I was curious too how the get your resting burn, and I found this from fitbit: https://help.fitbit.com/customer/portal/articles/898903-how-does-fitbit-know-how-many-calories-i-ve-burned-

I'm not sure on your question about the exercise registering. But fitbit and and mfp will sync throughout the day. And based on how many calories fitbit projects you will burn throughout the day, mfp will adjust its goal calorie amount for you by either adding or subtracting calories (you have to enable the negative…

I figured it out...apparently when I set it up, fitbit missed my losing per week goal and had me maintaining my weight, hence the ~500 calorie difference between mfp and fitbit
-
Today was my first full day using my fitbit and fitbit is telling me I has 1050 calories still to eat today and mfp is telling me I have 476. I'm going to lean towards the lower allowance for now but I hope the difference gets smaller soon. I got the fitbit so I could know really how much I needed vs a guess with activity…

I am right there with you. I gained back everything I had lost over the period of a year plus some, in another year. It has taken me months of saying "I'm going to start" or starting for two days and then giving up. I am now in my third week on logging every day with the exception of my free days. I am doing my best to not…

I would def up your calories...I tried doing insanity on that low of a diet and it was awful. I had much more energy for the workouts after going up to 1700-1800 a day

my hrm usually has a lot higher vales than the machines. for example earlier this week i went 30 min on the elliptical, ~6.1 mph avg with an avg heart rate in the 170s and it said i burned 778. i am 5'10, 198lb and 20 y.o.

i used to guess when i did insanity but when i finally got a heart rate monitor i found out i was way underestimating (which was partially on purpose) i personally burn about 600-800 calories for a 40 min session depending on how much effort i put it, that specific workout, etc
