Running in the desert
So I started the c25k challenge at 210lbs because the heat in Vegas is killing me with my weight. Anyone have any suggestions on how to run for extended periods of time in temperatures as high as 130 degrees? I bring a bottle of water and stay hydrated but man is it hard. Even suggestions on proper nutrition in this heat…

Android App to help me keep pace?
I'm in Week 5 and I'm starting to think about the pace of my run. Is there an Android app that will give me an audible cue for what pace I'm running? Nothing fancy, I don't need to track the progress of the Olympic track team My C25K app shows me what pace I did after my run, but that doesn't help me much WHILE I am…

Best iPhone arm band
Hi there, As I am doing the Couch25K, I am looking for a band to go around my arm to hold my iPhone 4S while I run. I ordered one from Amazon called a Tune Band, but it cut into my arm and was very uncomfortable. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences with other arm bands you want to share? Many thanks in advance…

Speed?
This is my second time doing c25k. The first time I made it to week 7 and then we moved and I missed running or walking that matter for over 3 weeks. I am now on week 3 day 3 and surprisingly it is going well. However, I get so frustrated because I am so slow. If I really run I can not finish the full 3 minutes, but I feel…

PAIN!!!
3 WEEKS IN AND I HAVE SEVERE RIGHT ANKLE/FOOT PAIN. I THINK ITS TENDINITIS. WHAT CAN/SHOULD I DO TO TRY AND TREAT THIS WITHOUT GOING TO THE DR? I HATE THE THOUGHT OF NOT RUNNING TODAY. I AM AFRAID I LOSE WHAT STRENGTH I HAVE GAINED. ANYONE EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

Tips for regulating speed
When I am not on a treadmill I run too fast and tire out easily. I have no idea how to figure out how fast I am running when I am not on the treadmill. What can I do to try and maintain a decent pace when I am running outdoors?

Did I graduate?
Last night was W8D2 of Ease into 5k, which is only an 8 week program. The workout called for a 5 min warmup, 29 min. jog/run, and a 5 min. cooldown. Due to a ipod/user malfunction, I ended up running for 34 minutes instead of 29. The next run is only supposed to be 30 min. So, although I haven't completed the last run, I…

I wish my lungs would catch up to my legs!!
So I've repeated week 1 per Dr orders- did w1d1 three times, w1d2 three times, and w1d3 twice (will do this day again on Thursday, and Saturday). Tonight I was doing so well- all of my run intervals were at least 4 mph, and two of 'em were 6 mph. My legs really are pushing me along, and the knees/shins/hips/back have quit…

Running: Changes in your body
I was wondering what changes everyone else sees since starting to run. I notice my leg muscles are more sculpted, as well as less fat on my arms. I feel like my core has gotten stronger, but I still have that stubborn layer of fat on my middle/lower abs that refuses to go away. What changes have you noticed? I added…

C25K and weight training?
I on week 5 and loving it. This is all I am doing for exercise. Are most of you also doing a weight training routine on your days off? I've been thinking about it but don't want to deal with sore muscles from weights while I try to reach my running goal. Advice?

New to C25k
Hi all, I've attempted C25k in the past. I only made it to week 6 before I quit. I'm not quitting this time!!! I just finished week 1 and will start week 2 tomorrow. My issue is when running, my breathing gets so heavy that it feels like someone is sitting on my chest. No matter how much I breathe in, I feel like my lungs…

End of Week Two
Well I made it to the end of week two, but not 100% sure i'm going fast enough. My legs certainly think I am!!! Will start week 3 on Tuesday and a bit worried about the leap from 90 secs to three minutes. So please tell me it gets easier :noway: !! Vickyx

No strength in legs!
Hi I did W4D1 today and really struggled with running continuously for 5mins. My heart and my breathing are Ok and I don't feel that is the problem - it is more the muscles in the thigh part of my legs that are the problem. They really ache after about 3 mins (not really painful - just no strength!) and I don't feel able…

classictoaster's progress!
Alright guys I'm just going to make a thread for my progress here on out instead of creating new threads per week. d: Today I finished W6D1. I gotta say - it was tough. I think a large portion of that was due to not enough water pre-run - for some reason the water was shut off at the office for a substantial amount of time…

W5D3: Take that!
I woke up feeling crappy. I was tired and a little sick to my stomach and just didn't get enough sleep. I had to get this run out of the way in the morning or it wasn't going to happen, so despite my disposition, I set out. I managed to cover about two miles during the 20 minute run interval for a 10 minute mile pace! I'm…

HILLS
Normally I am at the gym by 530 and on the treadmill at 540. I do my C25K runs there. I took the day off from work today and decided to run outside - wasn't prepared at all for how much the hills were going to kick my butt. Mapmyrun measured it at 3 miles and +272ft and HC5/2 - an easy hill run. LIARS! Now I will have to…

Thinking ahead- buy a treadmill or join the gym?
Im thinking ahead to our brutal winters here in north western Ohio...I very much prefer the summer heat over the winter cold and ICE....Should I just buy a treadmill? (I already have a small weight machine thing and a ball/bands...thinking about the Total Gym as well) or join a gym? I can't decide.

Avoiding hills from now on!
Hi, So I just started week 2 today. I mapped out a good looking route on walkrunjog.net which was about 3.3km. As I had just finished my 5min warm up I came to a really long hill, then the voice in my head said "begin running"... This almost made me fail W2D1, my abs were screaming at me and the 2min rest intervals were…

It took a while...
But today I finally graduated. W8 was okay but W9 was a struggle and I kept having to walk just after halfway so didn't want to graduate until did 3 non stop runs on a row. It took 7 goes to get 3 in a row but I managed it today. I ran for 5K straight today in 36.27mins!!! My first 5K is in October and I WAS aiming for…

Starting C25K and need to lose 50+ lbs?
Hello everyone! I am starting C25K (again!) this week and am looking for buddies with similar goals. I have tried it before but quit because I didn't push myself hard enough mentally. I made excuses about being too heavy to run and all that other crap. Well, I'm tired of it! I found MFP through my best friend and am soooo…

Finished W5D3...
And I am so unbelievably proud of myself. I feel like I'm back to my track and cross country days when I was younger! It DEFINITELY is a mental block that makes us feel like a 20 minute run is impossible.. I actually found it easier to accomplish then some of the shorter days. From here on out, C25k looks easy. The max…

W8 Again
I tried doing week 8 while on vacation last week. The exercise and the diet went off the tracks despite reasonable efforts to maintain if not improve. for C25k, did eh day one, kicked butt day 2 and day 3 was a disaster. Have decided to redo week 8 in its entirety. Felt good this morning for day 1 again and keeping my…

What's a good goal time for my first 5k?
I *think* I've been training at about a 12 min mile pace. Is it reasonable to think I could run a 5k in 36-38 minutes? I'm planning on signing up for a race that's scheduled for what should be my W9D3 workout. I'm so excited!

Yiiipppppeeeee!!!!!!
Just completed week 3 day 1. Was so scared that I wouldn't be able to run for 3 mins but I did it! I really can't believe it . I totally agree with the comments on here that sometimes it is the fear that holds you back - this is the third time I have started C25K but never got past week 1!

Needing C25K friends!!
Hey guys. I started W4D1 today and I did great!! None of my friends are doing C25K so i'm struggling to find support and I have a feeling in these last 5 weeks, i'm going to need it. I'm 22 and needing to lose 49 more pounds. I've already lost 14 in 28 days!! Any support would be better than no support!! :)

Bye guys! Good luck!
Just wanted to say bye to everyone on here, thanks for all the help and good luck!! I did my last run last week and am now moving on to Bridge to 10k. This is the second time I've completed C25k...I firmly believe in this program. It has seriously changed my life! I'll still log in and check with you guys and offer what…

Running with asthma?
I just started training for a 5k. I have asthma with lung capacity currently at 50%. Any asthmatic runners out there who want support? I'm also trying to lose weight. The 5k I'm training for is Oct 27.
