  • Another Koko nut here. I love it! I look forward to going to the gym which hasn't happened for me in any other program. I love their incentives like points and medallions. The workouts are intense but not so long as to make me dread them.Coach in the air and the Fuel School are fantastic. I love that Koko is built around…
  • :) They have so many charities that benefit from this one. I find it's not super accurate in terms of distance covered but that's ok. I partner it with mapmyrun so I know my true distance but still feel great about my miles translating to dollars for my favorite charities!
  • I've never had an issue but I'm careful not to hang on. And in the market I've begun pushing the cart with only one hand so as not to "lose" any steps. I fully recognize that I look stupid btw. The first step is admitting you have a problem... LOL
  • Hi there, I'm an All Star cheer mom so I'm not so familiar with rec score sheets but I'd say to look up the ruberic they use to score and do whatever you can to maximize points with the tumbling you have. In All Stars, synchronized tumbling scores far higher than having the girls tumble one by one so that may be the way to…
  • I agree with everyone! It is a vacation and you should enjoy yourself. You'll be walking more than normal etc but I'd recommend keeping a level head at the same time. It might be a vacation from a strict diet but if you go overboard with your trigger foods it might be hard to reel it all in when you get home. I look at…
  • Thanks guys! I appreciate the references
  • I don't think there's a size! If you feel comfortable in a bikini then wear one. If you're relying on the opinions of others about your body or your comfort level then you'll simply never be good enough! Look at what people said about poor Kate Upton on the cover of Sports Illustrated!!! Your body belongs to you. Your soul…
  • to keep my healthy weight . I won't allow myself to backslide.
  • I agree. It's better to underestimate because I think, in general, we also tend to underestimate our food calories on occasion. At least I do LOL I use mapmyrun to map my walks and compare it to the results on my fitbit flex. Neither is perfect and they rarely are even. But at least we get an idea :)
  • For people who don't like water flavored with things like citrus I suggest you try slicing some cucumber and leaving it in a pitcher of water overnight. Doesn't sound amazing but it really is. That's what a lot of spa's do with the water they serve guests. My kids even love it (didn't see that one coming!)
  • I think the most important part is to always wear a well fitting bra and to exercise with a good compression one. My experience is that if you keep them under control they won't sag LOL
  • I just read the short version and I have to throw in my .02 I think that there should be given some thought to the socio-economic aspects of that study as well. In certain populations the access to greater quantities of red meat is an indication of higher income. Which could also expose one to better medical care. I love…
  • I did 75 minutes on my treadmill this morning while listening to an audiobook mystery. The time flew and I feel great. Wonderful way to start the day!
  • You're young and you're smart enough to have taken the steps to get the best care possible. You're 90% of the way there already. You're a fighter and you'll be ok. Just remember even strangers are here to help if you need it.
  • I hear you. I'm not a natural fan of exercise. I don't like the gym, would rather punch myself in the face than get on a bike etc etc. But I keep pushing myself to try new things and eventually I've found a couple of different exercises that I enjoy so much that they don't feel like work. I'm a huge fan of rollerblading…
  • I agree. Sounds like you're putting on muscle which is fantastic. More muscle means faster calorie burn. Don't get discouraged. You're actually moving toward your goal faster than you think!
  • Congratulations! I had a tummy tuck a few years back and I took the herb Arnica Montana sublingually to help reduce swelling. My doctor felt it made a huge difference and sped up my recovery. You might want to ask your doctor about it. Unfortunately, I did gain weight after my surgery and I can tell you that this is NOT…
  • My NSV for today is that I woke up with my normal level of energy and walked on my treadmill for an hour and 15 minutes. What makes it a victory is that for the last two days I've been feeling exhausted and achy so I hadn't exercised at all. I think I had a bug but in any case, being back to my more energetic self is a…
  • I make smoothies for my daughter very often. She doesn't have a hugely sweet tooth and is happy for me to throw a frozen banana in with some fresh strawberries. I might add a bit of milk or even yogurt sometimes. If strawberries aren't in season I'll use a fresh banana and frozen strawberries. I find that having one frozen…
  • I used canned clams for my Pasta with white clam sauce. I make mine lighter than most but its still not a low cal dish. I just saute some chopped garlic in a bit of EVOO until just starting to turn golden then add some white wine and let that simmer. Then I add the clams (I use 2 cans of clams) and the broth from just one…
  • I almost always am rushed for breakfast so I generally throw a cup of brewed coffee into my blender with a bunch of crushed ice and 1 scoop Vanilla Lean 25 Protein Powder from GNC and 1 scoop of chocolate Lean 25 powder. Makes a yummy and filling mocha shake. 25 grams of protein and 10 of fiber plus my caffeine. Not a bad…
  • Looks great! Thanks for the idea :)
  • No I don't track dry spices or fresh herbs. Its a conscious decision on my end. The effort to enter them outweighs the need for accuracy IMO. I don't use enough to really make a difference. I sometimes won't even log the clove or two of garlic I use. I know it can add up but for me, the small number doesn't make the effort…
  • You can do it! I've only been here a week but am a die hard MFP fan. Find a group of friends and then work the program with them. There's a lot of angry people in the community message boards and that can be distracting. I use the iphone app and that only lets me see the posts my friends (all positive people) make. Good…
  • I sent you a friend request. I'm glad to hear that you've had success with MFP. I've tried everything in the book and have only found (temporary) success with those silly extreme plans that never give long term solutions. I've found an amazingly supportive group of friends here and I'm so lucky to have found MFP. You're…
  • Congratulations on your wedding! I'm sure that it can feel extra stressful to have an event as important as that coming up... I can completely understand your tendency to binge at night. I join the people above me by saying try working out at night but that's kind of hard for me because then I find it tough to sleep. I…
  • I'd agree with the water idea. I know that it's tough to get the hang of balancing. A lot of times I'll fill out my food diary in the morning with the things I think I'll end up eating just to see how the numbers add up then I go back throughout the day and change to what I really ate. I've been lucky to have been pretty…
  • I'd say that all of the above are correct but I'd add that you might want to consider changing the ratios of your macros. Maybe less carbs/fat and more protein?
