Yesterday,a neighbor stopped in to see our new heat/AC regulator.Anyway,he mentioned DH said I had some type of
On line infection. He looked & said it almost surely came from FB.He works as a specialist with such stuff.
DD talked me into signing up for FB,but never thought to use it.Was just “there” in list of apps.

Run Malwarebytes on your phone and computer. That should take care of any "viruses".

Also don't click on clickbait, ads, links in emails, etc.

Thank you. I appreciate your help. Also discarding .......seldom used sites.
“Saving” files etc has been cut way back.Just trying to keep junk away.
Have stopped clicking on strange sites altogether.
    Will see how it goes.

    - make sure you aren't in "administrator" mode, only "user". That way, executable files won't automatically be downloaded. My DH is administrator on all the PC's, and I am set up as user -- I'm the one who uses them 99% of the time. We've caught unwanted programs trying to be downloaded because I'm prompted for the admin password.

Still, nasty Trojans and Ransomware try to sneak through.

I have clicked on a few links on FB which did launched bogus warnings from Microsoft that my computer had been compromised, call a certain 800 number, etc. I immediately open Task Manager and delete the process from there.

And, I don't surf the web much anymore.

    Good luck!

About the Twelve Days of Christmas: Scandinavian tradition stipulates that Christmas Day is the first day of Christmas. This numbering is completely incorporated into the languages. In Norwegian, they even go so far as to call Christmas Day "first Christmas day". Both Swedes and Norwegians call Boxing Day "the second day of Christmas" and Epiphany is "the thirteenth day of Christmas". Twelfth night (as in Shakespeare's play) is the eve of Epiphany, which is a public holiday in Sweden (but not Norway). That means the 5th is a big day for parties. All Swedish schools and many offices are closed from Dec 23 to Jan 6. Life doesn't get back on track until January 7th.

Since you're supposed to celebrate throughout "Christmas", most people don't take their decorations down until after January 6th (but on the other hand, most don't put them up until well into December, many as late as Christmas Eve). But in Sweden, everyone agrees that you simply MUST pack up the decorations by January 20th, when Knut (Canute) has his name-day. There's even a rhyme for it: Tjugondag Knut, då dansas julen ut! (Twentieth day Canute, then we dance Christmas out!)

Tomorrow I'll be putting away the Christmas candleosg4qn97t7ui.jpg
but the window star and the glass vase with the string of white lights will stay UP and ON until daylight comes back in late February. Up here in the winter dark of the Arctic, we NEED those extra points of light.

That's interesting! My father's father's (my grandfather) side of the family is from an Eastern Orthodox part of the world, while my mother spent quite a few years growing up in a Norwegian community (in Canada), and even though she is not Norwegian, she and her parents adopted some of the traditions. If I'm not mistaken, opening presents on Christmas Eve is a Norwegian tradition.

So both sides of my family have adopted the tradition of continuing to celebrate Christmas into January. :)

KJ- can’t pm you. It said I need your e-mail address. I need to cancel my Wednesday commitment by tomorrow if Wednesday is going to work for the TX girls get-to-gether. Let me know ASAP if you have heard from the others.

Wendy, thanks for the Jack LaLanne post. Watched his TV program when a kid and remember he urged all to get active and substitute fruit for sugar. Believe he was nearly vegan, only eating some egg whites with his fruits and veggies. He closed every show singing "May the good Lord bless and keep you..." A warm memory.

My German/Austrian Mama's New Year's traditional food was pickled herring for good luck. Sounds Scandinavian doesn't it?. I would never eat it. Bony fish, sour cream, onions... YUCK!

Joe took the dogs and me to Arch Rock Viewpoint. The views were marvelous... until I spotted pretty red berries... on brown sticks... near shiny green-turning-red leaves of three... LEAVE IT I shrieked at the dogs. Wiped them down with a dry towel in hopes the oil won't transfer to us. The poison oak and the stunningly stinky toilets mean we won't be back. The inside of my mouth itched all the way home.

6 pages still to go, back after doing dishes.

My husband is Scandinavian. Our last name is very Norwegian. We opened family gifts on Christmas Eve until the kids grew up and moved out. Now we wait until we can be together. Sometimes it is still Christmas Eve, but this year it was Christmas Day.

Karen, I like “missing link”. I’ll have to consider that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Heather, I’m sure it puts your mind to rest having heard from your friend. I hope she gives you her friends number.

Welcome newbies. Hope you continue to join us.

Wendy, I’m sure your new business adventure will work out great. You are such a hard worker.

Spent the whole morning cleaning my side of the basement. It was a lot of work and I probably didn’t do my wrist any good but I’m so glad I did. I now have all my craft items organized so I know where everything is and can get to it. It has been driving me crazy every time I was looking for something.

I’m giving myself one more day then I’m getting back on track with my eating. I’ve put back on about 5lbs and that is not the direction I want to go.

One more day and it’s a new year. I wonder what 2018 will bring. Well time to read. Whoever was talking about putting the coin on the window sill for financial prosperity I’d love to hear more. We could use a little of that next year.

Well time to get my book.

    Hi all...

My dad died Wednesday morning, and I've been in Houston since the 15th. I'll get back to normal habits eventually.

Hope you are all well and staying warm.

    Very sorry to hear that!
