank you for your time" and started to walk away. He called me back and was able to get "permission" to waive the extra fees
I pay $40/month for my membership, but it includes access to the higher level clubs which come with free locker use and towel service, which I LOVE! I go about 3-5x a week, so it is worth it to me. I would never exercise as much without the classes offered there.0 -
€250 per year. That's a student deal. They won't let me pay by month0
-
I quit going to mine since it is so nice out and I can walk or run outside, but at the one I was going to it was about 27 bucks. And that was with my student discount. There wasn't a signup fee and it was month to month so no termination fees either!0
-
I pay 20$ per month to snap fitness, 24 hrs and any location.
to think I thought that was expensive, but seeing what others are paying, I feel much better0 -
$45 including 'some' classes. No pool. Tanning extra.0
-
I'm from Boston & when I had a membership, I was paying $80 for a student rate. Granted, that was the nicer, female only gym, but it was still expensive. Though, I still find it ironic that I got my but in gear and started losing weight and changing my habits after I QUIT the gym. ;-) lol. It's true. The outdoors, biking, home videos and single boxing classes suited me better. Good luck with all the kids.0

I need to move to the US! Mine is just over $100/month. That's just for me, a single membership and no childcare or perks... Australia is an expensive place to live :ohwell:
Same here, I'm in New Zealand and the gym I go to is also just over $100/month for one person, childcare is available but costs $10 per session (discounted to $7.5 if you buy multiticket. Has no pool, but as it is a Les Mills has got all the Les Mills classes, has nice showers/locker area, the very cheapest gym here is a 24 hr no frills, no classes gym and that costs $24 per fortnight, so around $50 per month.0 -
I pay £33 GBP per month which includes the gym and a 50 m pool but no classes. It's non-contract and is the cheapest in the area most are well over £50 per month with a year contract). It's attached to the university so it is busy with students during semester but nice and quiet now it's the summer break. It's also half way between work and home so I have to go past it everyday which makes it easier to make me get there as I've no excuse.
In September we have the first budget gym opening in the area , The Gym Group, and membership will be £10.99 per month. That wont have a pool but I'll definitely try it out. It'll be 24 hr too.0 -
£58 a month. it's joint though0
-
£35 or $54 per month.
That includes:
- All classes (full spectrum of spinning, RPM, Body Pump, Body Combat, Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Circuits, Crossfit... bla bla)
- Full free weights room
- Resistance & Cable machines
- The usual array of treadmills, cross trainers, steppers, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, C2 rowers etc etc
- Boxing room with bags etc
- a room with TRX bands, fitballs, BOSU balls...
- an olympic size (50m lengths) swimming pool
- sauna, steamroom & jaccuzi
It's a friggin BARGAIN!!! :bigsmile:0 -
We've got the choice of everything from £10 per month to well over £50 here where I live. I'm not actually bothered about joining one as I travel to/from work by bicycle or running (7 miles each way) but a local has started offering "blocks" of 15 sessions for £30 with no joining fee and no recurring costs. Seemed like a fair deal for getting access to a pool, classes and some decent weights0
-
$0 work has a gym I can use for free. Also starting with a personal trainer there, because they are in training they are also free.0
-
£10/month.0
-
Virgin Active
$26/week
$58/week PT sessions
well worth it.
edit: so $84 per week. I'm a student and struggle to pay for the PT sessions but I'm glad I'm doing it.
my gym membership includes: 175 classes per week, pool, sauna, spa, cardio machines, and weights.0
