  • I just joined a gym in December and I can have one hour a month with a trainer - since I am a newbie and very out of shape, he gave me weight training program - mostly arms. I do that 2-3 times/week and also do 40-50 minutes on the treadmill. I have arthritis in my lower back, so I have to be careful. I meet again with a…
  • In the past I have been a yo yo dieter & would give away clothes only to gain it back and have to buy more clothes, so I have kept them. My plan is to put them in storage & get rid of them after a year, But I also keep the clothes that are too small. This time I am determined to lose the weight and keep it off for good.
  • I weigh in once a week, every Monday morning, usually same time & almost no clothes. That way I feel its pretty consistent. I am former weight watcher so I try to make sure the day or so before my weigh in I avoid salty and other foods that could cause my weight to fluctuate. I know I couldn't go a whole month to weigh -…
  • Are you eating a lot of fruit and vegetables? I haven't done weight watchers in awhile, but I know they used to be zero points because of the nutritional value. If you eat a lot of them, that could also add up, but as my leader used to say she never heard of anyone getting fat from eating too many vegetables.
  • I am following Dr Ian Smith's Shred Revolution diet right now and he has us eating 4 meals & 3 snacks a day. The snacks are 100 or 150 calories & meals vary 200-300 usually. It has worked - lost 14 pounds the first 3 weeks. Many weight loss plans have you eating every 3 or 4 hours to keep your metabolism going.
  • I think tracking everything I eat, made me more aware of how much I ate & also the calorie count of food out there. So many foods I thought was healthy turned out to be a diet killer. Also planning out what I am going to eat - esp if I am going out.
  • When you entered your figures into MFP, did you put in your exercise and how much you want to lose each week? I don't think you are eating enough - 1000 - 1100 calories a day do not seem to be enough with the exercise you are doing. You should be eating at least 1200 a day, i not your body could think you are trying to…

  • I am 5'11" - currently 242, not sure yet of my goal weight - probably around 175. I once got down to 145, but I looked skeletal. Always looking for friends - esp tall ones!
  • I cannot run at this time, too many health problems, so I walk, ride a stationary bike & do DVD workouts and eel they have been helpful, still have a long way to go, but I try to work at it hard enough to get my heart rate up.
  • My daughter graduates from high school on June 15th - would love to be at 199 or as close to it as possible. It's not my goal weight, but it just sounds so much better than being in the 200"s
  • I have started and stopped wight watchers too many times, for me it all depended on the leaders and those who attended your meetings. I had two great leaders and did well, but others times not so much. I found many times I would eat great during the day, but always saved points for junk food. That usually led to a slide…
  • I turned 51 in January & have a lot to lose - around 70 to go.
  • I live in South Jersey - right now we have rain, then supposed to get around 4 inches. My family wants the blizzard!
  • I am reading The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl - very good and inspirational in my weight loss journey
  • I have a pedometer that I have to wear for work - next year's health insurance premiums will be based partly on our activity level so I keep track of the time I am actually out walking as exercise, but I usually get 4-5000 steps a day just in my normal day. I am out 4 or 5 a day walking the dog and taking my daughter to…
  • Age: I just turned 51 Height 5'11" SW: 279 CW: 256 GW: 175 - I think,, but right now I just want to get to 199, get out of the 200 Always looking for new friends!
  • I used to process medical claims - knew someone who's name was Baby Girl - couldn't think of a name!. Also someone named their kids Brandy & Decanter. I named my daughter Noelle(and no she wasn't born at Christmas) as her grandmother was french. Slightly unusual, but not off the beaten track.
  • I am going to enjoy all the food, but in moderation, its one meal. I am making a couple of dishes that are lower in calories & a salad to help keep things in check. I will also take a long walk that day to help counter the extra food. Luckily I am going to my parents, so no leftovers.
  • 4 years ago I lost 99 pounds and over the next 3 years gained 79 of it back, so I know how you feel. I have since lost 30, but still have a long way to go. It's hard but you need to look forward and work on getting it off again, I understand about weight watchers, that is how I lost the 99, but when I went back, several…
  • It is difficult to lose weight if you are dating or involved with someone who does not share your outlook. My boyfriend lost some weight, but then stopped & at times he is supportive, but at times he is not & when he gets to that point it can be really hard to lose. You need to be upfront with him & see what he says.…
  • I finally realized that there was no easy way to lose & had to do it, was tired of being held back because of my weight. Plus hearing about Rosie O'Donnell, who is my age having a heart attack. That really hit home.
  • I OD'd on candy after Halloween, luckily have lost the taste for most of it, but have some candy corn left, so I save it for evening & can only have it if I have calories left. So far its working, my downfall it salty snacks, so I don't buy them & stick to popcorn. Self control is not my strong point!
  • I try to look at it as one meal, luckily we go to my parents so I don't have leftovers. In the past I try to eat lightly - eggs & whole wheat toast for breakfast, a salad or soup for lunch, get in some exercise & then eat dinner. At dinner I will bring a salad and then take a small portion of the foods I love, but not…
  • I agree, I would rather have the real thing
  • I have tried this diet, it was difficult for me because I am lactose intolerant and couldn't handle two servings of yogurt every day. I know by day 18 I was craving red meat! Good luck!
  • I know what you mean! I try to eat more salad, veggies, popcorn etc, but I also find if I eat something with a little fat in it, it helps to satisfy the hungries. So I might add some avocado or lean protein to my meal.
  • I weigh myself in the morning, I feel that is my true weight. When I was doing weight watchers, I would fast for 4 or 5 hours to try and get the best reading on the scale. But I do limit it to once a week - usually Saturday or Sunday.
  • I tend to buy protein in bulk when its on sale, then I freeze what I am not using in the next couple of days. Produce I end up buying every few days, getting most at a local farm. I try not to buy any junk food so I will not be tempted, though if I do, it has to be something that won't blow my diet if I eat more than I…
  • I have had McDonald's - a small fry is 230 calories, hamburger is 250, and it wasn't a cheat day. I made sure I logged what I ate and adjusted my other meals accordingly. I just noticed that they have the calories each food on the menu which helps. I wouldn't eat it everyday, but I do like it once in awhile. Last week I…
