  • Yeah - Chicago Deep Dish is over my calorie goal for a day - even one slice :( However, I LOVE It. If it is the real deal (i.e. from Chicago) and you never get it (I live too close so this excuse does not work for me) - then you can freeze individual slices already cooked and they reheat really well! I'd do that and pick a…
  • Just my 2 cents - don't ever go by FitBit's calorie burn to earn more calories to eat. I LOVE the FitBit for incenting you to stay active during the day and for making you aware if you aren't active at all. However, it is really just a glorified pedometer - I wouldn't ever count on ANY of the calorie burns (whether…
  • A day ahead.....I do a week ahead - lol. Well, I meal plan a week ahead. I won't actually put into MFP until the night before. If I don't pre-plan (based on where I'll be, what hours I have to work, etc) is KEY. If I don't, I fall apart. If I do, it's fantastic. I don't think about what I'm going to eat - I just follow the…
  • People have strong opinions on it. I haven't read this thread because I'm sure it's full of the strong opinions. Here is my take after trying follow it for awhile.....I think you need to research it and really learn about it. I followed for 46 days (Lent) - without calorie counting. I felt great, but lost very little…
  • And it's only the Force, no issue with any other products.
  • My mom has been weing her's since Christmas with no issues. My understanding it is a limited number of people, but enough that it is causing concerns. FitBit is saying it is due to small amounts of nickel potentially. If you've ever worn jewelery (especially costume type - not the 100% gold type), you should know if you…
  • I think everyone is focusing too much on the Zumba - weight loss is at least 80% what you eat. At least - if not more. So, I wouldn't focus on adding more exercise in an already packed schedule, I would focus more on what you are eating. Adding more time for exercise is only going to cause stress which has been shown to…
  • I agree with the above with one caveat. It's what you eat, not how much you eat - at least for me. I can eat 1200 calories of junk and lose - maybe a pound a week. OR I can eat 1700 calories of good for me, whole foods (proteins, veggies, good fats) and lose the same amount. I used to be a big believer in all calories are…
  • You really give us too little information to go on. We don't know your height, age, activity level, what exercise you are doing, etc. But in general, assuming your set up your profile correctly (age, weight, general activity level (I always err on stating lower then I think here) and desired amount to lose per week),…
  • Just another day. I ignore it. I neither loath it nor like it. Although now that you mention voodoo........
  • 5'4" - 145. I'm a size 4/6 at 145 with how I carry my weight (all in my legs and boobs) - and I think I can maintain that. I, frankly, don't ever remember being under that and I'm not sure I'd maintain it.
  • I'm on the short size (5'4" on a good day). And unfortunately, know from experience when I start to see size shifts. The first shift down takes 20-25 pounds, but for some reason, from there on out - it only takes about 10 pounds. I'm guessing its because at that point I'm working out more - but really, just don't know why…
  • This is for me personally only. I don't generally eat enough protein to keep me full. Protein has been shown over and over again to be better at keeping you full longer - so......I eat them to keep me full and not thinking about food so I don't have to rely on "will power." A watch out is you have to use them as a meal…
  • Here is the info for baked boneless - 3 oz, no sauce (184 calories - not as bad as I thought!): http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calories.asp?recipe=409114 Hope that helps! You can compare to what you have and make a logical guess....
  • Since it is a meat generally served with the bone - I'm guessing with the bone. (also, I'd rather over count then under count calories). I believe things like T Bone steak are also with the bone in --- I only assume boneless if it says boneless or without bone.
  • I'll repeat the burrito bowl suggestion. I normally just get 1/2 the rice if I get it at all. And all the veggies! You can totally watch them put in stuff - so just tell them "just a little" of the splurge items - they will add little bits of time looking at you to tell them when to stop --- if I feel the need for gauc I…
  • I just searched to see if I could find it and couldn't - I'll look again when I have more time. Years ago, I bought an adapter for my crockpot - you plug the crockpot into this thing and then into the wall -- anyway, I got it because it would auto switch to just "Warm" after 4-6-or 8 hours depending on how you program it.…
  • I'm lucky - I never had one with whipped cream so I don't know what I'm missing - I just order mine with Skim and no whip. I tried it with soy - not the same for some reason.
  • Greek yogurt with flax seeds blended with fruit and a handful of spinach (or just fruit and salad on the side if blending isn't an option). Oatmeal made with skim milk w/ canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice mixed in. Or make with water and then add walnuts to that mixture. Cereal - Quaker Oat Squares, Kashi, etc - with…
  • The only thing I think of is the male watch is probably bigger with a bigger wrist band (I don't know for certain, just guessing) so if you have smaller wrists, you may not want the male version.
  • Yes, you can do 20 pounds......but you have to be 100% on everyday to do that. I know from past experience that it is possible for me if I really stick my mind to it and go all out (almost obsessive though - so depends if you are willing to go that far). Let me know if you are in for trying - maybe we could support one…
  • I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I have two states of depression - one where I drop weight like crazy because I can't be bothered to even eat. The other is much more common and is what you describe. First and foremost, please be sure you are getting help. Whether that is in the form of talk therapy,…
  • There was just a story out (I'll link at the bottom) that confirmed this. Anything over 100% is actually not good for you. In fact, if you have a balanced diet, any amount could be harmful (emphasis on COULD). I haven't looked into the science completely - but it is a long range study which gives it a bit of credence.…
  • I had NO CLUE you could do this!! I am all over this tip!
  • Yep. My calves are the worst part of my body by far. Hate them. Complete genetics - my dad and brothers have them too. Even at my skinniest - they are awful. I also have thick ankles though too. I've thought MANY times about having them "fixed." I have no idea what can be done for them, and I have to lose the weight first…
  • I agree - just be consistent and you'll be fine .... on this account.... I work in a company that has lots of odd shifts (luckily, I usually work a straight M-F day job --- but sometimes have the kind of odd schedule you are talking about - but only once or twice a year). Anyway, tons of research has been done on how…
  • I am NOT saying this is your issue --- but I can easily undo a full weeks worth of eating at goal by having one day of "cheating." My point is before jumping to ask the doctor (which is what I would suggest you do), make sure you are being honest with yourself. For me (not for everyone, but for me), I can easily have a…
  • Oh - it doesn't do HR - I don't know of one that does HR.
  • I like the FitBit. It's about $99 (you can get a coupon every once in awhile at Best Buy). So not cheap, but I'm not sure you'll find a cheap one that tells you calorie burn. It was the most inexpensive I could find anyway.
  • The HRM is more accurate. And that burn sounds right to me from the 2 HRMs that I have (Garmin and Polar).
