  • Actually, you can have too much water in a day. Too much water will flush vital nutrients from your body, including sodium & potassium which can cause muscle spasm/cramping, dizziness, weakness, etc. It's ok to drink plenty of water, but make sure you are getting enough sodium.

  • Upper body/core workouts are a great way to mix things up. You can do something like yoga to get in a good stretch, or do upper body resistance work. It's VERY important to do strength training - muscle burns fat! If you don't have access to a gym, you can do a lot with just body-weight workouts - push-ups, planks, side…
  • Shakeology has more nutritional value & very well balanced. I like to have one for breakfast, quick & super healthy, great way to start your day. Order it with Beachbody's home direct plan (monthly shipments & you don't pay for shipping) & you get the Shakeology workouts with it.
  • Do you do most of the cooking and/or grocery shopping? If there aren't unhealthy foods in the house, makes it harder to eat them. Clean cooking & just trying to set a good example is a gentle start. My husband recently joined Slimgenics, a local weight loss center, and has had great success so far (almost 15 lbs in 2 wks).…

  • I know I burn 500-600 with any of the Insanity workouts, P90X resistance are usually 250-300, plyo & kenpo around 400. I haven't done yoga-x for a long time (Tony's One on One Patience Hummingbird is more my style), but sadly, I think it's only around 200 calories. Don't think of it so much as how many calories you are…
  • If I'm working out at home, racer back sports bra & either shorts or yoga pants/capris. If I'm at the gym, racer back tank top & these awesome New Balance shorts that I have. Sometimes capri tights, too, I guess. Whatever is comfy & form-fitted, I hate those baggy t-shirts & shorts.
  • It definitely lives up to it's name, that's for sure. It is crazy hard. I am not a cardio junkie, so I'd have to say that it's not my favorite workout program, but it is certainly a challenge & a great workout. Good luck to you - I missed my resistance workouts so only did the first month.
  • I track it under cardio, just list my workout (ie: P90X Legs & Back, or whatever I've just finished) and enter the calories from my heart rate monitor. My strength workouts vary from 250-450 calories, depending on what I do.
  • I did the first month - it's insane, isn't it? I really missed the resistance work, so went back to P90X with cardio days doing Insanity. Have fun - it's a great workout.
  • It's a great sign if you are hungry - that means your metablism is cranked up. So, fuel it, eat something! You don't have to eat only protein bars/shakes, yogurt with fruit & some almonds is a great snack, try to keep it around 200 calories, more protein than carbs. Don't short yourself on the carbs, either, if you are…
  • P90X is awesome, as are many of the other Beachbody workouts. Keep up the hard work, and make sure you are eating clean. If you aren't already, I would HIGHLY recommend the Results and Recovery Formula that Beachbody sells. It's a recovery drink for right after your workouts, helps minimize soreness and aids in muscle…
  • Did you have a bad or good experience at the gym?
  • You are really hindering your weightloss by not eating breakfast. You burn up 80% of your glycogen stores while you sleep, so when you get up and start moving, you only have 20% left to fuel you until you eat. With nothing to burn for fuel, your body will start to break down lean muscle tissue for energy. You should eat…
  • DON'T DO IT!!! Never inject a hormone into your body unless you are receiving some sort of medical treatment provided by a licensed physician. You didn't put your weight on overnight, so you can't expect to lose it overnight, either. It's much healthier for you to do this the right way, by eating the right foods &…
  • I totally agree! The last thing I want to do after working all day and taking care of my family is workout. Plus, it wakes me up, so I'm up way later than I should be. I have been working out at 5 AM for the past 3 years, I just know that it's the only time of day that I can workout, so I have to get up and do it. I know…
  • You don't really have to be all that concerned about your naturally occurring sugars, they get burned up very quickly. You need to be more concerned about sugars that will be converted to fat rather than used for energy, like the ones in candy or artificial sweeteners. Eat your calories, and don't stress about sugars quite…
  • If you've done some resistance training in the past, you should be able to do the workouts, and make modifications along the way. I would suggest Chalean to start with, considering you aren't doing anything real intense right now. Do your 3 months of that, then see if you're ready for something more intense, like P90X. I…
  • I've done both, well, Insanity, also. It really depends on your goals, if you are just getting started, Chalean is certainly less intense and geared more toward women - lots of moves to tone/sculpt arms and shoulders as well as hips/thighs. P90X is more intense, more upper body work but a fantastic nutrition guide to help…
  • I totally agree with both! I love P90X, and have not gotten bulky at all after doing several rounds of it. I also completely agree that you shouldn't buy it elsewhere. Good luck - you'll love it!
  • I've done a lot of the Beachbody programs, P90X, Chalean Extreme, Power 90, Insanity and love them all. They are great - lots of variety and good mix of strength and cardio. Jillian Michaels 30 day shred is also a great workout. Good luck! Stephanie Oh, and are you sure losing 36 pounds isn't too much? If you are 5'9", 135…
  • I have done this program, and many other Beachbody workouts, I don't think these will be a waste of your time or money. If you stack, you will certainly get a great workout, the cardio workout gets you moving right away, and the core workout is a real burner. It really is amazing how hard you can work and how much you can…
  • P90X has a yoga workout included. It's 90 minutes, so a lot of the time I do just the first 45 minutes. It's tough, but a great workout. I've also done Seane Corne, Gaiam and Biggest Loser. Beachbody also has One on One with Tony Horton Fountain of Youth yoga, again, about 45 minutes. Good luck, you'll LOVE P90X!!
  • Ice it for a couple more days. Then start massaging out the contusion, this won't be comfortable, but it's the best way to get the bruise to mobilize and heal. I would not suggest you run on it until you can walk without pain, then walk...jog...run. Stephomie
  • Two egg omelette with feta, bacon pieces, mushrooms and orange peppers; sandwich thins with natural peanut butter and a cup of coffee. (just under 400 calories).
  • You should eat something protein rich, protein shakes, protein bars, yogurt with fruit in it, raw almonds, low fat cottage cheese. Typically your main meals should be about 300-400 calories and snacks right around 200-300, that would give you about 1600 calories per day, so go from there. Make sure you are eating nutrient…
  • I'd say record everything separately, also. Those wraps themselves can sometimes be over 200 calories, then add plus bbq, ranch and cheese, that could easily give you 200-300 more. I would guess that the cottage cheese was not a low fat one, so again, calorie rich. Here's my suggestion for the next time you go there to…
  • P90X is awesome! You'll love it, great routines that you have never thought of doing yourself. I have done it, as well as many other Beachbody workouts, for over 2 years and I can't tell you how much they have done for me. Make time for the workouts, and after you've done them a few times, you can FF past his talking and…
  • If you are afraid that you won't get back to the gym or your workouts, how about doing some yoga/stretching or just going for a walk? That way you are still getting in a workout, not killing yourself, and not feeling guilty about not exercising. Don't worry about the calories you burn in that week, just be mindful of your…
  • I've done both workouts, as well. The Chalean cardio doesn't compare to Insanity, but I don't think anything out there does! It will be a welcome break from the intensity of Insanity. I love Chalean Extreme, great workouts that really are geared for women - butt, thighs, hips, core. Another great series from Beachbody!…
  • Of course not, if you aren't feeling good, you should rest and get better, just try not to eat way over your calories. If you decide to have something later, pick something more nutrient dense than cereal. Make those calories worth something.
