Wtf? This is a gym... Why are you push pizza on me? Do we have black tar heron Friday?
Because you can incorporate pizza into your diet and still lose weight/be healthy. It's all about moderation.
Yes, but serving it AT the gym is beyond ridiculous. But, they are a for-profit business, so whatever it takes to get memberships and people in the door they'll do it.
Wait, what? Why is the source of the food an issue? Must what you do in one building be completely separate and distinct from what you do in another?0 -

Eat what you enjoy and get new friends if it bothers you that they like to eat fast food and would like to spend time with you while enjoying said foods. The fact they are overweight is irrelevant.
Harold and Kumar love White Castle and aren't overweight either0 -

Same building...but preferably different room...because logistics.
And yes, I would be mad if you spilled my food. I like food. Food is delicious.0 -
i think I have stronger feelings about getting gym bits in my food than having food bits in my gym.0

The CICO crowd would get a kick out of this...our local fitness club has teamed up with Fit Fresh Foods. I am sure both will make a killing this year.

Why is that the go to opinion for some people on this site?
in the end, we are ultimately responsible for what we do to our bodies.anaisbutterfly7 wrote: »Muddy_Yogi wrote: »You could just admit you have no will power.
Why is that the go to opinion for some people on this site?
because admitting that is one of the first steps to making a real difference and many people would like to skip facing that reality - even though facing it is the best possible idea.
and we all know that recognizing a problem is the first step to correcting it!
I don't disagree.
So...why would anyone assume that is the OP's (or anyone's) problem whenever they say something like this?
If someone refuses to go near a restaurant with friends to spend time together for a social outing because they cannot guarantee that they won't eat badly, it seems as though they dont trust themselves to make the right decisions and would sacrifice time with people they care about instead.
we see this all the time on MFP
"I cant spend time with my girlfriends anymore because they go to restaurants that serve unhealthy options."
whereas someone who spends time and effort working on building their willpower would say something along the lines of, 'my friends and i are going out to eat tonight, and they want fast food so Im eating before I go out! that way if Im tempted, I wont overdo it!'
the connection to lack of willpower is made by noting whether an OP is scared of themselves overdoing it. if you are scared you are going to go nuts, it's because you don't trust your self-control. And not having enough self-control is hand in hand with not having enough willpower.
that's all.
there's also nothing wrong with diagnosing yourself as willpowerless!!! sucking at something is the first step toward being kinda okay at something!
no one can look down at you for being honest with yourself either :flowerforyou:
True! My response of "sure, I'll come! I might not order anything though since I am [not hungry] [watching my money since last month was bad] [not digesting great today] [eating out later too]" has treated me very kindly, even with typical food pushers. There's nothing wrong with going along and simply not eating.0 -
anaisbutterfly7 wrote: »To me it doesn't seem like the OP is scared. It seems like he is annoyed that his friends aren't respecting his boundaries. I am annoyed that some people on this forum want to jump straight to "the OP has no will power"
And also, if I went somewhere during my lunch hour and didn't eat, I would be annoyed and hangry, and frankly what a waste of time, sitting in a fast food craphole NOT eating?? Maybe if your friends are professional dancers who plan to put on a show for you while you sit there being hungry? But it sounds like they'd be eating...
I don't go places I don't want to go because I'm an adult who makes my own choices, not a middle schooler desperate for attention. My friends don't care if I skip a lunch or dinner here or there. They know we'll hang out soon and do something better than eating sliders. They do what they're gonna do, I do what I'm gonna do, and somehow we manage to still be friends. Even though we're different!

May be ridiculous, but really, all things in moderation, even if it is served at a gym. I think people can eat pizza and still stay within healthy calorie amounts. Moderation is how we can achieve weight loss and, hopefully, sustain the loss
It's hard for me to workout when Im surrounded by overly powerful smells, whether it is perfume or pizza.
BO must be a real problem for you then.
I havent smelled BO in years. I go to a gym with a really clean clientele and I dont have any issues with food or perfume smells there.
^^Really, no one sweats at your gym/spa?, cuz every gym, ymca, etc that I have been in has the smell of sweat and/or dirty socks, as an underlying smell, & permeates the building. Even the brand new Y in our town (opened this past fall) has it already. Kind of like hospitals and nursing homes have a certain smell. JW, what gym do you have your membership at? This is the only thing I dislike about going to the gym, the smell.

To compare yoovie's gym and a Y...(even the newest of Ys)...is to...uh...compare things that aren't really comparable.
Generally, people who shower daily and wear clean clothes for each workout won't reek-up a gym...and at least a certain percentage of "regular" gym-goers and Y members don't follow these guidelines.0 -

It might be different if this was a once in a while, special occasion and you wouldn't be flexible. But eating at restaurants of some kind is really common for a lot of people. You have every right to make your own choices about what you want to eat. If it's someone's party, go if you can. If not, it's really not that big of a deal not to go, assuming you get to see your friends at other times.0

I don't see how it's ridiculous. It's a well-balanced meal… carbs, protein, and fat. You need to fuel your body both before and after the gym. People can grab a slice before (if working out on a full stomach doesn't bother them) or they can grab it on their way out.0 -

Uh… yes they do. Maybe yours doesn't but most PF's have barbells.
I have a membership at PF, the YMCA, and my university's gym for this particular reason. My Y doesn't have barbells, but the PF I go to does. My Y doesn't have a calf extension machine but my PF does. PF has a cable crossover and pulley but the Y doesn't. I love having memberships at 3 different gyms because each one gym doesn't have everything I use. So when I'm training a specific muscle group, I'll go to the gym that has what I need.

My run will be be far better fueled by the lean protein, whole grains and fruit I ate today than by anything I could have eaten at White Castle.
I mentioned performance in a diff post.
Database here says just over a 1,000 but anyway.
I didn't read anything about principle and I wouldn't expect anyone else in the office to have that type of knowledge about your diet/exercise routine to know when to ask/not ask you out for lunch
It's not the fact that they asked. It's the fact that they were told no and thought they could continue to ask & push & guilt trip. No is a complete sentence.0 -
