I do eat it- but I don't eat it regularly- so I don't keep it in my house.
    - I'll eat it if we do bagels at work- but since I don't do bagels at home- it's usually only in my house for cooking/baking.

I don't like bagels, so I'll just fashion a fake bagel out of cream cheese, then glare out people like a conquering emperor as I eat it.

If I could figure out how to preserve it, I should market it as a paleo bagel.

Can you deep fry cream cheese? Surely someone has done this before... at a state fair or something? I guess that's what fried cheesecake is, and I think I've seen that before...

I only make chocolate chip peanut butter cookies and oatmeal raisin with walnuts. I tried making turtle candies yesterday and totally screwed up the caramel part. It never solidified. I now believe the recipe when it says to wait for it to get to 240 degrees. I got impatient and pulled it off the fire to soon. I've never made candy before. Does anyone that makes caramel often have any tips?

Deep fried cream cheese is easy.

    Freeze.
    Batter.
    Fry, fry, Clarice.

No cookies yet for me. We bake and decorate cookies on Christmas Eve at my house. We are doing gingerbread zombies this year.
    This sounds adorable!

    Why not together?

I bet you a mole chicken cookie would be delicious. Or caramel candied fried chicken skin on a caramel cookie.

There's a bakery in Boston that made a beautiful malasada once, tore it open, added orange marmalade and braised lamb. It was amazing.

chicken bastilla is a lebanese dish I like to chow down on- little bit of sweet and savory.

I still think it's amusing how the original post was about resisting holiday cookies and we've totally hijacked this thread to become a discussion of different types of cookies, recipes, cultural traditions, etc....

I make that shizz for days. I just found a small halal market in my redneck berg, so I'm hopefully going to get some kibbeh.

Nice. I'm too lazy to make my own- but I know where to get it ;)

BF's mom is getting me her coffee at some point (YAY ME) and whatever she mixes with it.

You definitely have to find that right place- nice thing- the place I work has a small store attached to it- so I can get most of what I need for stuff like that.

Totes. OP wanted a cookie but didn't want it badly enough to justify the calories so she ate a pineapple lifesaver instead.

If I ever get to the point in my life where I think a pineapple lifesaver is an appropriate substitute for a cookie, then someone just come put me out of my misery please.

    Plus cherry>pineapple ALL. DAY. LONG.
