Transitioning from the treadmill to outside?
I'm currently only on week 2 of the program and I have been mostly using the treamill for my runs. Right now the treadmill is just easier for me as I'm a single mom and tend to get on it after my son has gone to bed for the night. Once I'm done the full 9 weeks I plan on registering for a 5K. What is going to be the…

First 5k...
Currently between c25k W7 and W8. Entered and finished my first 5k! Easier than I had envisioned. Completed under my goal time! Ran faster than my normal training pace...

1st 5K this weekend....
and I just want to say that even though I didn't follow the program by the letter, I really appreciate all of the support and encouragement I have gotten on here. Without it and all the tips/advice you all have given me, there's no way I'd be ready to run this race on Saturday. Now I feel like I can go out there and kill…

C25K Week 8 Day 3
I typed "C25K Week 8 Day 3" into my exercise diary this morning. I seriously can't believe I can run for 28 minutes straight. I have NEVER done this in my life. But I didn't just run 28, I ran a whole 30 minutes non-stop. And you know what? I'm going to keep doing it...in fact we're going to start the Bridge to 10K the…

Running vs Jogging - What's the Difference?
I "run" about a 13 minute pace, but I don't know if I'd call it running... So what's the difference between running and jogging? Do you have to jog before you can run?

First 5K and Graduation
I just got the all clear from my work and will be running my first 5K on Saturday August 4th, which I just counted out and is technically my graduation from the program! I'm a little nervous since I won't have run the full 5k before, but maybe I'll push myself on Week 8 day 2. Anyway, I'll need all the luck I can get! Goal…

Training Alteration--Need Advice
So normally my workout schedule is as follows: Mon/Wed Strength Training, Tues/Thurs/Sat C25K, Friday Rest Day, Sunday 60 min Power Walk. Next week I have to go to Vegas for a wedding; I leave on Friday and get back on Monday. As you all can imagine, it's going to be a busy weekend. I've been making great progress and…

3 months to get to week 4?! :(
Hey guys, I'm starting to feel really discouraged with c25k. I've been doing it since May, and I still can't even finish week 4. I'm having trouble with meeting my calorie goals (too few) but I don't think that'd be a reason to not be able to finish, right? I didn't start the program carrying excess weight or anything that…

Any fans of the Grit Doctor out there?
I've just starting jogging/walking again after reading Run Fat ***** Run, excellent inspiration. Anyone else out there found they're inner b&*tch? :)

Leg/Muscle Cramps
I'm on week 7 and I've started to notice that i'm getting some leg cramps after I run. anyone else have this problem? any suggestions on how to get rid of them? I drink a protein drink after my run and stretch and warm up.

I did it!
Tonight, I fully jogged my first 5K race, no walking. I was on week 7 of c25k last October when I fractured my ankle. I fractured the same ankle in a different spot in February. The doctor gave me the clear to start jogging again at the beginning of May. My goal was to run a race that my cousin puts on called Friday Night…

week 6 - need advice!
Okay everyone, I need your wisdom... up until now I've been cruising along on the program. I haven't had to repeat anything. Yesterday I attempted w6d2 and utterly bombed it. Couldn't even finish the first 10 minutes. I chalked it up to a combo of too big a lunch and too much heat. Today I made sure to drink a lot of water…

Tendonitis and training
Hi all. I stopped running last year due to an injury - achilles tendonitis. I want to start running again. Do any of you have similar injuries and how have you adjusted your training?

C25k W7 and beyond: Transitioning to 25 - 30 min segments
Anyone have difficulty transitioning from 10 min to 25 min segments in w7? I have had little difficulty progressing through the prior 6.5 wks. I can finish the longer segments (>20 min) but they cause me to lose speed the longer I run until I am "running" significantly slower. My legs get to the point where there is no…

Running in Public
Does anyone else have issues with this? Thanks to the heatwave that's been sweeping through the country, it was too hot to run outside today. This has occurred before, so I run around the ground floor of my house and I run up and down the stairs to keep my heart rate up. I still sweat as much as I did on Tuesday (I'm on…

Ladies' Running Clothes
Hi all, I'm going into week 6 today and I've been getting frustrated with my shorts wanting to ride up into you-know-where. I do have a pair of Under Armor shorts to wear under my running shorts and that helps, more so that I don't feel the outside shorts riding up. I also have a pair of workout crop pants that work just…

failed first try at W5D3
This is a major head game for me apparently - I had to stop after the first 5 - even though I did 8s on Saturday with ease. Anyone have any hints/tricks/tips/suggestions? Have considered just skipping it and going on to week 6. Have also considered just redoing week 5 and running at it again.

Xtreme Running and Obstacle Challenges
I am so glad to read some of these stories and see all of the active people taking the initiative to seek out a fit lifestyle change. Our company here in Michigan runs the Xtreme Muck Ruck and loves to give special thanks to groups of individuals that help each other and provide the support backbone for others to push…

W1 D1 completed
Well, I am trying this program again. I did it a few months ago and then had a lot of family stuff come up, so I slacked off. Now I am back at it. I have already registered for 2 5ks so I have something to remain committed to it. One is at the end of Oct and the other is in Nov. I hope I'm ready! My question is: what are…

Cleared to start a bit of running...
After a year of zero impact aerobics due to injury, my PT cleared me to start adding some "therapeutic running" into my routine. So, 5 minutes a day, I am to job 30 sec/ walk 1 min, carefully practicing my new and improved running form. Once I've built up to 10 minutes a day, I get reevaluated and hopefully cleared to…

W6D1 was...
So much worse than W5d3! Not sure why, just was! I completed it, but just barely. My walk point was 5 ft in front of me when time ran out! Hopefully Day 2 is better!

Keeping Hydrated... best types of water carrying devices?
So I'm only on week two, a beginner for sure but I'm finding it hard to run without water. I hate carrying a waterbottle or anything for that matter when I am running and I am looking for some advice on what people have used and think is the best carrying device when running? I've heard conflicting things about the belts…

Week 6, Day 3
Hey everyone! Today I was very proud of myself...my husband just graduated from Basic Training and he's never seen me run more than two blocks and that had me winded and dying, so today he wanted to run with me and see my progress. It was week 6 day 3 and because I didn't want to bring my iPod and tune him out, we…

Hello!
I'm three days into MFP. I tried the C to 5K program 3 years ago (after having a baby) and only made it to week 5. Since my new baby was born 10 months ago I haven't been able to get out to exercise. I'm hoping being part of a community will help me to make time and get off my butt. I enjoyed running and am planning to do…

Dr visit today
Finally got to the Dr because of the breathing issue. Actually saw the nurse practitioner (oh how I adore the NPs- they actually SPEND TIME WITH YOU!!!), and the student nurse, so I had a GREAT visit. The student nurse happens to be a runner, so I really picked her brain, gave her my whole story about how long it's taken…

My legs hurt

Runners' High
S:happy today I completed week 6, the one where you run 25 minutes straight. I was so glad that I actually did it! I feel like I'm on top of the world. Anyone else feel like this after they accomplished the end of the intervals and the beginning of the longer runs? :glasses:

slow runners
I would appreciate encouragement from others who are starting out as slowly as I am and trying to get to a 5k. I am 48 years old and just started running again after about 15 tears away! I did the c25k program and I can now run for 35 minutes, which is great because I could barely run for 5 minutes when I started. But I am…

C25K W3 Distance
Hello! Hope everyone is enjoying the C25K still. I just wanted to know (out of interest really) what sort of distances people were going on W3? I make sure I do 30mins regardless so I will power walk if I have some time to kill until cool down. But I don't seem to be clocking up much distance really considering where I…
