I think i get it now
Okay so tell me if what I'm saying is correct the reason why the number on the scale isn't important cause you and another person can be same height , age and weight but the main factor will be the body fat percentage. i brought the new rules book I'm going to read it today thats my main agenda.

bmi
Hi i got questions so i hope your ready to give me answers lol. If bodyfat percentage is the main factor instead of scale weight then why do doctors say based upon the bmi chart your over weight if bodyfat percentage isn't taken in consideration.

Lost
Can someone please help me understand how this all works? I keep reading, but I'm just confused. I work out 6 days a week usually for 30-40 minutes. When I joined MFP it told me to stick to 1200 calories, so that is what I've done. I have lost weight, but now that has stopped. With the weight loss I have become more…

Does this work for obese?
Starting to doubt my calorie goal....keep wanting to lower it. Losing very slowly, like .5lbs/week! I'm 215lbs 5'8" and do 3-4 days of cardio 25-50 min! I see so many people losing so much faster and I am getting discouraged. Calories are set for 1700/day but a few days a week it's about 1900.

Hi I have been a member on mfp since the end of january and I have lost 40 lbs on a 1200 calorie a day diet. At first the 1200 calories was hard but I adjusted rather quickly but now I am feeling the effects of eating to little such as my hair is thinning, im tired alot, and my energy levels has gone down, and ect. Met with a nutritionist
She used a special scale to check out my body fat % and gave me some numbers that were slightly different from what I have calculated. My BMR, according to her, is actually higher than what I calculated (she said it was around 1887), but my TDEE is lower. With a TDEE around 2600, she suggests that I eat (not net, but…

So Tell Me About These "Newbie Gains"...
Strength training. Do the newbie gains just up and vanish? Is bulking the only way to go, or could someone consistently weight train forever if they don't want an enormous amount of muscle but still want to look "toned"? Hit me with anything and everything you know about these mysterious newbie gains and how to…

BMF synching with MFP
I was ecstatic to learn that BMF will now synch with MFP. I set up the apps and my calories did show up on BMF and my total calories burned from BMF did show up on my homepage on MFP. Two questions though. 1. Currently I have my meals on MFP set up as breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, after dinner…

Going over TDEE Day 1 - Workout extra on Day 2?
Let's say on a typical day, you do an hour-long work out and eat at your TDEE deficit in order to properly fuel and provide nutrients to your muscles and keep your metabolism working efficiently (while still losing BF). I know it's not so black and white, but generally I tend to eat a lot of good carbs and pay extra…

How to tell if you have surpressed your metabolism?
Just really curious. I am 99% positive mine is all sorts of messed up. (my own fault) What does one do to compensate for that? I maintain at around 1500 cals though calculators say I should be at around 1800-1900. :/ Is it also permanent?

I need some advice, some tips, and some idea on how to get this started. I will be going food shopping this weekend and need to get an idea of what foods I should be eating and which to avoid. I am a vegetarian, but eat fish. So I need to be getting my 35% protein from other foods. If everyone that visits this topic can…

Ladies eating 2200k plus?
I upped my cals from 1800 to 2000 a month or so ago as felt I was losing too fast and have last week just upped it again to 2500 as was still feeling hungry and not enough energy, I am looking for friends of any ladies who eat a similar amount, just for meal ideas and so I don't feel so bad eating so much (and some days…

Talk me in from the ledge
I had been eating erratic for months now. High calorie, low calorie all over the place. This was after a year of having trouble losing on weight watchers which worked perfectly for me before having my daughter 2 years ago. So I figured out my TDEE and BMR last week and started eating 1500 calories a day(15% cut off of my…

Plateaued for a year now.. possibly the contraceptive pill?
I have been gaining and losing the same 5lbs for a year now and it is starting to get very frustrating. I am also not losing body fat - I bounce between 20-22% and cannot get below it. I am 5'3, 134lbs (healthy weight) but I cannot for the life of me get under 130lbs or 20% body fat. I have tried eating at TDEE, eating at…

Lifting/ DOMS question
I've been lifting heavy for about a year. I did slack off over the summer because we were traveling a lot and I just couldn't really get it done. But I've been back at it 3 times a week since beginning of Sept. When I first started lifting, I had serious DOMS, which I didn't really mind because it made me feel like it was…

Eating LARGE quantities in a short amount of time?
Meal time is irrelevant. I am a night eater so I'm not worried about the eat past seven myth or anything. Though, in a short amount of time I do find myself eating obscene quantities. Is that harmful in anyway?

Being on EM2WL and having PCOS
Hello All! I am quite new to the group and looking forward to success on this new journey I have chosen to go on. Below is a bit of a…

Given my goals, how many calories should I be consuming?
I posted this in the general board, but realized that you folks might have more insight. I'm 5'2", 110 pounds and have 22% body fat, according to the U.S. Navy scale (which apparently can be 1-3% off). Essentially, I've been focused on losing pounds, but have realized it would make much more sense to focus on losing inches…
