  • my guess is that you're moving slower while in the gym than when following chalene in the video. i feel that i actually move faster and without as good form when i do the moves without the video, but you may be getting a better workout in your situation! keep up the good work!
  • I know this post is old, but I have pretty much the same stats as you (5'9", 137ish lbs) and I'm trying to build muscle and shed fat. I've been eating at a small deficit for a while (about 1700) but I am now increasing my calories to 2000 to see if that helps me see additional progress. I love lifting but lift at home with…
  • I love Jillian, but I don't agree with 1200 calories as a blanket caloric intake for everyone, either. I think this program is designed for maximum weight loss and in that case, 1200 may be appropriate, but it isn't for everyone. I am trying to maintain muscle while losing body fat, so I'm eating way above 1200. I suggest…
  • i am doing the lean schedule and am on week 4 of bulk. i was eating 40% carbs/ 30% protein/30% fat before this and i upped my macros to 50%carb/25%protein/25% fat. i am never over on carbs now, which is awesome...but i'm always over on fat. i've lost body fat and my muscles are bigger...but not as big as i thought they'd…
  • yeah, she explains this better in her book Mastering Your Metabolism and it has to do with the effect of the foods on your thyroid hormones. I have the book at home so I can look it up later, but when I was doing Body Revolution I just ignored that advice because I don't have thyroid issues.
  • i am so happy i did this, too. it seems that jillian michaels's body revolution makes a lot of people grouchy, haha. I did the program and LOVED it but she recommends a 1200 calorie nutrition plan for 90 DAYS. Let me tell you, I WAS MISERABLE. I did it for one month, then bumped up to 1500. Now, almost 10 months later, I'm…
  • I did not use shakeology and I was successful. I didn't lose much in terms of fat, but I'm at a point where I am trying to build muscle and replace fat with lean body mass. I just made sure to eat some protein and carbs to fuel my workout then had a protein shake after working out.
  • I am on my second round of CLX and I have trouble with my lower back hurting during deadlift rows. I actually recorded myself doing the exercise to check out my form and I've figured out that my back is flat, but I'm not pulling my abs in. Chalene does say something about your abs being your girdle in some of the workouts…
  • these are my favorite, too!
  • 5'9" CW: 133 trying to build muscle and lower body fat % trying to eat cleaner
  • I used the most weight in Push, but I'm on my 2nd week of Lean and my weights are 8lbs on some of the exercises. My delts are weak!
  • I don't know how far you are from your goal weight, but I don't really have a goal weight, I was just wanting to lose body fat and feel fitter. I started on 1200 calories and it sucked, so I ate 1900 calories (total; my net was around 1550) for the entire program. I didn't lose much weight, but I feel awesome - both…
  • I feel like she cheated us with this, btw. I wish she would have made one last week of really tough moves so we could REALLY be challenged, then be DONE.
  • Ok.. good to hear! I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right by lifting heavy to failure regardless of feeing sore or not. you guys are great!
  • ha. not for me. i did them on my knees the entire three weeks. i tried multiple times to do them on my toes and my arms just would not un-lock... they knew i'd hit the ground ha ha
  • i'm 5'9" and about 135 lbs. i'm trying to lose body fat. i eat 1810 cals and do not eat back exercise cals. i just started week 2 of burn phase today... we'll see!
  • i did it for three weeks and i was super bored. i only did it so i could say for sure that i did the entire 90 days :)
  • i dont consider myself to be overly strong and i just started chalean extreme. i originally bought 25 lb adjustable dumbells but was doing squats with 25 weights on the first day. i suggest 0-50 lb adjustable dumbbells and i think you really need heavy weights for the program to be effective. there are two rest days per…
  • i just bought weider adjustable weights to do chalean extreme. i got them on sale at sears for $71 after tax for 25 lb, so $142 for the set. much more affordable than selecttechs and those are HUGE. i am starting tomorrow! i was afraid with all my summer plans, i would stress out over missing workouts, but chalean extreme…
  • i would hold for as long as you can. if you can't even do it at all, then i'd keep my shoulders on the ground but lift my legs. challenge yourself to hold it as long as you can, then take a break, and repeat. you WILL get better and stronger!!!
  • I finished the program today! I did the program as directed except I didn't follow the meal plan. I ate 1200 calories for one month, then slowly increased to 1800 for the remainder of the program because I was grouchy and hungry ALL THE TIME. My stats are: Before: 143 lbs 22.1% body fat thigh: 54 cm hips: 92 waist: 76…
  • after i get into wheel, i scoot my hands in closer towards my butt. i know that probably doesn't make sense, but i put them by my ears then push up to get into wheel, then move them even closer to my shoulders instead of away from my shoulders. that makes the push ups easier.
  • i am on my last week of body revolution and i've been seeing that part at the end for 2 1/2 weeks. i wish she'd put in on a final disc or something, or at least in a different chapter or with a break because i want to be congratulated when i'm DONE not when i have 3 weeks of workout 12 left! congratulations to you…
  • I've done the cardio video every time it's called for in the schedule and I'll admit, I get bored of them all by the 3rd week. I start my FINAL week on monday and I'm dreading it as I've already done workout 11 and 12 for two weeks.
  • thanks guys! i don't really seem to have a gain on high sodium days but i think my diet is a little too high in sodium in general... that is solely based on the daily recommended amount though. i haven't had any real trouble with high sodium or high blood pressure, etc... i'm just curious. i'm gonna try to cut out the…

  • I've lost my boobs too :( and it's great when your husband notices. They don't notice if you dye your hair, but when you lose weight and they compliment you on it... man, does that feel good! We are all doing so well!!!
  • I was going to do Chalean extreme but then I realized how much traveling I want to do this summer and it would be difficult to take my dumbbells with me. I get obsessed when I miss workouts and it makes me mentally feel junky, so I think I'm gonna do Ripped in 30 and continue eating like I have during BR. I did RI30 before…
  • i also followed the 1200 calorie plan (substituting my own meals but staying under that amount of calories) for one month and it was not fun. i was starving and obsessing over food. i've upped my calories all the way to me tdee - 20% at this point (which is about 1900 and i net around 1650 a day)... there are some people…
  • i use body fortress super advanced from walmart. i've tried vanilla, chocolate, and cookies n creme. they are all ok but they do have that protein grittiness that i don't like. i mix a scoop of powder in with a container of oikos plain greek yogurt and add some cinnamon. i'm not much on drinking just protein powder + water…
