Started my C25k today
Didn't go to bad. accomplished it easily. The iphone app I chose is kind of lame though. The one from Zen Labs is just a glorified timer. It doesn't work if you lock the screen. If you don't lock the screen, then it is easy to accidentally bring up the settings which pauses the program. Basically have to run holding the…

First 5k
I did it this morning! 35.11, my best time yet! I started C25k on August 13th and was never a runner! If I can do it anyone can!

So bummed :(
Today was suppose to be W5D2 but last night I noticed my calf looked a bit swollen but thought nothing of it, but today I've had to elevate it. I never thought I'd be sad missing a run day, I'm tempted to do it anyway but I know that'll just backfire on me down the road. Anyone have good recommendations to help quickly…

Stress Fracture
I'm so pissed. And disappointed. Instead of starting Week 4, I now have to wear an ugly boot and am on crutches for four weeks. I have a stress fracture in my 2nd and 3rd metatarsals in my right foot. I can't believe I blew it. I was so proud of my progress and now I'm out of commission. I wanted to run my first 5k in…

5K Advice/Question
Hi! My husband and I started doing C25k last week, for me it's my second time starting but with a "buddy" to run with I know I can stick with it. My husband was a track & field guy in HS (which, admittedly was quite some time ago...) but he has experience with running and I really don't. My problem though is that I really…

Week 8
Did Day 1 this morning, 28 minutes :noway: , without dying... Did have to take a quick potty break midway, does that still count?? :embarassed: I hadn't been out since Tuesday, so having some extra days in between probably wasn't helping, but it wasn't too bad. I don't know my real pace because mapmyfitness keeps acting up…

Weight Lifting
I want to start lifting weights next week, but I do not have access to a gym at this time. Can anyone suggest websites or their routine plan for a beginner. Also what size weights would you suggest? I own a pair of 3 and 5 lb weights.

Too Soon?
I will be finishing c25k on 10/19.. and am strongly contemplating entering a 5k on the 27th. It's cross country and seems to be set in an apple orchard. Am I cutting it too close to the end of the c25k program to already doing a 5k? Yeah I'll be able to run one on pavement, but is cross country much different? Maybe I…

W1D1
So I've always been the fat one in the family (I have 4 sisters), the fat one in my group of friends, and the fat one in my head. I've got excuses a plenty starting with my collapsed arches in my feet, crappy ankles, which result in poor knees and hips, scoliosis, and general dislike of "Hard" exercise. Really, anything…

Hip Pain
Hiya, This is the weirdest thing. Since I started the program about a month ago, I've had pain at the top of my left hip. Not in the joint, but on the outer edge of the hip bone itself. It feels like I bruised my hip bone, but I know I haven't. Has anyone else had this sort of pain? The pain's not bad enough to make me not…

Week 7 Done....3.2 Miles!
I just finished week 7! I am running my 5K on Saturday so Monday and today I decided to run the distance of the 5K just to be sure I could do it and guess what???? I did! Monday in 40 minutes and today in 37. LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!! Anyone else go off the schedule and go farther than the prescribed distances?

Ran my 5K today...and so disappointed.
This is mostly just me venting. I have come to really love going out and running thanks to the C25K program; I realize not every run is going to be a good one and some are just going to not go well, but did I have to pick the day of my actual race to have a bad run? Today I ran my second 5K and it was Week 9 Day 2. My…

Done with week 7!
...(and am scared to take a peek at what week 8 has in store)... :embarassed: Oh, and I haven't died yet. I'm still slow as mollasses, but it's still technically a jog. Guess I'll work on speed later?? :ohwell:

I have just started and I feel like dying!
Hi everyone I never in my life thought I would decide to start running. I always thought running was for crazy athlectic for people, not someone like me. Last week I was just feeling so miserable, tired of being fat and unfit. So I signed up to MFP and concidentally, I met up with a friend for lunch. She is a runner and…

5K times
On October 20, I'm running my very first 5K. I have realistic expectations and goals - Run the entire course without having to walk and keep a steady pace while breathing (vs. panting). What is a good goal to run a 5K? I'm hoping 30 minutes, about a 10 minute pace. Is that realistic? What were your times like? Mind you,…

Finally complete!
I feel a little pathetic because I started C25K (for the umpteenth time) in April. Ups and downs and travels through the summer didn't derail me, and I ran my last 30 minute run today! Still not at 5k. This is the first time I've used a phone app and it's awesome. I had it set to "timed" mode and I think I'm going to re-do…

Calf strain

The Next Step - Early
Hi all I'm meant to be starting week 6 this week, but have already completed two 5K's - Sat 15th Sept 35:13, Sat 22nd Sept 31.59. I've also completed a couple of longer runs around 4.5 miles at a slow pace. Big Question do I complete the C25K programme or move on? I've decided to skip the rest of the C25K & move onto the…

Severe disappointment in my workouts
(here is the obligatory whining about how tough I have it... skip this paragraph unless you have a nice piece of cheese to go with my whine). I used to be able to run... About 160+ pounds ago and 20+ years ago. I am losing weight using MFP - but I don't just want to lose weight, I want to be able to do the things that I…

My First Day of C25k
I wrote about it in my blog... (If anyone is interested: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/AmandaTWaH ) I did my first day today and it was pretty awesome but also a little disappointing. The first 60 second run went by so fast! But after that I was so tired and the balls of my feet were aching. I had to stop 2/3 of the way…

Week 1 Day 2
I did it and I am extremely proud of myself :) Bring on the next run!

Week 7 Day 1
A great run this morning, I did the full 25 minutes but only logged 2.32 miles. What am I saying???! I RAN 2.32 MILES! On August 13 I could barely run 60 seconds! Next Saturday is a 5k, will I be ready?

Week 5, Day 3: I DID IT!!!

Arch Pain Question, and Surface question?
I am working still on Week 1. I was almost done, and I have developed arch pain in my left foot. So instead of finishing week 2, I continue to get behind. I bought a pair of runners when I started from a Running store. She watched my gait, etc. So I can't believe it would be the shoes. I even went and bought Arch supports…

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group.
I'm 33 years old, trying to lose another 80 pounds or so and tomorrow I will be doing the second run of week 6 which is to run 10 mins, walk 3 and then run another 10. My biggest accomplishment so far was running for 20 minutes straight last week. I didn't think I could do it but amazingly I made it. After this week it's…
