  • My husband and I like pizza biscuits. Take a biscuit (last time we used Grands Flaky but we've used other kinds), roll it out to make it thinner/larger and add toppings. I like to make BBQ chicken or veggie, DH likes pepperoni. Then bake in the oven around 350 degrees - can't remember how long, so keep an eye the first…
  • Listen to your body and rest. And as for the PB & J and GingerAle - it could be worse! If you can get down some chicken noodle soup or something too, that would be good, but when you're sick, just give your body what it needs (rest). If you don't - it could take longer to recover.
  • Lazy Lasagna Yields 9 servings Ingredients 1 pound ground round ( I would substitute ground turkey) 1 (26-ounce) jar low-fat spaghetti sauce 1 (16-ounce) carton fat-free cottage cheese 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese Cooking spray 1 (8-ounce) package precooked lasagna noodles 1 cup (4 ounces) preshredded reduced-fat…
  • I'm like Brenda - not good at "moderation" - I usually eat way more than I wanted to if I eat any. Saying no has gotten easier over time. I have a desk job too and I got a Stride Cycle XL for under my desk. It doesn't do a whole lot but it does keep my legs moving and my joints from getting too stiff (I have rheumatoid…
  • Mellie - Thank you SO much for posting this! I used to drink Crystal Light, but have since cut all artificial sweetners out of my diet and once in awhile I miss the flavor of Crystal Light, so this will be great! For those interested, I found this article:…
  • My doctor has told me that they will have to monitor my thyroid closely because if your thyroid is off during pregnancy it can be a real problem. With the RA, they say that for most it actually goes away or gets better during pregnancy - yah! But I'm told after the baby is born and your hormones are back to normal,…
  • Thanks Serendipity! And I feel your pain with the running thing! I ran cross country in high school and 3 miles is no small feat (I don't think I could do it now :noway: ). Keep on plugging away and don't get discouraged. Just think that every time you run, no matter how long or how far, you're taking a positive step…
  • Dawn - do you mind sharing the recipe for "garlic and herb cheese (laughing cow), spinach and crimini stuffed chicken"? It sounds delish!
  • Mind if I join? My husband and I want to start TTC around June of this year. My goal is to be as healthy as possible before that happens. I'm not really looking to lose a whole lot, the scale doesn't matter as much as how I feel/look. I've started taking folic acid (in additional to a multi, fish oil and calcium) and plan…
  • I'm in too! I'm 5'2" and struggling with my last 10 pounds. I have a silly question: what is considered strength training? I have been doing exclusively cardio on an elliptical but wanted to step it up for the last 10 pounds so last night I did I 20 minute workout that used two different size dumbells for upper and lower…
  • Thanks for posting this! I saw it in Hungry Girl as well but was skeptical. I'm definitely going to have to try them. Thanks for letting us know where/what section to find them in too!
  • You might try a recumbent exercise bike to take pressure off your back.
  • Happy Friday everyone! WE CAN DO THIS!
  • It really depends on your weight and how hard you exercise. I have an elliptical at home that gives me calories burned but it isn't completely accurate because I don't put in my weight. But I estimate that they use 150-170 as the weight on the machine and adjust accordingly. I estimate I burn between 120 & 170 calories per…
  • Diet Coke has fake sugar in it which isn't very good for you and also causes sweets cravings. I used to be a Diet Coke drinker (had one/day with lunch) and I also had really bad sweets cravings in the afternoons. After I stopped, I felt a lot better and the sweets cravings went away. There was a period of adjustment,…
  • I know - it's so frustrating! I went to eat some almonds the other day and the serving size was 1oz. I had no idea how much that was so I was looking for my food scale (we had recently re-finished our cabinets and things got re-arranged) and my husband kept calling me a "nut job" from the other room saying that I was…
  • Thanks to everyone for the kind posts! The profile picture is from June and I was probably about 5-10 pounds lighter than I am now. I think I'm finally over the comment (or at least I'm not thinking about it). She is actually a very sweet lady, but sometimes a little ummm...ditsy and I really don't think she meant anything…
  • Thank you guys for your kind words. It felt so much better just writing it down and I was able to get working on my presentation. Jenna - you're so funny! I think I may use that at the beginning of my presentation (especially seeing as how almost everyone in my office heard me on the phone with her so they know)!…
  • Heidi - wow, 2 classes in one day? I'm impressed! :drinker: Sounds like they are fun ones too. I'm just happy if I can get in 30 minutes on the elliptical most days! My hat is off to you :flowerforyou:
  • Checking in again and I'm proud to report that I DID get up this morning and squeeze in a 1/2 hour workout on my elliptical! I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's an accomplishment for me to get out of bed (especially with DH still sleeping) and not use my early meeting as an excuse. I'm doing good on…
  • I'd like to join too and be more accountable. Today was a good and bad day for me. Working out: I was lazy this morning and didn't get up to workout like I should have :ohwell: BUT I have a bicycling thing under my desk at work and made sure I did that quite a bit today (over 2 hours total) - it's not much of a workout,…
  • If you don't like cooking meat, you can pick up one of those rotisserie chickens from the grocery store - they're really good in chicken enchiladas and add a lot of flavor.
  • I've used this idea before (taking out 1 C servings to see how many there were for the # of servings). Any thoughts about how to do that with spaghetti? It just doesn't stay in the cup so it's hard to measure, but I went to the trouble of calculating the exact calories for the recipe, so I'd like to properly measure the…
  • My husband is not a veggie eater either. When I make pasta dishes (or anything with marinara sauce), I steam up a bag of mixed vegetables, put them in our chopper and blend them to a pulp then add them to the sauce. I also sautee some onions and mushrooms and put them in (just chopped, not blended).
  • Edamame with sea salt. I buy the individual frozen packs at Costco and bring them to work. When I get hungry in the afternoon, I pop one in the microwave and it keeps me full for a few hours (99 calories).
  • It's true. I used to drink diet Pepsi everyday at lunch and I was always craving sweets in the afternoon. After hearing that diet soda could cause sweets cravings, I stopped drinking it (about 3 weeks ago). Since then, I don't have the cravings in the afternoon anymore and it has been SO much easier to stick to a healthier…
  • Do you by any chance drink diet soda with lunch? I used to have a Diet Coke or Pepsi every day at lunch and I was ALWAYS wanting something sweet/bad for me in the afternoons. I decided to cut out the diet soda about 3 - 4 weeks ago after reading a book called "Ultra Prevention" and since then my sweets cravings in the…
  • I'm with you! Sweets are my weakness! Hang in there - you can do this! As far as cooking, I once burned one of those "just put it in the skillet" dinners and then (this is way worse) got distracted and didn't rinse one of the bowls after washing it so my husband got burned soapy dinner. He took a few bites before…

We've whipped up a whole new FREEZE-TASTIC margarita recipe just for you, so we hope you're ready to party. Humans, start your blenders... Ingredients: 3/4 cup Sprite…
  • I made Pumpkin muffins/cupcakes for a baby shower and they were a hit! 1 15 oz can pure pumpkin 1 box spice cake mix Whipped Cream Cheese frosting Just mix the pumpkin & cake mix together and bake (do not add the other ingredients the box calls for). Then frost with the Cream Cheese frosting (about 2 tsp or 1/2 tbsp). When…
