  • weight loss is naturally going to slow down as your body finds ways to adjust to the new routine and new way of eating. the best way to combat this is to shock your body. change up your work out routine. instead of doing straight cardio for 30-45 mins try going hard as you can for 2-3 minutes and then rest for 2-3 mins and…
  • *Edit--- ^get out of my head haha once a week usually. however, stop focusing so much on the number and more on how you look and feel. If you've decided to incorporate weights there's a pretty good chance that a lot of lost fat weight is going to be made up by gains in muscle mass. muscle is denser and heavier so a little…
  • Getting more sleep or into more of a regular sleep pattern could definitely help as that's that peak time for your body to repair itself. The better repaired it is the better and more efficient it's going to run, sort of like a car. You may also want to consider not so much how often you eat, but more when you are eating.…
  • like anything involving getting into shape and losing weight if you want the best results its going to take time. to really get to a solid body fat % you need to put in the time and work to lose the fat and build some quality lean muscle. naturally the harder you work the faster the results, but you don't just want to try…
  • add new exercises and increase the weight you're using. As for calories, feel free to add more to what you're currently doing. Just remember where you're getting the calories is more important than the number of calories. As someone already said, lean proteins are your friend
  • chew gum or bring a toothbrush and toothpaste to work and brush your teeth if you get a craving. the minty flavor of the gum or toothpaste will make anything you eat taste like crap and i know i'm less likely to eat after I brush because i just cleaned my teeth...that would be a waste. sounds stupid, i know, but it works…
  • Ok, so her technique may not be "correct" but even correct technique can lead to injuries. Honestly I just find it funny that someone decides to criticize a person for how they teach kettle bells and their technique than has the balls to say "I myself don't know how to properly use kettle bells." That's like me saying i…
  • I've really gotten into making smoothies lately. Really easy to get a quick well balanced breakfast that way and you can really experiment. We have the magic bullet blender so i like to put all of my dry ingredients in the night before then in the morning i add in my milk and blend. My favorite is a banana, 2 tablespoons…
  • I'm bringing absolutely nothing to this convo with this post but i just have to say that your profile picture... AWESOME! haha
  • "WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO WITH ALL THIS FRUIT!?!?!" Ohhhh Everybody Loves Raymond... how you make me laugh. sorry I had to.
  • i've used two proteins pretty regularly. I used to use the EAS Whey protein. That was early on before I really got into working out like I am now. It tasted ok but the main selling point for me was price, like $15 dollars for a giant jug at target. Then after coming on here and reading i switched to BSN Syntha-6. its a lot…
  • this was another big one. i used to just rush and throw my lunch together in the morning before work. now i take the time each night to plan out my lunch and snack and pack it all up. i found that i'm making a lot better decisions and as stupid as it sounds, i'm able to strategize what i'm going to eat, when i'm going to…
  • portion sizes for sure. I usually used to help myself to second helpings that were usually just as big as my first helping. Also since realizng just how unhealthy restaurant food can be i've made an effort to always try and eat half and take the rest home or put it away in the fridge. I've managed to take my favorite meal…
  • That makes sense too. Honestly everyone's body is different so it wouldn't surprise me if both ways of going about it work. In the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't matter just so long as your going to the gym and giving 100% and not half assing it.
  • a good rule of thumb is to try and make sure you eat something 2 hours or less before a workout. It'll make your body burn the energy from the snack and then shift into fat buring mode. Not eating beforehand will cause your body to break down muscle and save your fat reserves, making your work out not as effective. At…
  • Seems like you already have this part down but make sure to stretch before and after and even again later in the day. it'll help you feel a lot better and be better for you in the end. Also, make sure you get hydrated adequately afterwards. Lots of water! Maybe a protein shake to help you recover. I've also been hearing…
  • buy a pair of compression shorts. i know for me it helps keep the insides of my legs from rubbing together. Even when I don't wear them it's not a huge issue until a few hours later when my skin starts screaming at me. Also don't expect too much from yourself. A lot of people figure that running is running, but running…
  • I know i'm not the only person that's goning to say this, but invest in a heart rate monitor that tracks calories burned. It's the only way to really get a truly accurate idea of how much your burning.
  • thanks, i'll be sure to take a look at those later. Curse you work website blockers!!!
  • I've been trying for the longest time to get my girlfriend to get into lifting weights. I've tried to convey to her the benefits but she doesn't seem to listen. In addition she believes in that preconceived notion that if she lifts heavy weights she'll get bulky, which i've told her repeatedly isn't true. Too top it all…
  • well played:laugh:
  • my work supposedly tracks our internet usage and they sure as hell block almost anything and everything. how i'm able to get on here is beyond me. you could be ok.
  • it's just so frustrating. i'm very much a creature of habit and for the past couple of weeks i feel like i've been stuck in a whirl wind. i just need to refocus and like you all said, take that first step again.
  • 5 grams of protein here and there throughout the day wont cause any type of excessive weight gain. you'll be fine haha
  • just be patient. that last few pounds always tends to be the hardest to get for everyone, not just you.
  • ya, but you can see inches... a number not so much. unless your standing on a scale or have a giant neon sign floating above your head with your weight on it.
  • investing in a heart monitor is the best idea. itll track the calories you burn based on your heart rate so its a lot more accurate. plus you can track your calories doing things that don't have built in calorie counters. i like using mine at home when im just doing a quick routine of crunches and push ups.
  • not to get into too much detail, but plain old fashioned cheerios seem to work wonders for me. by far the most effieicnt thing i eat to keep it "regular". has anyone else had this experience?
  • i've said it a million times on this site so far and i'll say it another million i'm sure haha the real issue with sugars is where its coming from. if its natural sugars found in fruits, vegetables, milk, etc your fine so long as your not eating 30 koranges in one sitting. it's the refined and processed sugars we find in…
  • i mean really all i can say is to just grin and bear it. your goal is within reach. once its done then you can have your own little pig out party. itll be worth it.
