Breakfast
So today I ran into this article: https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/04/22/health/skipping-breakfast-cardiovascular-death-study/index.html?r=https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/04/22/health/skipping-breakfast-cardiovascular-death-study/index.html In essence the article says that skipping breakfast is associated with heart disease. I,…

Half Marathon (Realistic expectations)
Hello everyone, This post has two purposes: Share my experiences and ask some questions. Experiences: I consider myself a runner. I started to run almost a year ago. Initially I didn't have too much experience or expectations. I used to just go to the treadmill and ran a couple minutes here and there. Then, one day, I…

Oven Roasted Chicken Chop Salad
So I ordered the chicken chop said from Subway. All the veggies and just vinegar. The website and MFP have 150 calories for that salad, but for some reason it seems kind of low. Any thoughts? I'm thinking that the salad is close to 250 calories, but I could be wrong.

Garmin Forerunner 235
Does anyone have the Garmin Forerunner 235? I am essentially looking for a Smartwatch for running. I am training for a 10K. I currently have the FitBit Blaze, and although I love FitBit and this device has been with me throughout my 50 lbs. weight loss journey, I think that it's time to get a new gadget. Since I've been…

My FitBit has gone crazy...
So lately my FitBit Blaze has been giving me an insane amount of calories which are clearly overstated. For example yesterday I had 13,000 steps including a decent run and the calories burned were around 1,200, which seems reasonable. Today, though, I had 17,000 steps including a similar run than the day before yet the…

Running books
Has anyone read this book? I've been thinking about buying it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/014312319X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500603335&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=running+book&dpPl=1&dpID=51rKMl8XvBL&ref=plSrch I'm currently training for a 10K, and I'm trying to improve my running form. Currently…

Star Wars Half Marathon
Anyone doing the Star Wars Half Marathon either in January (California) or April (Florida)? I just enrolled to the one in April (The dark side half marathon). If you are doing the race please add me and let's motivate each other and share virtual tips. This will be my first half. I have a couple 5Ks in between and my first…

Back problems
Hello everyone, so I posted here before about some back problems that I've been having, and I received some helpful information. Just to summarize, I was diagnosed with sciatic nerve problems almost a year ago, never got treatment, and I was able to do all my activities normally. As a matter of fact I was able to go from 0…

Elliptical for running
I don't know if this was asked before, but I guess that I should try to ask it. First let me give you a little background. I completed the C25K program few weeks ago and I was in an amazing rhythm. I was training for my first 10K, which is scheduled on October, and doing the stronglifts program. I was easily running around…

Back pain
Hello everyone, apparently I hurt myself doing kettlebells. I have a nagging pain in my lower back that has been going on for a few days. I realized that I need to go to the doctor. The question I have is, which doctor should I see? Orthopedist? GP? I have a medical plan that allow me to go straight to the specialist if I…

5K and 10K together?
Hello everyone, So I've been running for the last couple months and I finally completed my first 5K. I have schedule my first 10K for October (I'm in my mid 30s) which gives me enough time to train (I am using the ZenLabs 10K app btw). The thing, though, is that the day before my 10K I enrolled in a Terrain Obstacle 5K…

My first 5K
Last Thursday I ran my first 5K (The race was actually 3.5 miles). I'm in my mid 30s and this was the biggest athletic accomplishment in my life (yeah that sounded kind of lame). I was planning for 40 minutes, praying for 35, but surprisingly I finished in less than 29 minutes (28:43 to me more precise). Maybe it was…

Tips please...
So I finally completed week 8 of C25K, and the only thing left is run a 5K. Yesterday I was able to run 30 minutes straight for the first time in my life. The thing, though, is that I've been repeating the weeks at least twice, so I should be set to repeat week 8 next week. I am however set to do a 3.5 mile run at work…

Beyond C25K
So I'm close to graduate the C25K program. I plan to run a couple of 5Ks on my own a few weeks before jumping into the 10K app. I, however, couldn't find a link between the 10K app and MFP. Anyone did the 10K trainer? How would I link this to MFP? TIA

The scale Gods today smiled upon me...
Hello everyone, this is my first (and hopefully not my last) post in this section. I will not bore with all the details of my weight loss journey (yet), so I will just give you a brief overview. I started this journey with 230lbs~ and today I have the certainty that I am below 200 lbs (197 to be more precise). Last time I…

C25K
So I completed week 6 of C25K, which means that now I'm able to run 22 minutes straight. That is a big milestone for me as before I couldn't even run for 5 minutes. Despite that I still consider myself a newbie runner, and most likely I will repeat week 6 at least twice. The question I have, though, is why the app go from…

Speed or Resistance
Hello everyone, I just have few quick question that I need to ask. First let me tell you that I enrolled to officially run my first 5K in July 4th, which gives me plenty of time to train a little more. Today I completed week 5 of the program (I have been repeating some weeks to gain more confidence), which means that I was…

Is this healthy?
Hello everyone, I just have a quick question. According to my goals I have to eat 1,500 calories, which I've been eating them all. I'm also hitting my macros and my only concern is my sodium intake, which sometimes is a little high. I let FitBit count my calorie exercises and since calories maybe a little overstated I…

Calf Injury, which Doctor?
Hello everyone, I will try to make my story short, so I don't bore everyone. I injured my calf, so I am not able to run anymore and whenever I walk I feel a sharp pain. I know that I need to see a Doctor, but my medical insurance totally sucks. I would like to see some sort of specialist (mainly because my family physician…

Treadmill routine
So long story short, I've started to run a couple weeks ago, my ultimate goal is to run a full marathon (hopefully the Chicago Marathon), but my immediate goal is to run a 5K (hopefully by September). Does anyone have an effective training routine in a treadmill? Has anyone had success training in a treadmill only? I know…

Who is looking to lose 1 lb?
Hi everyone, my name is Enrique, and I've been with MFP on and off for over a her, but this time I am starting to take things seriously. I currently weight 213 lbs, and I am looking to weight around 160 lbs, so I have around 50 lbs to go. I don't want to set my goals so high, so I instead of losing 50 lbs I'm trying to…
