Fit N' Fun-Sized - WEEK 4!

My quads are so sore every step sends sharp pains racing from my knees to my hip flexors, and stairs are actually frightening.
I think I will have to take today as a rest day. I'm really disappointed!!! I'm only allotted 1300 calories today so I'll be in a deficit anyway, but I HATE taking unscheduled breaks. I know I won't be able to run tonight though. Instead I'm cleaning my apartment and doing some Christmas shopping.
What did you do?0 -

Well I haven't taken an actual rest day in something like 3 weeks. On my 'rest' days, I was still doing 20 min on the elliptical and doing about 20 min. of yoga. Pair that with 3 full-body days a week and running several miles every other day and being in a large deficit...yea. I didn't do anything specifically to my quads yesterday, but I think the 50 min on the elliptical and the hang cleans were enough to push me over the edge.0 -
I finished my cardio for this morning. I didn't do my PM workout last night, but i did stay in my calorie limit. I'm going clothes shopping later. Don't really wanna go bc I know im gonna get mad that I didn't drop a pants size yet & I started on here in mid-october. Hopefully I wont be lazy tonight and get my 30 mins (at least) of cardio in tonight.0

WHOA!!!!!!!!! That is a lot on your body. You should really be careful you don't overdo it. BUt then again congrats on all your hard work.0 -
Songbrid - way to go at the party! You motivate us all to push it.
I ate clean yesterday, did my workouts etc. I ate too much clean food after 7:30pm, however the scale was still in the 100.4 range. so I guess I needed the calories. Way to go metabolism.
Todays plan:
1) Shoulders and Arms (done - increased weights on several items from 15# to 17# and one of the bicept ones I increased to 20#!
2) 8th day of Fitness at the onsite gym
3) Eat clean, aim for 1300 calories
4) Church supper tonight so I am going to bring my own "healthy" foods to eat
5) Focus on being successful today(meeting, and not exceeding todays goals), and by doing that I will make myself more joyful tomorrow.0 -
Day 27 of the challenge is complete. I had boot camp today and boy did she BRING IT. Our boot camp instructor gave us her version of "The Amazing Race". We were partnered up and the objective was to be the first team to complete the following exercises:
25 alternating lunges w/shoulder press, 25 crunches, 25 bicycles, 25 toe touches, 25 high knees, 25 butt kicks, 25 jump squats, 100 jumping jacks, 35 step up/knee ups, 150 jump ropes, 30 push ups, 30 partner sit-ups, 25 dumbbell raises, 50 squats, 25 squats w/shoulder press, 30 hip raises w/chest press, 20 burpees, 30 twisting mountain climbers, 25 front raises, 25 lateral raises, 30 push ups (again) and 30 steam engines. There may have been other exercises but I cant remember at the moment.
My partner and I came in first so we'll receive our prize on Friday. I'm unsure of the number of calories burned but I'M SURE it was over 500 b/c I had sweat blinding me from it pouring all in my face and my heart rate was elevated the entired time.
I am proud of the progress I made b/c when we did this a few weeks back my partner and were unable to complete all of the exercises prior to the instructor calling "time". Today, not only were we the first team but we finished in record time.0 -

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: congratulations.......you have worked so hard on this every day I'm not surprised that you made such extraordinary progress   :bigsmile:0 -
Just finished my PM hour of cardio & stayed under my calories! Those were my two goals for tonight. Proud of myself :drinker: :drinker:0
-
Completed 3.16 miles last nite! Will rest today and tomorrow and then be completely ready for Saturday. Feel really good and so ready for this.0

I ate clean yesterday, did my workouts etc. I ate clean, had 1300 calories, brought most of my own food to the church supper and ate it ...not the snacks they offered. It was a successful day yesterday and the scale said so too.
Todays plan:
1) Yoga (did 30 min but...didn't really get much out of it....maybe do more later, not sure - I'd rather do cardio)
2) Workout (either spinning class tonight, or something at noon like Kenpo...or both!)
3) Eat clean, aim for 1300 calories
4) Eating at school wtih my kids for noon. Might have to bring some of my own food, at least they are having Turkey!
5) Focus again on being successful today(meeting, and not exceeding todays goals), and by doing that I will make myself more joyful tomorrow.0 -
40 mins of circuit training-DONE
Tonights goal:
30 mins of cardio & stay within calories.
Hope everyone has a good day :flowerforyou:0 -
I am short on time today b/c I'm about to head to a meeting but day 28 is complete. I was able to burn 267 calories after 30 minutes on the stairmaster (not the stepper but the actual moving stairs) so I hoped on the treadmill for another 30 minutes and burned 265 calories. My total for today is 532 calories burned and only 2 days left for this challenge.....YIPPEE....YIPPEE....YIPPEE!!!0

I love your challenge , I think I might try this starting January 1, my boot camp will have ended, this should keep me going nicely!!
PS You ROCK!!!0 -
Choco, you are doing GREAT!!
Today I weighed in for my New Years group and I'm already down to 130.6--1.4 lbs in 5 days, yikes! I think that explains my soreness.:ohwell: This morning I did 30 min. of *light* fasted cardio and a lot of stretching before I drove home to my parents'. A 4 hour drive--I'm feeling sort of stiff! In a couple hours I'm heading to the gym for push day and cardio. I packed all my meals for the day so I wouldn't be tempted to eat anything bad on the road. It actually turned out to be a very high-veggie, low-sodium day!0 -
Hey Everyone - Things have been stressful this week with substitute teaching every day, so I missed the link to this post until today.
I hope everyone is doing well this week!0 -
Did my PM goal of 1 hour of cardio--30 mins over my goal. Went slighty over my calories tho.0
-
Sorry i have been MIA!!!Ive been slacking hardcore! Just started back my diet today i have been working out here and there im still where i was soo boo but today was a great day! Gonna do some abs before bed!0

I ate clean yesterday, did my workouts, had 1300 calories, It was a successful day yesterday and the scale said so too. Although, the scale probably is reflecting the fact that i did a 5:45pm Road Trip (spinning) class. So, Well I enjoyed seeing 98.4 but, I'm not really expeciting it to last.
I only ate the Turkey at the School lunch yesterday. I got a few looks but, I don't really care anymore. I want to be healthy for me and this is what it takes. I had my protein shake along...my daughter looked at me like she cared but, she seemed to get over it. Anyway Woot! Woot! Its Friday!!
Todays plan:
1) Legs and Back, and Ab Ripper X (Done)
2) Elliptical
3) Eat clean, aim for 1300 calories
4) Eating at school wtih my kids for noon. Might have to bring some of my own food, at least they are having Turkey!
5) Focus again on being successful today(meeting, and not exceeding todays goals), and by doing that I will make myself more joyful tomorrow.0 -
Day 29 of the challenge is officially complete. Today was the last day of exercise boot camp (next session begins January 4, 2010) and we had to do a final weigh in w/measurements and a fit test. So here's the deal, I'm down a total of 5 lbs in six weeks. I would be very discouraged if I hadn't actually lost 4% body fat too. I'm not sure why my weight is increasing but my body fat percentage is decreasing but I have to stay motivated. I know my goal weight of 125 lbs is attainable but this process can be very frustrating at times.
Now that I'm off my soapbox let me share the great news. I won the "star camper" award which is an award giving to the camper who came to boot camp everyday, gave 100% while there, submitted their food logs on a consistent basis and completed every homework assignment. As a result of winning this award I received $25.00 off my next boot camp session and an "Eating Clean" by Tosca Renos cookbook. My partner and I also won a gift card to Smoothie King for winning the biggest loser contest we had on Wednesday.
Finally, here are the results from the weigh in and fit test.....drum roll please.............
Starting weight: 136 lbs Current weight: 131 lbs
Starting body fat%: 30.8% Current body fat%: 26.8%
Starting chest: 33 inches Current chest: 31 inches
Starting waist: 32 inches Current waist: 28 inches
Starting hips: 38 inches Current hips: 36.25 inches
The fit test was timed, so, the numbers I'm giving are what was completed in 1 minute
Initial push ups (knees): 40 Current push ups (knees): 51 (I can now do 20 standard push ups)
Initial toe touches: 54 Current toe touches: 70
Initial seated dips: 50 Current seated dips: 63
Initial jumping jacks: 84 Current jumping jacks: 90
Initial squat presses w/5lbs weights: 35 Current squat presses w/5lbs weights: 47 (I've since moved to 8 lbs weights)
Initial burpees: 16 Current burpees: 22
So despite not losing as much weight as I had hoped I am very encouraged b/c not only is the little black dress beginning to fit a little better but I'm clearly getting stronger and my endurance is increasing......YEAH CHOCOLICKKYSS.
In addition to this we did some other exercises. Not exactly sure of the calories burned but the way I was sweating and how elevated my heart rate was i'm sure I met the challenge.
Have a great weekend all.0 -

Thank you for the positive feedback b/c we all need it (smile). So you do cardio twice a day, is there a particular reason? I'm always looking for ways to switch things up especially if there's going to be an added benefit.0 -
So I didn't completely rest last nite. I went on the treadmill and did hill intervals for an hour. Walked at 3.5 mph and did really well. Was able to read a book and I sweated a lot so I know I did good. My heart rate wasn't as high as it is when I run but two different activities. Today I will do some shopping...that will be my "exercize." Tomorrow is the 5k!!! So excited about it. I will let you all know how I do.0

I kinda have to do it like that cause I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old. He can only entertain himself for about 1/2 hour to 45 mins before he starts to get antsy. I need to work out for more than a 1/2 hour a day, so I try to do 30-60 mins at night after he is asleep. I wish i could knock it out in one shot, but you gotta do what you gotta do right? Wish I could say there was a benefit to it, but i don't think so lol. It does help that I start out fresh at night with more energy then I would have if I did the whole hour together. Plus I usually go over my calories and exercise to break even lol. What can i say, I love my food!0 -

LOL.....I sure do love me some food too. I have a friend that also loves her food but fortunately for her she doesn't really gain any weight. It might not be the healthiest for her to eat ice cream almost every night before bed but she enjoys it and I can't lie sometimes I wish I could do that too. It seems like if I look at food too long I gain weight....LOL.
Thank you for answering my question, really appreciate it.

Hoep everyone has an awsome weekend and I will check in Monday mornign as I will be away from MY scale all weekend.0
-
Chocolickkyss- I used to be like your friend, but not no more! Thats how i gained all this weight--by thinking I could still eat like that but obviously times have changed!! Oh how i miss pre-bedtime cake lol.
Completed both my PM goals:
60 mins of dancing (burned about 290 cals)
Stayed within my calories.0 -
Chocolickkyss:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: congratulations on your success at boot camp. I think it's awesome. Real people lose weight moderately just like you did----you stayed focused, lost weight, lost inches, and gained strength and endurance.
:flowerforyou: Breezy, it's possible to eat right no matter where you are if you place your principle of healthy living ahead of other stuff (like "fitting in" or "what will people think") You can eat healthy and decline food that is bad for you and find time for some sort of exercise if you stay focused on your goal. Good luck:bigsmile:
:flowerforyou: jzbaby, someone said that the best exercise is the one you'll do, so if breaking up your workout into smaller pieces is something you can do, then it's a great choice. We all have limitations imposed by family, job, pets, health, weather, so we all have to find out what works........only the people on the Biggest Loser have exercise as the main focus of their day, the rest of us have to fit our exercise around the rest of our responsibilities.
There was cake at line dance today and I said "No, thank you" and nobody cared.
I went to line dance class, walked for 45 minutes at the dog park while the dogs played, spent 30 minutes on the stationery bike and will be back on the bike in a few minutes.0 -

Barbiecat, you are TOTALLY AWESOME because you are so motivating and supportive. Thank you for all the kind words and great job with how you continue towards meeting your goal.0 -
Just a quick fly by. AM weight was 99.8 - teetering to 99.6 but, AWESOME!!!! I can't complain with that. I have my meals planned and I have finished my exercise. I was to do Kenpo+ which is a 40min routine (with cooldown). I did it 2x. It really made me feel good to get that in and done. Now, off to sunday school practice, then bowling (both with kids). Gotta get goin.
Focus on today...tomorrow we weigh in for real!!
