Success/struggles of the week: The weather has warmed up a bit, so I've been able to go out and exercise! Hope it stays above freezing for a while here. Struggles.... I had lots of snacks in the house last week that I had a difficult time resisting. Fortunately, it looks like they didn't do to much damage to my weight (but they did affect my self-esteem!).11 -

I finally reached 1 mile swimming and also started a Master swim class. I have to get up earlier than usual but I survived lol! I'm enjoying watching the Olympics and get a charge watching training or warmup clips that show these amazing athletes doing the same exercises I've done lol.

Sucesses/Struggles: I just realized I didn't check in on here Monday. Really busy week. Lots going on. I'm almost to mid-range where I'd like to concentrate on staying if the merry o round would just stop so I can get off. Even though it's mid-February, I'm hoping as the weather gets a bit better, the more moving I'll do. I'm just super unmotivated in the winter. I'm sure I'll get very motivated when my shorts don't fit! LOL
I've decided to stop weighing everyday, and just weigh on Sundays. The flucuations were started to mess with with my head.
I'll talk to you all next week. I hope you are all kicking butt and taking names.12 -

Successes/struggles for the week: We have had a lot of snow. My husband took the tractor out and cut a path for me so I could run. I must have been getting a little antsy. It's a bit of a challenge, but very satisfying!

Success/struggles of the week: No work (teacher) this week as schools here are on the half term break so my daily step count was much reduced. Am really pleased I managed to keep up with the morning exercise regime and avoid the mindless snacking. Kept really busy with my own kids and got lots done. But...
Struggles: I’ve possibly been too rigid. Definitely feel like I’m still not relaxed about maintaining. Came in under on most days despite upping intake and told myself I’m banking for the weekend. Shows on the scale today. I’m conscious that there is a difference between “eating lighter, then enjoying the weekend” and “restrict/binge” cycle. And I’m not sure I’m quite falling on the right side of the equation at the moment..12 -

Successes of the week: Good work week. Didn't finish all of them, but attempted workouts. Going to try my slightly heavier hand weights again, but staying away from the ankle weights.
Challenges of the week: Tried banking to cover Valentine's Day the other day and an upcoming birthday dinner this weekend. Had trouble with the compulsive eating, so made the deficit with more steps. Arthritis is even crankier now.

Success/struggles of the week: I tried intuitive eating this week, and it didn't quite work for me. Trending higher than I have in a long time. Maybe this is where my body wants to be? I don't know, but I'm going to go back to tracking for now. Had my annual physical this week - my doctor told me I was the first patient this year to be diagnosed as perfectly fine and healthy! Well, that's something at least.
Today is Chinese Lunar New Year, which my son loves to celebrate. So we will be having Chinese food, even though the sodium levels are not good for me (I am super-sensitive to sodium). Have already mapped out the foods on the menu with the least amount of sodium - I need to stick to my plan. Wish me luck!12 -

slow bulking! LOL
Success: I have been learning about trending weights. Thanks to all the good folks here! Also trying to stay active and lift!
Struggles: Tried cutting cals back, body just flipped out! Brings a lot of precedence to BF set point! LOL Coming to terms with the need for weight gain. Seeing a therapist about body image issues. Yes, I know I am a guy and that sounds sad, but it is what it is. Plateaued in the gym this week. I need more rest I guess.

Success/struggles of the week: Still sticking with the mindful eating approach. Wow... I eat a lot less for lunch now by stopping when full than I was when I calorie counted.... had to adjust what I put in my lunch bag to keep from wasting food.
But on the flip side, I snack like crazy at night now. Think I need to add a snack between lunch and dinner to help with that. Idk. Having fun experimenting and seeing what works/doesn’t work.
Scale went down a bit so perhaps I’m starting to figure it all out. Too soon to tell after only a couple weeks. Weighing on the body weight scale every day definitely keeps me in check though!

The new WW continues to work for me. Yay. Crossing fingers that it continue. Average 2 lbs a week loss for 3 weeks. I find it way easier than when I was on for 3 months in 2011. That also worked, but I was much more hungry-it was much more effortful- I could sometimes get cranky, and would fill up on bananas and fruit rather than a much smaller and longer lasting soy yogurt or smoked salmon. Back then, with great effort and more exercise I lost slightly less than a pound a week average over 10-12 weeks.
Activity remains a challenge at present. I went running for the 1st time in ages, at the suggestion of my 60 something I think Asian medical doctor acupuncturist. I was putting hold on running to protect the joints, but he said he thought running gently was ok, and recommended 3 times a week. I enjoy it largely. But it was hard and SO SLOW yesterday after months without it. It feels good to get heart rate way up and to be outside doing that intensely. It's relatively quick and easy too, compared to getting to a gym or pool. I don't mind about the slow too much. It usually changes a bit with time, though I will never be Speedy Gonzales.
I was totally tired after though. Hopefully that will change with getting back into it. So I give this past week, out of 5 starts, **** for eating and weight loss, ** for exercise. I lost plenty and ate fairly healthily, but could surely improve the content of some meals, or the balance.

Success/struggles of the week: Don't know where my post from last Sunday went maybe I forgot to hit submit. Staying steady with the weight. I'm well below my range although still a little freaked out when I saw the small gain. I'm only adding around 50-75 calories more per day. My maintenance goal is 1500 calories per day and I'm averaging about 1250-1275. I will do that again this week and see how it goes. I'm still weighing and logging all my food and liquids .

Success/struggles: UGH! I am not happy today at all. First time in over a year that I have been above my goal range. the most baffling thing is that I was very good with my diet this week, and I worked out everyday. I actually have no explanation for it and it's really annoying. What makes it worse is that I had already RSVPed for an Indian meal today, which was going to be my one fun/cheat meal, but now I'm just going to be feeling guilty all evening. So obnoxious. Whatever tomorrow is another day and another week.10 -

@microwhisper - be kind to yourself. We only have one life to live. That Indian meal and the memories you can associate to it will mean more to you in 10-15 years than the exact (and arbitrary) body weight number on a scale at any given time. I urge you to enjoy your time with friends - you have the discipline and tools to get back to business tomorrow.
Best of luck - hugs!5 -

The wait at Longhorn was over an hour, so elder son went with a second choice to celebrate his 20th birthday. Ended up at Governor's, where I was able to get a lighter dinner than I would have at longhorn (garden salad and broiled scallops.) I don't regret stealing fresh kettle chips and fries from everyone, but do feel I ate the dinner roll just because it was there. Brought my own light margarine, salad dressing, tea, and potassium salt, plus hard candy so did make some good choices.
Also bypassed the bakery cases on the way out as family loaded up on treats. (Snuck a nibble of a chocolate dipped macaroon though.) Went in search of "candy bar" halo top, but it's always sold out. Had two helpings of caramelized peanut butter oatmeal with pb and dark chocolate chips, and a few white ones. I was still over for the day, but not as badly as I would have been at the original restaurant. If I hadn't binged on Valentine's Day, the week would have ended at maintenance instead of over.10 -

Successes/struggles of the week: A planned “out of bounds” day on Valentine’s Day as hubby and I made a Chicago style stuffed pizza together. It was sinfully delicious. Logged a set amount of 3500 for that day, prob was close to that anyway. With that out of bounds holiday, I averaged 1530 cals a day this week.8 -

Success/struggles of the week/month: I bounced up to my upper limit this past week. No biggie tho. I am going to actually learn to handle this like an adult instead of a child. The scale has a LOT more fluctuations in maintenance than in losing for sure! 30 more days until the Solstice. It's been gray and drizzly and dreary here this month and no sun expected until March! Still struggling with the HUNGRIES!!! I think it's related to SAD. As a result my running has been great, but I don't feel in control with my eating yet. Unlike in the past tho I am working on not reacting by restricting and beating myself up. I am going to think of maintenance like a HUGE freighter ship which changes course and speed very very slowly. I think I can turn the slowly climbing weight around slowly with attention to detail. Instead of immediately going and throwing all the food I might binge on away I have now decided that if I am going to binge, it doesn't really matter as I will find something so I need to stop that throw food away temptation/reaction. And of course keeping myself accountable and logging and weighing which so often when I am on a yo upwards I just throw the baby out with the bathwater when if I was just persistent for a few days I could get back on track. Just thoughts. It's extremely helpful to read everyone's updates - successes and challenges alike. It makes me feel like we are all part of a huge team pulling together to be successful.11
