If it fits into your lifestyle consider getting a dog, pig, or other animal you can play with and/or take for walks. Cats could work too, though you'll need to think of indoor ways to exercise with them in most cases. I consider walking my dogs a necessary chore that I just *happen* to enjoy and which gets both of us the…

My Flipbelt! Not only does it have a built in clip for my house key (no more squishing it into the side of my bra), it's also a perfect fit for my iPhone 5 in its case. I can't imagine how I survived running without it. Second are my Nike 5.0 lightweight shoes. Next on my list are bluetooth headphones :)

I do this all the time, but it usually leads to eating! I find that after fixating on counting calories, exercising, etc. for so long food becomes an obsession. I have tried various "distractions" to keep my mind occupied but there seems ti be no quick fix. Sorry I can't offer actual advice!

I'm currently 123lbs and working not so much to lose (though I do hope to shed 2-3 more pounds and hit 120) as to "reconfigure" my body. My calories are set at 1,400 (sedentary) although I adjust on days that I do find time to exercise, whether cardio or strength training. I'm losing about .25-.5lbs per week this way.…

I can definitely relate to this.. all of it! Trail mix and granola (the Aurora variety they sell in my local supermarket is the BEST! Er, worst..), peanut butter, cereals, basically anything sweet and/or carb-y gets me rolling on an awful endless snackfest.

I use my previous successes to motivate me. Once I lost 5 pounds, I knew that losing even more was possible. Every day I just look at myself naked in front of the mirror and feel proud of how far I've come while also being conscious of how far I have to go. Right now I am actually at my goal weight and am just focusing on…

I have those days too! Even though I know it's impossible to really put on a ton of extra weight overnight there are times when I just feel as though I've gone up a whole size. I attribute most of this to water retention (happens most often after I indulge) and then the mental paranoia that comes with it. Unfortunately I…

I can understand how you feel. My fiance and I have been together for 3 years and have been going in opposite directions since we met! For him it's being happy and content for the first time in a while that has prompted his weight gain, while for me it was unhappiness at being above-average in size for my entire young life…

Remember, when you are increasing your calories you are usually consuming a higher volume (and weight) of food. This isn't the only explanation for gains when increasing intake, but it is a pretty common-sense idea: More food in your digestive tract at one time = a temporarily higher weight until your losses counteract…

Don't give up! I've lost close to 30lbs over the past yeah and a half, and I am so proud of myself for overcoming the same lack of willpower you have when I first started. Looking at my newly fit and toned body - I'm near my goal weight of 122 lbs and am just working on losing fat and gaining muscle at this point - is so…

Are you sure you entered your information correctly? The first tool had me at 26% BF, the second at 27.2%. I had never tried this kind of online measuring tool before - it definitely was worth breaking out the tape measure!

My problem as well (or was!). What was holding me back from sticking to my plan was a sense of deprivation. Eventually I came to the realization that cutting out many of my favorite foods for the sake of healthy eating was just not maintainable in the long run. Like you I would break down after a few days and indulge in…

Granola, donuts, caramel iced coffee, cookies, chocolate, ice cream, yogurt covered pretzels, baked pasta with cheese, penne vodka, cheesesteak, pizza, hot sandwiches/paninis, chunky tomato soups, ugh... the list goes on and on. I LOVE FOOD!

Try to get her to see this "plateau" of hers in a different way. She lost 10 pounds so far, and merely maintaining is far better than GAINING! After only 2 weeks, as others have pointed out, it is hard to get a clear picture of how long term weight loss will actually work for her. Explain that if she gives up now she will…

Yup. I find all the advice above helpful. I clean and tidy the apartment, spend quality time with my dogs, or go for walks when I get peckish for foods that I know I just want emotionally and not physically. Makes me feel even better when I can pat myself on the back and say that I resisted! Although if you absolutely…

I am the same way! Kind of in a 3 day slump right now; my online summer classes just finished up and I start the fall semester in 2 weeks so this is really my only true "vacation" at the moment. I'm not going CRAZY, but enough that I need to snap back to attention soon or I will be feeling pretty down on myself. For now I…

Yes! My biggest problems are breakfast carbs - cereal, granola, and DUNKIN' DONUTS! I will wake for work at 6:30 and immediately grab the cereal box in some kind of trance, and handfuls turn into cups.. Nuts and nut butters are also a weakness of mine. I agree with many previous posts in that I LOVE food and the comfort it…

From a success story: I started out just like you - frustrated (and hungry!) at 1,200 calories. What you need to understand is that right after you eat, say, an apple in the morning you will essentially weight [your weight] + [apple]. This is why people who weight multiple times in a day feel so frustrated! Of course the…

I actually think what you're saying is quite sensible and on point! I know that I fear social gatherings because the consensus is that it's okay to go overboard on food - we're all having quality time, yay! My family usually "socializes" around our kitchen counter with plates full of finger foods spanning from end to end.…

I'm in! I think what everyone considers a binge is very different.. for me it's not so much the calories but the out-of-control feeling I get when I eat, unable to stop myself from reaching for more.

I have had great results as far as firming skin/fading marks by using a Shea butter cream (specifically Bath & Body Works True Blue Spa "Lay It On Thick" intense moisturizer, about $15 for a 10oz tube). Of course I have also been doing more cardio lately and some of the toning up might be due to that. Good luck!

I might give this a try.. thanks!

I am in LOVE with the following ratio: -1/2 cup rolled oats (I use Quaker brand) -2/3 cup vanilla almond milk (I use Almond Breeze, sometimes sweetened, sometimes unsweetened, depending on what I mix in) -1/2 cup greek yogurt (I use fage 0% - I get the BEST thick and creamy consistency using this and it is one of the…

Try possibly cutting your food into smaller pieces and eating piece by piece. Counting to 10, 20, 30 or whatever number you like in your head as you chew can also prolong the eating experience and leave you feeling more satisfied! At least it works for me =)

OVER. NIGHT. OATS. There are so many different combinations of ingredients I use that I couldn't possibly list them all!

BUMP! No idea, but I wonder (and stress) over this too!

Even though doing tons of crunches won't slim you down, I find that consistently working my abdominal muscles (not just through standard crunches but oblique exercises and leg lifts to work the lower part of my abs) has really tightened up the area and given it some definition. Though my measurements haven't changed the…

I never like to feel limited to just one food item at each meal, so I find having several yummy things in moderation works for me and keeps me from feeling bored and/or restricted. Here is what I had today: 1/2c vegetable chips - 120 calories 1/2 Chunky Peanut Butter (1 tbsp) and Rhubarb jam (1/2 tbsp) sandwich on whole…

I know I'm starting late, but I need something other than my own (sometimes crumbling) motivation to help me shed these last few pounds! SW: 145 CW: 126 GW: 123 UG: 122 I will start my weigh-ins next week =)
