It's possible to have a decent mug of coffee while camping. Pitch your tent next to your favourite franchise!

This is the reality of rain gear... by the time you realize you need it, chances are it's too late...

"Thongs" ... I can tell this 'sis from a different era!

(He's referring to footwear, not undies or bikini)

Poor Hobbes... He really does look miserable which is odd since many tigers like getting wet.

I've gone camping and ended up getting rained on like this... I can't think of polite words to describe it...

Why bother drying off if it's raining? I used to love to run around in the downpour!!

In that kind of downpour, how long before the canoe is full of rain?

Right? Not sure any bilge pump could keep up with that downpour.

All these camping ones are cracking me up. We're in the middle of our monsoon season and all camping and kayaking trips are on hold for a while. I can handle a little rain (not as well as Calvin's dad, apparently) but thunder and lightning scare the bejesus out of me.

On Saturday, we had a relatively epic storm... hail, heavy rain, thunder & lightning... When we lost power, I went outside and cleared the assorted leafs etc from the storm drains along the street. When I came back inside, my son asked if I thought it was prudent to be outside during such conditions. I said it was better than getting flooded.

I wonder where Hobbes found a dry paper notebook?

I'm not a fan of divorce threats but it's almost justified in this case... almost...
