A B*tchy Rant - not for the easily offended 'cuz I might be
Title: A B*itchy Rant - not for easily offended 'cuz I might be talking about you. I didn't know which thread to post this on, but this seemed reasonable. I am afraid this is going to come off as sounding b*tchy, and I don't mean it to be. I'm equally annoyed, mystified, and troubled by a trend I've been noticing both here…

The secret to success... or is it?
Starting a debate thread to answer the following question: Is intrinsic or extrinsic motivation most important in successful weight loss and maintenance? Just so we're all on the same page, how I define intrinsic motivation is being motivated by things within yourself, like feeling healthy, to feel better, to be proud of…

Still a *(#&)*!(@* struggle
Repost with update: I am struggling. Over six years into this weight loss revolution and what I thought was well established into a healthy lifestyle... and I still struggle. I fear I'm battling a funk of semi-depression. I'm not naturally prone to depression, but I can feel it cloying at my mind and spirit. I'm fortunate…

The slippery slope of old habits - and I'm freaking*@(! out
I am struggling. Over six years into this weight loss revolution and what I thought was well established into a healthy lifestyle... and I still struggle. I fear I'm battling a funk of semi-depression. I'm not naturally prone to depression, but I can feel it cloying at my mind and spirit. I'm fortunate to have a great job,…

Mexican Food Yum-O
I adore Mexican food. Here’s my healthy Mexican swap that hits all my favorites parts about the fare and has me saying Ole! Not only is it healthy, it’s FAST! 1. Take 2 small corn tortillas and pierce each a couple times with a fork. Spritz with Pam or a very light spray of olive oil, pop into the toaster oven and toast…

Living Outside the Box
If you're one of MFP friends or on Facebook, you've probably read that I’ve been baking up a storm. I’m not a baker by nature, so this is a new experience and I’ve been enjoying it. The more I’m working, the more I’m realizing the value of true, old-fashioned, hand made food. It’s a little tragedy that in today’s busy…

Any Phoenix, Arizonans want to begin a walking club?
I used to facilitate a walking club, and it was wonderful. We met all sorts of different places, and had enough participants that we could tailor smaller groups to anyone's speed or ability level. It was wonderful. Dogs and children were welcome and encouraged. But it's tough in AZ with the heat and everyone's schedules.…

Nucking Futs
So, I can't stop eating. Seriously crazy here. Not hungry, just antsy. Mindless. I attribute some of it to hormones - but it's just so... mindless. Nothing seems to "hit" the spot. It's only 4pm. Tried working out, but when I got done, I was still food-obsessed. Went for a bike ride - - - immediately came home and looked…

Hunger or Habit
If I only ate when I was hungry, I would be normal weight. I’ve known this truth for a long time, but it’s becoming more and more clear as days go by. Entering my food diligently in my diary, as I eat it, has been helpful and provided a lot of insight. As I enter, I ask myself: - Why are you eating now? - Are you feeling…

A Letter to my Body (please post yours!)
Dear Body, I know we’ve had our differences over the years, but I’d like to take a minute to thank you for supporting me – pun absolutely intended. Your unconditional love is astounding. Through the years, I’ve abused you, neglected you, hated you, and cursed you. I’ve put caustic, unhealthy, fatty, poison into you. I…

Zucchini Chips
I just made the best snack!! I took 3 small zucchini's, sliced them ultra-thin in the food processor. Then I tinfoil-wrapped a baking sheet, spritzed with Pam (actually, I used an olive oil mist), sprinkled with steak seasoning (salt, garlic, onion, black pepper), spread them out, baked for 5 mintues at 450 degrees... then…

If you love french fries and BBQ Char
So I'm a sucker for the crispy, almost burned edges of any chargrilled meat. I'm also a sucker for French Fries. So here's my crazy combo that hits the salty, crunchy, french fry craving - and it couldn't easier with only 2 ingredients. Ingredients: Grill seasoning, oil spray, green beans* 1) Line a pan with tin foil. Turn…

"You can't do this" and other Inner Voice lies
In the back of my mind, I always harbored thoughts about what a crap hand I was dealt when it came to my body. Genetically, I was pre-disposed to being overweight, heart disease, diabetes, cancer. My mother died before she was 60, my father had a quadruple bypass before he was 62. I was diagnosed with a clotting disorder…

High calorie-exercise values?
Does anyone else think that most of the exercise totals over-estimate the calories burned? I mean, I am NOT complaining, but I just don't think they are completely accurate and are giving me more padding than I should have.

P90X - Uh Oh
I'm very proud (and simultaneously freaked out) to say that I just ordered the P90X training package. Time to ramp it up a little, and I keep hearing how grueling but fabulous this workout can be. It should arrive tomorrow, so that will be DAY ONE of P90!!!

GASSY as heck, just call me Toots
Ok. So it's not socially acceptable to discuss. But, hell - I'm gassy. Farty McParty. Breaking Wind Gassalicious. It's awful. I'm assuming it's because I've been upping my fiber and eating lots of veggies. My stomach ache and increased poop frequency supports that theory. It's getting harder to blame on the dog. Especially…

Some days are just hard
Today is one of those days. I had a great weigh in. A good training session. Ate according to plan. And now it's almost 7pm and I'm DYING. I'm not hungry, but I want to eat. My friend was just over and talking about tacos and refried beans and chips and salsa... my weaknesses. I know how to recreate those items and make…

Snack Attack
I'm hungry. I'm snacky. I'm trying REALLY HARD to stay on program and eat within my goals. I just watched my boyfriend consume an entire pizza (and he remains rail thin). I'm jealous. And I want to lick the pizza box. I'm going to have a banana now and eat a Lean Cuisine for lunch. Maybe add a big salad. Aargh.
