TDEE & BMR: What they are and what to do with them
TDEE - What is it and why you should not eat below your BMR What is BMR? Your basal metabolic rate, or BMR, is the minimum calorific requirement needed to sustain life in a resting individual. It can be looked at as being the amount of energy (measured in calories) expended by the body to remain in bed all day! What is…

Celebrating Non-Scale Victories! Members share your NSVs here!
The scale isn't the be-all and end-all for feedback on your fat loss efforts. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers, especially if you're in the not-so-great habit of weighing in every week. There's a danger in depending solely on the scale for feedback. If it shows that you didn't lose or that you gained, you might…

Celebrating a healing metabolism...
For those that don't know me, I've been a part of EM2WL since March of this year. I came to this forum in bad shape. 20 years of a VLCD practice and severe over exercising had put my body and my metabolism into a tailspin and I was crashing mentally, physically and emotionally. I am now into my 7th month of EM2WL. It's…

STS - Sell me on it...
Ok...need some opinions. I'm seriously thinking of getting STS for the New Year. BUT...what I want to know is....WHY is it superior to other workouts...what can I expect to gain from it that I can't get from really pushing myself in say...Chalean Extreme, or NROL4W? Is it worth my investment or can I get great results with…

Stickies have been 'Cleaned Up'
You may now notice that we have shortened our stickies considerably. Except for a few of them, most of what is left is what we consider to be the main stickies required after we fully transition to the new forums on EM2WL.com. If a favorite sticky has been 'unstickied' or re-created to combine info, we do apologize for any…

ChaLEAN Extreme AFTER p90X - what I think...
Ok, so many of you wanted to know what I think of doing CLX after graduating p90X....Here are my thoughts so far (this is only one week in, so I'll definitely try to come back and update this after each phase). 1. CLX feels much easier in the lifting circuits at first until you realize that you can lift MUCH heavier in her…

Beans...
Ok, so I LOVE beans...all beans, and they are soooo good for added protein, but getting my family to eat them is like trying staple jello to a tree. :explode: I'm talking about things like kidney beans and black beans etc. They don't like the texture. I've tried them in soups, chili, etc. Does anyone else have this…

How Long To Reset (Kiki's Response)
For all of you trying to figure out what signs to look for when resetting as to whether you are ready to cut, here's a response from Kiki that I think will help you! "4-6 weeks is minimum, 8-12 is even better. I did take 3+ months, because most research that I'd done showed that it could take up 6 months, and I…

Metabolic Reset Survivor Virtual Pin
I posted this in the Reset Support Thread, but thought it might be easier for people to find later if it was at the top of it's own thread... Plus some of you may have already completed your reset and may no longer be browsing that thread. Anyone who is doing a reset or has done a reset knows how unbelievably…

exercise/lifting - bored, need variety!
I workout at home. I have up to 25lb dumbbells, a pull up bar, a stability ball, and a treadmill. Currently I am doing P90X, which is an awesome workout. But, I'm borrrrred - I've been doing that for several months now. I need some more lifting/strength ideas that I could incorporate to keep things 'fresh'. I'm kind of a…

Polar FT80 Voted Best Strength Training Watch
Anyone use this or know if it lives up to it's review? Or is it just another gimmick? Here's the excerpt that particularly interested me: '...[It has a] unique strength training program that tells the user precisely when to begin their next set while weight lifting or doing intervals. The fact that no other watch had this…

Don't make this blunder....
For anyone who has started the EM method after being on a VLCD for a while, I highly encourage you to do a full reset (eating at maintenance NOT TDEE - 15%). Here's why: When I joined this group 8 weeks ago I somehow got it into my head that eating at TDEE -15% was good enough to lose. hmmm, well it's 8 weeks later, I've…

how do you measure your tummy?
I'm having trouble getting a 'true' reading off my stomach. Too squishy, lumpy..:grumble: So I started pushing my stomach out as FAR as I can and measuring that once it's good and tight....I realize that gives a rather massive reading, but right now I'm mostly concerned with how much it drops or gains than what the actual…

I think most of us are ED recovery patients....
Ok, so I know that I personally have never been a typical anorexic, but over time I have discovered there are so many forms of eating disorders out there. I now personally believe that those of us who are having the worst trouble wrapping our minds around the concepts of Eating More and are seeing the slowest, most…

Body Media Fit question....
I'm waiting for my BMF to arrive and I was just on the site setting up my profile. it asked me to chose an activity plan or create a custom one...I'm not sure what to put in for vigorous activity since I plan on doing one hour lifting 3 times per week (with maybe a 1 hr cardio thrown in once in awhile) but not every day…

Healthy workout? Opinions?
ok, so...I've been over-training. (basically working my butt bigger) sigh. So, question for you guys...if I drop my workouts to 2 lift days, one plyometrics (jump training) day and 7 days a week walking dog for hour, would you consider that to be a 3-5 day/week moderate activity level?? (and a normal workout level?) I…

Fellow Canadians: Sodium in Canada....
If you are a Canadian like me, and you are trying to keep those dreaded sodium levels down...you really should watch this. Eating More getting you down?
I always believed I was a strong, disciplined person when I was eating eating vlcd and exercising like crazy. I mean, it takes will and a certain strength to do that right? huh.... This takes more determination, patience, strength and will power than starving myself EVER did. The emotional rollercoaster, the 'going against…

NROLFW vs P90X?
I've been doing P90X for a bit now and am just starting my 3rd phase. I don't mind it, but I won't say it's my favorite program in the world!! As I've been checking out the forum, I've been hearing so much about NROLFW that I'm wondering if I should get the book and switch things up a bit after I'm done my last phase of…

Water Retention Question...
Ok, is it seriously possible to gain 1 pound per day of water if the only thing I've changed about my diet since eating more is eating more?! I haven't changed my salt intake or anything (and since I don't eat a lot of prepackaged foods or add salt to my food it can't have gone up that much with the additional food…

Pot Roasted Calories??
Does anyone know how many extra calories to add to vegetables cooked in a pot roast to account for the fat/meat drippings that get soaked up? I've tried to find something that separates it out and the closest I can find is that meat drippings are 113 calories/tbsp.... Does that sound about right?
