I’M BACK ! : LOST, RE-GAINED (50%) and LOST it - Thank goodness
Started Nov 2013 at 405 pounds! Utilizing the MyFitnessPal app, along with exercise and healthy foods, I was able to hit 214 lbs by 2/2015 and swore I would NEVER go near 400 lbs again…and I DIDN’T. I gave away all my “fat” clothes and kept the promise to myself of put Feb 2015. My reward was a pre-planned “quality”…

REACHED GOAL Down 230 LBS (405 to 175) PHOTO

From 405 to 205 – That’s 200 pounds gone! We went out of town today to see a cardiologist, I hadn’t seen since last early last year. He was thrilled with my weight loss. My visit confirmed what I had noted on my scale at home this morning. I lost that last pound since my last “recorded” weigh-in…so it is official: “lost 1…

FROM 405 to 204 – Thank-you My Fitness Pal and friends
UPDATE: Two months ago, I was closing in on what I thought would be - my final goal of 212. As it happens – I decided to “jettison” a few more pounds. Yesterday, I weighed in at 205 (both at home & at the doctor’s office). This morning the scale read: 204. [My original waist was 60" -- yesterday I bought the size 36" pants…

More than happy with my Easter eating – thought I was going to chow down, so I left myself 1419 calories remaining yesterday (that included 499 extra calories from treadmill exercise). Easter morning I hit the gym and burned another 253 calories - so I could hit the buffet table with negative calories. As it turned out, I…

Mexican restaurant
I just thought I'd share this... Someone reminded me of Mexican food today and I thought of a Cantina Laredo gift card I have been holding onto for about a year. I tried repeatedly to get their nutrition info locally (and at their hdqtrs) to pre-plan eating, but couldn't get anything until a search turned up some info out…

Not exactly a recipe
Just had some breakfast fun saving myself for a lunch treat... The wind chill was around minus (-) 25 this morning … brrr … burned 412 calories doing 75 minutes of cardio exercises, including walking 3.1 for one hour. I took a food photo instead of having a decent breakfast – I wanted a piece of fried fish for lunch and…

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville
OK - I have never eaten at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville and have a lunch scheduled for next week. Any suggestions on food that won't be completely horrendous? I'm sure most of it is high-calorie. I won't be drinking, but could use a tip on the food items. Any input appreciated. Thanks

Morning fun...
MORNING FUN: I have a 40-something niece in LOVE with the Yankees. I always pretend to be a huge Red Sox fan. She posted a Yankee-fan cartoon yesterday and I responded with the same carton and changed the uniform from Yankee to Red Sox. She responded that I was “Officially Cut Off” – all in good fun! So this morning, I…

WHEN WILL I LEARN?
I had shared the following with some people today - and thought it might have some meaning to a few members here participating in the 2015 Challenge:- I often think of a poem my mother had hanging in our home. It was called: "When Will I Learn?" She had a framed "handwritten copy" compliments of my older teenage sister…

DOG as exercise partner...
Gotta love an inspirational scene like this – a reminder of our “potential” and as Debbie Macomber (Mrs. Miracle) said: “It’s all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just be sure to flush when you are finished." A dog is not only man's best when the owner is legally blind … he is his best bud, friend and…

NOT THE USUAL EXERCISE SONG - but great for reflection while walking
TISSUE ALERT - The song “Clouds” has been on my cell phone for well over a year. I listen to it often when walking (like early this morning). You might like it. (It’s worth watching “his story” it’s about 20 minutes with him and his family. "When faced with months to live, how do you say goodbye?" Like so many other…

Biggest Loser story today in NY Post
Like many people, I have sneaked a peek at “The Biggest Loser” show, to get a glimpse of the changes in people after they lose a lot of weight…but not for a second did I ever buy into the “The Biggest Loser” approach to weight loss. Reading this story (I bought the paper on a lark, at the grocery checkout), I had a hard…

Excellent Mayo Clinic article (MFP in a nutshell): “Despite all the diet strategies out there, weight management still comes down to the calories you take in versus those you burn off. CALORIE REPORTING AWARENESS (photo)
CALORIE REPORTING AWARENESS: Just an example on how we have to look out for varying calorie reporting. Yesterday, I bought Garden Lites Zucchini Souffle – The front of the package clearly states 160 calories – but if you scan the UPC code on the back of the box MFP picks up the old 140 calorie count. If you go to Garden…
