  • Just joined this group. I’ve been doing clean IF for a week now and have been able to do 16:8-20:4. I like this group for women my age (turning 60 in May) because our hormones and bodies don’t work like those of the younger ladies. Hoping I have some new numbers to show my doctor in April. (He’s a proponent of less…
  • Wow! These posts also help me to know I am not alone in my struggle. I look at the weight I have gained even though I am exercising and I get so frustrated that I just down that cookie or donut or whatever else is around - and believe me, I KNOW what is around and where it is hidden. :-/ Today was one of those days so I…
  • I read that blog a while ago. Time to re-visit it! Thanks!
  • Same boat here. I am up 20 lbs from my adult low from 3 years ago. I haven't had TOM in 1 1/2 yr so I know this has had an affect on my weight. I am still working on figuring out where I need to be calorie-wise to lose.
  • Hmmm...this is an interesting post. Here in the northeast USA we are still in the grips of winter and I have not gotten out to get my sunshine much at all. I have noticed the scale going up or at least staying put even though I am working with my eating and exercise. I think I will start taking my D3 again. I have a 5000…
  • I just got "The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer" and am really enjoying it.
  • No one in this group have any input on menopausal weight gain and EM2WL?
  • EM2WL = "eat more to weigh less" which is what this group is called. Basically it's better to have more calories in order to lose weight.
  • I am really struggling with what works for weight loss. Good to read these comments.
  • This is a good article! Thanks!
  • thanks for some good info to try incorporating into my life! :-)
  • I can never tell on a run if I'm working really hard and therefore sweating a lot or JUST having a hot flash!!! :-P
  • Yep, I'm not counting on being really done even though it's been 5 mos. since Aunt Flo - rude relative! - arrived last. A nurse last week at my colonoscopy tried to tell me that I was done. Nope! Not believing it. :noway: My hot flashes disappear a few weeks before she arrives, too. Hormones!!!! :grumble:  :ohwell:…
  • This is a good website! Thanks for the info.
  • I am dealing with similar stuff. I am not sure if it was new sneakers or mileage or just old age. :grumble: Runners World website has some good exercises to help strengthen leg and hip muscles. I ice after a run - going easy according to how the leg feels - and heat at bedtime. Also, rolling quads, hamstrings, and ITB is…
  • Going to be prepping for my 2nd one this weekend. (I take 2 days for fluids only so the actual cleansing is much easier.) family history of polyps and I had 8 (3 Pre-cancerous ones) last year at my first. My best advice is to find a doctor who has been recommended by someone you know. Ask lots of questions!
  • I have found that using a roller on all my leg muscles has loosened up tight spots that were giving me trouble. I just got a $15 one and roll for 2-3 min on each muscle group and ITB. Sometimes it hurts like crazy but in the end I'm better. Lots of how-to's on YouTube.
  • I have tried to add in different strength exercises but get bogged down when I follow the pace on a DVD. (No gym membership for me either.) I really like IronStrength Workout on Runners World. I can go at my own pace and work up as I get stronger.
  • I'm looking for the same thing! I'm 52 and have to be careful with the slowing metabolism. I agree that healthy is better than the <1200 cal way to go.
  • We are in our 20th year of homeschooling! This will be my last since my 16 yo will be full-time as a dual enrolled student (college courses for high school) starting in the fall at Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA. (His courses will be all online, $120/credit hr, and he'll get a full scholarship of these…
  • I have been wondering if maybe I was pregnant! Once I get started with the tears they just don't seem to stop. We watched October Baby last night and it literally wiped me out!
  • I love my oatmeal! I soak mine for at least 10 minutes with water and a couple tablespoons of plain yogurt. After I cook it (usually in the microwave) I add cinnamon and raisins and a little milk. No sugar needed and the raisins and cinnamon have good health benefits.
  • I was reading in Colossians today for my quiet time and was in chapter 3 where is says to put off earthly desires. I realized that one of my earthly desires is food! Ouch! :grumble: Anyway, while praying I realized that I should search for a Christian group on MFP for support. There are a bunch of them on here but I felt…
  • Just had one that woke me up last night. Hmm...hadn't thought of it as part of menopause.
  • It's a tough time for us and so hard to be consistent in weight loss. Try to evaluate what you are eating and change that up. I have had to decrease my sodium and be very careful of breads/carbs. My period has been every 4 months or so for the last year and it messes with my weight loss, too. I do like that my hot flashes…
  • I think I was in the same position - save them just in case. This time I did clean out what doesn't fit and am giving them all away. Safety nets are an easy way to fall back into old ways and I don't want to do that this time.
  • Keep eating well and exercising. Be patient with the weight loss. It WILL be slow! But, in the long run you will see loss. Sometimes I go for a few weeks with no loss and then lose a couple. It has taken me 1.5 years to lose almost 30 lbs but I don't feel as likely to gain it back as I did in the past.
  • My TOM makes it so I don't have hot flashes. Probably has to do with the hormones. I have my period about once every 4 months as of now and I can tell when it is coming because the flashes go away.
  • Love this! My husband is a math teacher. I'll have to show him this equation.
  • It is possible! Just be patient and let the weight come off slowly. At the dr yesterday I was "only" down 11 lbs since October but he said it was good and that I looked good, not sickly like some do who lose weight. I was frustrated at how slowly it has been coming off but I also feel that it will stay off this time. I am…
