Still slowly ramping back up. The good news is I'm not in pain the next day. The bad news is every run seems like a chore. I hate the new shoes. So much so, I bought the pair that was my second choice at the running store to see if they were any better.
I feel for you on the perfect shoe search. I rotate 5 different pair of running shoes. 1 pair I actually hate and can't wait till I have enough miles in them to justify retiring them. The other 4 pairs I like certain things in each shoe. If I could deconstruct each one & put the parts back together into 1 Frankenstein's monster running shoe. I'd have exactly what I want. Don't think that's gonna happen.

I rotate 11 pairs... some I love and can't retire even after 800+ miles... but all of them are great shoes. ... keep searching. .. it's easier to find a shoe that won't hurt you than a woman who wont...lol

    9/12 - 5.02km
    20/12 - 4.27km

Leg finally felt good enough to run! Only a short one, don't want go out too hard and bugger it up completely! And oh the humidity! It was so muggy :o
My calf started to make it presence felt towards the end of the run.....not pain, more a gentle pulling in the muscle......so will slowly build back up to the time/distance I was doing over a couple of weeks I think.
It was good to get back out there!! :D

Good luck with the shoe quest! I don't have room to rotate 11 pairs like Lonewolf but I do have 3 right now that I rotate and will add in a 4th pair in January. I also have several that I no longer run in but use for walking around or running on the beach if I don't go barefoot.

I came back from my run today (8km, one of my longest) and jumped straight in the pool. It was beautiful.

Now I'm curious - how does a cult sponsored run look like? I'm kinda imagining black-cloaked figures as spectators, chanting and waving incense... :D

Today I got into a real thunderstorm, with thunder and everything. The first flash of lightning startled me enough that I put my left shoe in a deep puddle of mud (completely soaking it, of course), and made me decide that maybe the nice park with all the old trees was not the best place to be. So I had to turn around after 5k and head back on boring, tree-less concrete streets...

5 miles today. It didn't go super but I have been feeling under the weather for most of the week so I am just glad that I was able to make it through it. I have done a half marathon before using run/walk intervals but I have never run 5 miles straight before.
