Lifting programme for newbie?
I've recently invested in a 50kg barbell for home use and was wondering if anyone could advise a good programme for an absolute beginner? I've used handheld weights at home before, but nothing like proper "lifting". Thanks in advance! x

New & Confused
Does the calculator automatically cut the 15% for me? So, the calories of 1565 on the Calculator is what I should be consuming daily? Also, eating the 1565 amount of calories and doing the macros? Thanks

Step 1: Admit you need a change
Hi, I posted in the introduction area too, but thought I might actually stick with this long enough to warrant a longer thread. Lol I'm 36 yrs old, 5'3, and 145 now. I was 178 at my highest I'm 2014, lost 30lbs by restricting in 6 months, and even got down to 131 last year. Since then, it's been a balancing act between 3…

EM2WL and Nursing - Newbie -
I love the whole concept of EM2WL and being able to eat more food and still lose weight. I am a big believer that the more active you are, the more you should eat to fuel your body. Here's my background - When I started on MFP (almost 600 days ago), I was at around 1500 calories and following CICO. I cycled my calories…

What should I ask for to find a personal trainer that "gets" EM2WL? From a skinny fat fitness gal
Thank you all who welcomed me! I am seriously wanting to be successful with the "eating more" philosophy, as my TDEE without exercise is only about 1400. I really want to increase that, as it is not a lot of food. As you all probably saw from earlier posts, I have been a fitness fanatic for 20+ years and really only have…

Took a break now I'm back..............can I *really* do this or is this just how it is with aging?
Hi, everyone - I was on the board about a year ago contemplating whether or not I could employ some of the eat more strategies, if I had a thyroid issue, or was just getting older and had to deal with it. I will give a little summary below and hope that some of you can chime in as to whether or not I really have a shot at…

Snack and Meal Ideas for Traveling
Hi all! I have a few small weekend trips coming up this month. What are your favorite higher protein snacks/meals while on the road? Also, I will be doing a 7 hour guided fishing trip. What are some foods that would be okay cold/outdoors without regulating temps? I won't have access to a restroom on the boat, so I'm going…

Eating Before & After Working Out
I am unclear on what to eat before and after I workout. Usually it seems I eat 30-45 mins before I workout. Usually it is not a meal, but a snack. Should I be eating foods more rich in protein or carbs?

TDEE & BMR: What they are and what to do with them
TDEE - What is it and why you should not eat below your BMR What is BMR? Your basal metabolic rate, or BMR, is the minimum calorific requirement needed to sustain life in a resting individual. It can be looked at as being the amount of energy (measured in calories) expended by the body to remain in bed all day! What is…

Introducing Myself!
So, I've been on and off of this site for years, losing and gaining the same pounds. I turned 40 last October and swore up and down that I would not be overweight on my 40th but unfortunately I was. So, I've vowed to make the change and did some real good research on this site which has led me to this group. I want to lose…

OK. So I finally found you.
OH MY GOD. THIS. SO MUCH THIS. (I apologize ahead of time for this long post.. I needed to get this all out) I've been feeling all the things written over and over by people in this group. I've thought I was alone in this struggle I've been dealing with. At times it makes me feel hopeless and I alternate between feeling…

I don't want to kill myself with exercise.
Hello, everyone. I'd like pointers on losing weight without hours of cardio and heavy lifting. I have gained and lost the same five pounds. I find strenuous exercise regimens hard to stick to as well as strict eating. I know that I have to commit to something in order to get results but I'm having a tough time. I think I'd…

My Accountabiliy Thread
I started this process about 5 weeks ago. Starting weight 172.8 Current after 5 weeks is 180.8lbs. My calorie goal when I started was 1800. My first week I upped to 1950 then steady a 100 calorie increase to where I am now at 2400. My TDEE is ( so I think) 2700 so I have to reach 2700 first before I do anything else. Ill…

Do I need a reset
Hi everyone. Came across this em2wl way about a year ago but only really following it a month or so. My story is I had ds2 2.5 years ago and did slimming world and breastfeeding as my exercise :-). I lost ~50 lbs and was delighted but I think I was skinny fat as I was still flabby and had lost my strong legs. But was…

Newbie with a ton of questions.....
So I'm 4 weeks into the reset calorie increase. I was advised that I needed to back down on the cardio but not eliminate something that I truly enjoy which I do. I was the cardio queen doing 1.5-2 hrs daily plus lifting. So toning things down I do 4hrs lifting a week w 2.5 hrs cardio a week which lead me to a tdee of 2700…

As before, if you want to read my journey from the beginning, the links are at the bottom of this post! So I hit this really weird spot where my activity level has just changed drastically in the last two weeks. I am not in nursing school for the summer, which reduces my daily burn but quite a bit because that also means I…

Stuck and gaining weight
I started this group right before I went on vacation and stuck to it as much as I could. After 12 days on vacation, I resumed my eating plan and began working out again. I need to lose 30-40lbs and I'm feeling as if nothing is working for me. I'm wondering if I need to get on a specific meal and workout plan. I'm so…
