All these camping ones are cracking me up. We're in the middle of our monsoon season and all camping and kayaking trips are on hold for a while. I can handle a little rain (not as well as Calvin's dad, apparently) but thunder and lightning scare the bejesus out of me.In that kind of downpour, how long before the canoe is full of rain?

On Saturday, we had a relatively epic storm... hail, heavy rain, thunder & lightning... When we lost power, I went outside and cleared the assorted leafs etc from the storm drains along the street. When I came back inside, my son asked if I thought it was prudent to be outside during such conditions. I said it was better than getting flooded.1 -

This reminds me of a Peanuts cartoon where PigPen offers Charlie Brown a jellybean... and when PigPen digs the jellybeans out of his pocket, he discovers all of them are black... although they didn't start that way...
