Life after the C25K?
Today was Week 7 Day 2 of the C25K for me - I have a 5K on Thursday so I changed up the route day 1 and day 2 to be a full 5K distance so it wouldn't smack me upside the head on thursday when it was longer than I was used to. What I've been doing is run 25 (this that's the scheduled workout this week - run 25m with no…

Finished the program, but...
So, rather unbelievably, I finished C25k! I was so, so proud of myself. It took me a long time, I had to restart a couple of times and I had to repeat weeks 4 and 5, but I finally got there. But that was two weeks ago. And since then, I haven't been able to duplicate my success. When I try to run, I can't seem to go any…

Week 5 to week 6
Can someone explain why we go from a solid 20 minutes back to intervals? I feel so accomplished for running 20 I want to try again!

Sneaker Question
Ok. So I am pretty new to running and I want a new pair of running sneaks...problem is...sales people. I have legit questions and they automatically point me to the 150.00 shoe LOL. Of course they need to go for the sale....but I feel like they don't listen to what I am saying. I have been looking at a pair of Saucony's…

Week 5 Day 3... the dreaded 20 min run. Success!
I got sick last week. Double ear infection not walking straight sick. I was unable to get my runs in. Today I felt back to normal so I thought I'd go ahead and give my next day a try. It was the Week 5 Day 3 aka the.20.minute.run. I panicked!! Then I thought, just get out there and do what you can and if you repeat the day…

New to Your Group
Hi everyone! I'm new to your group and I started C25K for the 1st time on August 1st.... being aggressive as I am I started it running 6.0 mph (treadmill) and with randmom inclines.... Week 1... Success Week 2... Success Week 3... Success Week 4.... Success WEEK 5... OMG!!! I am repeating it for the 3rd time this week and…

thought for WEEK 3
"First, the ligaments, tendons and bones will adapt more slowly to running than your cardiovascular system. By running just three or four days a week for three weeks, you can get to the point where your 2-mile or 3-mile runs start to feel easier. You may want to run faster. Resist that urge. It takes weeks for your…

Running form?
As I get ready to start C25k, I've noticed I walk heel toe, but I run on my toes. (Read run as run to catch the bus, run across the street so as not to get hit by a car). I am not coordinated to begin with. Making myself run correctly is going to be hysterical to watch.

Running shoes
OK, I keep seeing everywhere that you absolutely have to go to a specialist shop and get running shoes that fit your gait. Well, I live in the back of beyond, and the nearest sports shop that does gait assessment is a 140 mile round trip from here. So my question is - is it absolutely IMPERATIVE that you get your gait…

Starting today! Care to join me?
Today will be W1D1 and I'm very excited about it! Shoot me a friend request if you'd like to do the program with me! I guessing having friends at the same spot in the program will really help as we tackle the various weeks!

What Animal are You ??
So one of my fellow C25Kr described herself as a wounded animal. I realized that was a good desription of me when I jog... So.... what animal do you look like when you run / jog ??? I'll start... I look like a... PENGUIN !! Short, hoppy little steps. And probably flapping my wings to keep my balance. At least I haven't…

Should I do a leg workout on a rest day?
I know the days of rest are for recuperating. I don't worry about doing my arm workout on rest days, but what about legs? I am in W4D3 tomorrow, but want to go work my legs tonight at the gym. Will I jeopardize my C25K program by not fully resting my legs tonight?

Just Kicked Week 5 Day 3's @$$!
Hello All! I've been dreading it since starting week 1 day 1.... the 20 min run of Week 5... Well I'm happy to say that I just completed it! I've never ever ever been a runner, athletic yes, runner heck no and now I feel like one!!! Was I fast? Not particularly, but steady yes, my 2 miles had an 8 second difference in time…

So I did it! What now?
Hey everyone! So I completed C25k tonight, woop! I have been doing it in time rather than distance, but I decided I would go the whole 5k tonight. I did this is 32 mins 33 seconds, which I am very happy about. I have an official 5k on the 30th September, and I wanted some advise on how to improve my time. Do I just keep…

W2D1 - Done Today
Is anyone else on the same schedule? Would love to have a 'buddy' here to keep track with. :)

NSV....slow heart rate!
Earlier this week, I sliced a nice chunk of my thumb off while using a mandoline (be careful!). We managed to stop the bleeding and the missing chunk was really small so I didn't go to the ER. Two days later, I wanted to make sure everything was ok and went to the Dr. While dealing with that, the nurse listened to my heart…

running etiquette (and spitting)
Obviously it is gross to spit on the sidewalk, period. I am a new runner and I do not typically ever spit. However I have had a couple circumstances since I started my running program on Aug 1st where I really had to spit. I looked around me and did not do it with anyone around and did it in the woods no where near the…

How many of us have a 5K the wknd of 9/8?
I've been seeing a lot of posts lately and it seems a good amount of us have a 5K on the weekend of September 8th. If you do, is it your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc? What's it called? I'll go first: I do on Saturday the 8th. It'll be my 1st 5k ever and I won't be fully completed with the C25K, but I'm pushing myself to finish it…

schedule advice for the week before the 5K?
Hi! I've learned so much from all the posts here... this is a really great group!! I will finish the C25K program a week (8 days) before the 5K. (October 14 is the day!!) I have never run a 5K before and was wondering what schedule people did the week before? Do you folks run every day?... and with what you do run, do you…

Breathing!
Hey all! I'm starting week 3 tomorrow, and I am having a hard time controlling my breathing. I feel like if I could get that down, then this would be much easier for me! Any tips?

wk4 R2, now knee pain but don't want to lose momentum
Ok, so I have done 2 runs from week 4, and I'm due to do run 3 tomorrow. This means I will have had 2 rest days, when I usually have one. My knee has been a little tender today in the muscle above my right knee. I went for a brisk walk, trying to walk gently, with short strides so as not to aggravate my knee more. I really…

Anyone have trouble with W6 D2?
I bonked D2 of week 6 today. I think it's more that I shouldn't have tried to eat yesterday - my daughter's first day of school ever was today and I was emotional, my head wasn't in the game, I really didn't eat much last night because I was emotional...so I think that's more the culprit than the run itself, but I did my…

Is anyone starting this again or soon or recently??
I just started the C25k today and would love to know if anyone else is??

This is hard!
I'm only on day 2 of week one. This is really hard but I'm not going to let myself quit. My 10 year old daughter is doing it with me which helps. If she wasn't with me today I'm not sure I would have finished. I don't want her to see me give up and this is a good thing for her to do too. I was a little ambitious. We walked…

Fast tracking
I've been plugging away at my C25K program for awhile now and I'm at Week 7 Day 1. When I registered for my first 5K I only had 5 weeks to do the program, not 9 like they suggest so I've been fast tracking. Race day for me is Sept 16th. I know they say don't do that but I've had alot of success doing it. I've had one…

Goodbye Intervals - Starting week 7 mid August?
This week starts week 7 for me. No more intervals....who's with me? I'm looking forward to the change - and to just trying to push a little farther each week. How about you? Nervous? Excited? Let me know how it goes for you. KP

C25k: It begins again!
(Week One, Day One.) I started C25k a few months ago and found I couldn't keep up with the program due to my commitments to my children. Now my son is in Kindergarten, I'm starting again. (I felt bad expecting him to keep up or telling him to stand on the stroller as we jogged!) I have a few questions. ~ When I hit week 2…

Starting W1D1 today...anybody else want to join?
I'm starting W1D1 today (after quitting in week 5 a few months ago and feeling horrible about it) is there anybody that is a "newbie" and ready to do this together? Any motivation that we can give each other will just be that extra boost that we all need to complete the prgram :)

Anyone on week 3?
I'd love to add others who are around the same place in the program! How are you all doing? I have NEVER liked running. In high school I'd always be in that group who would walk most of the timed mile rather than run it. Even now, yearrrrrs after being done with high school I wasn't able to run even a minute without…

5k + warmup
I have a question about the 5K run at the end of this (which happens to be this Friday!! Yay!) . How many of you include the 5 minute brisk walk warmup as part of the 5K distance? Or do you do the warm up and then start the actual 5K part. I'm just wondering, because if you include the walking as part of it you won't…
