  • SWIMMING!!!! Normally people that have been overweight for awhile have knee and/or hip problems, so they may not be able to start running right away because all that weight and pressure on your joints isn't good for them! I would recommend swimming. Swimming is a fantastic way to work all parts of your body without the…
  • I never stretch before a run. It doesn't matter how long my run is (usually 3-9 miles). I always do a 5 minute fast walk to warm up. Cold muscles should not be stretched "statically". but ALWAYS stretch after your run!!! Always! Also, I found a cool down walk helps me too!
  • Joining! I'm 5'3" so I hope that's okay :-) Obviously a member of the "shorties" haha Currently 117ish Goal: 112 =]
  • Depending on what type of exercise you are doing, you may need the extra carbs. <http://www.mylifestylediet.com/goodcarbs_badcarbs.php> Here is some good information on the type of carbs you should eat lots of, and others that you should limit
  • Well I know you can't leave the house so I can't say "go for a walk"...however, maybe you could clean? I know if I ever have a craving, but don't want to leave, I try to think of something I could do to stay productive and busy at home to keep my mind off of it. And if you work up a sweat, you could even count it as some…

  • You can definitly use Splenda for baking. Although, it bakes differently than real sugar, meaning things may not brown the same as they do with natural sugar. Although they should taste similar if not the same.
  • let me just say first of all, fantastic job. You look AMAZING and I know this sounds cliche, but I'm sure they are just jealous. Seriously. 124 lbs for someone who is 5'3" is perfectly healthy. I am 117 lbs and I am 5'3" and I am still trying to get rid of a few lbs. Everyone's structure and build is different of course,…
  • I totally know what you mean! I feel like I have more muscle on the right side of my stomach and the left side is a lot more soft, I am right handed and I think when I do ab exercises, I tend to favor my right side. Also, I noticed my right leg is more muscular because of the way I run, and also while doing p90x exercises…
  • Obviously you are vegan, which I definitly respect! You're diet looks pretty good, but may I suggest tracking other things such as fiber as well? It's good to see you are tracking protein, but fiber is also another component which ensures that full feeling, so then your day can feel more complete. I would also suggest…
  • When I did C25k I was never a runner, but I powered through this! You can do it!! BIG TIP: don't run faster than your body will allow you, If you start to feel tired, slooooow on down. Your body will eventually get used to it and be able to run at a faster pace for longer, but for now, I would just go just faster than a…
  • wow great article nat!! :D It makes me feel better about going over my carbs. I may be going over them (not by too much I would say), but I exercise on a daily basis. Cardio every day, and strength usually 3 times a week.
  • Macy's has a great assortment of clothing for all ages. Also, depending on the type of clothing, Express and New York and Company also sells very fashionable clothing for women. Not sure how much you are looking to spend though.
  • My moved in together about 7months ago and we've been together since we were 15. I knew that he didn't eat healthy, but when we were in high school he was always active in sports and whatnot, so he could eat anything and stay thin and fit. Well, after high school, he gained a bit of weight, and wasn't changing the way he…
  • I do think that the simple equation calories in vs calories out is partially correct, however, it also depends on what type of calories you are putting into your body. I'm pretty sure it goes dieting/healthy lifestyle is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Therefore, you can't expect to eat unhealthy and over your calories just to…
  • Get a heart rate monitor (HRM)!!!! It is a must because (at least for me) MFP was over calculating my calories burned because it never factors in your changing heart rate. As for the strength, I'd say you are okay to use the strength training cardio option. For Yoga, I would also use an HRM

  • first of all, I am with you. I love to take care of my man and he loves to take care of me. And by accident we have taken on those "gender roles" because I don't mind the cleaning and cooking ( I LOVE to cook!) and he doesn't mind being mister fix it and what not. I'd say, whatever works for you two, do it. Whatever makes…
  • Great advice, especially to those just starting out thinking that they need a gym or expensive equipment/weights/videos to get fit! if you really put your heart into doing these and work your booty off, there is no way you wouldn't see changes!!
  • your diary looks fine to me, except for the sodium, which like everyone said is from packaged products. As far as the protein goes, don't worry about it!! And, not sure if you've heard, but the following is something I've copied out of a research article about calories from Yahoo: For every 100 carbohydrate calories you…

  • trim the manhood along with the facial and any nasty back hair, and your set to go...as long as I can see your skin through your chest/leg hair lol
  • lol you are worrying about silly things!!! Honestly I don't think they look manly at all, you look strong, but not manly :-) The more and more definition you get, the more lean your arms will get, I wouldn't worry about it :-)
  • I have a binging problem also. I have been very successful in avoiding it lately because every time I feel like I am going to go and binge and pig out on crap or whatever, I make myself do an activity that gets me away from the food!! Last night I found myself in the kitchen staring in the cupboards...I knew that I wanted…
  • smashed cauliflour!! MMM!!!! Tastes just like mashed potatoes only BETTER!!!
  • I am one of those 120somethings who would like to be 115. Although I have that as my ultimate goal, I am not really that set on reaching it. I have a food addiction that I'm trying to get under control. Let me ask everyone on here with an "overweight" problem, don't you wish you had MFP to make sure you maintained your…
  • I weigh about 120 lbs right now, and I have to work super hard just to burn around 200 calories. There was one day that I burned around 500, which was AMAZING for me!! Although, I had to work out 3 times that day. Although running is a great exercise and get's my heart rate up there, nothing is better than tennis!! For…
