  • Hi 60+ community. I'm back on the wagon again, a few years older than my last effort. Wishful thinking led to an eventual slide to putting the weight back on. I'm determined again to get my weight back down to healthy levels. I know what needs to be done, encouragement along the way is welcome. -Gwen

  • I wonder what got his goat yesterday. Does he really believe that saying something mean is motivating? I consider this 'kick the dog' syndrome. Someone has a bad day and responds by attacking someone close to them, like kicking the dog, or calling you names. What is coming out of his mouth is about him, not about you. I…
  • What bothers you exactly? Watching her behavior? Hearing her eat? Smelling the food? Knowing she's eating what you want to eat? I think figuring out precisely what bothers you would be a good start. You are the one being bothered, apparently not her. For me, I think hearing package rattling and the smell would get to me.…
  • Hello Ravenclaw's! I've been AWOE (Absent With Out Excuse) for the past few months. Job search, lawsuit, birthday, new job, all kinds of stuff. I'm back on the bandwagon to lose the remaining weight I set for myself as a goal. I just bought my airfare to Paris in November, so I have lots of incentive to look my best on my…
  • Spot on. When I hesitate to work out, I ask myself, "This is the ideal time to work out, when I originally planned. It isn't going to be any more convenient than right now. And if I tell myself if I can't do it now, when is it going to be better?"
  • I'm losing ground. I haven't been very careful about logging my calories this week.
  • Happy Friday Ravenclaws!
  • Good morning Ravenclaws!
  • Welcome new Ravenclaws!
  • good day yesterday, working on a repeat today.
  • I'm back from my weekend retreat. I had a fantastic time. Now back to the regular daily activities. This weekend I completely went overboard, like a kid away from home for the first time. Not nearly enough water. I ate candy, chocolate, ice cream, big portions, a couple beers. Not exactly binging, but in no way was I under…
  • Post, post, post, get those spirit OWLs up! Tomorrow morning I'm leaving for Port Townsend for a long weekend, but I will be online sporadically and continuing to log. I probably will be off my calorie goals, but hey, who knows, maybe some of my regular counting habits will stick.
  • Finally passed my last certification exam...I'm now officially a Microsoft Certified IT Pro as a Windows Server 2008 R2, Virtualization Administrator. Who decided that getting this was a good idea? :ohwell: The things we put ourselves through. Yeesh.
  • Me too. I solved the problem by having someone come in every other week to do the stuff I hate. :blushing: Doesn't help with the weight loss, but the bathrooms and all of the floors are cleaned on a regular basis.
  • Thanks for the remind to update my stats Kelly! I think I may be truly recovering from the holidays. I've been diligently logging my less than ideal food choices. Even though 4oz of red wine seems like 'only 82 calories' I know that it affects my metabolism. I need to save that 'health tonic' for when I'm at my goal…
  • Doh... I thought you said "Butt Ticking" I don't want to be near no ticking butts...
  • I don't mind a second look or a whistle, but when it feels like harassment, it is. I'd consider the guy watching my *kitten* when I'm on the bike harassment. What other creepy thing is he willing to do? Take pictures? Stalk me? Go find a trainer or staff and explain the situation. They should be motivated to make the gym a…
  • Status updated. If nothing else, the blast of snow is making me get out and shovel, which should get my activity level up.

Did you know: Heart disease is the number one killer of women. http://heartdisease.about.com/od/womenheartdisease/a/womenrisk2.htm More reasons…

  • arrgh! - I just lost my post because the previous post locked. Starting over - I'm sure this is shorter than my previous post, but maybe that is to your benefit. Thanks to Kelly for sending me an email to post my weight. I needed that kick in the pants. I put the Ravenclaw house discussion back on my browser…

  • great post. Makes me rethink my food planning. Why have a cheat when you can plan for a day with more food and still lose weight.
  • Hello Ravenclaws, Happy New Year! I'm back from my self imposed seclusion. I passed my latest MCP exam (yay) and the holidays are over (yay). No more volunteering for the Garden D'Lights display either. http://www.bellevuebotanical.org My weigh in for the month is 179.5 lb. My goal for January is 4 lbs, or 175.5 lb. I'm…

  • I'm logging. It's a habit now and it keeps me on track. I notice that I don't want to eat as much the next day.
  • It's hard to say, I switched brands. A size 16 Lee jeans is bigger than a size 16 Dockers. I'm 5'9" and currently weigh 179.5. My size 16 Long Dockers, which I wasn't able to wear 20 lbs ago, are baggy on me. I can now easily wear a pair of long underwear under these pants. A few more pounds and I'll can go down a size.…
  • I just took a month off and focused only on logging food. I was feeling unmotivated. Yeah, I had a couple out of control moments, but I still logged it. Ended up losing 2.2 lbs for the month. I feel much better about diving back in now and I don't feel like I sabotaged myself. Good luck!
