General question: do you prefer working out in the morning or in the evening? Or does it matter to you?

I find I have a much harder time motivating myself to work out in the evenings, after my regular work day. I'm taking the "evening workout slot" though because my husband really wants the morning time (we use a stationary recumbent bike for cardio). I trust my commitment enough that I know I'll be ok switching to evening workouts, it just requires soooo much more motivation/effort. :)

I go to the Y to pick things up and put them down whenever I can fit it into my day. If I am feeling particularly ambitious I might trot around the track for a mile or two. I like to walk up and down the hills around my house at night. Usually 10 or later. I listen to a book instead of curling up on the couch and reading one. When I am done, I take a shower then stretch, stretch, stretch. Although my hair is usually a frightening sight when I wake up in the morning, the plus of this is I am sleeping much better. Better than I have in years.

For a non-scale victory, I can sleep on my stomach again. :)

So, I need to tell a sweet hubby story since everybody else is.

I love to go dancing. Hubby can not find a beat. He signed us up for private dance lessons so he can dance with me.
Last night was the first lesson. This will be a fun little diversion for us.

OMG I would be SO excited!

Spent over $100 on groceries, went to Taco Bell right afterwards.

I used to do this every time I went to the grocery store. It took junking my car to break me of that habit! I haven't picked it up again, knock on wood.

Confession: We do go out to eat right after (or before depending on how we feel) grocery shopping. :flushed:

We usually do too. Who wants to shop hungry, or cook when you've just spent all that time shopping?! Not me.

We went shopping this week while I was hungry... I bought all the foods! At one point the mancreature looked at me and was like seriously!?

Sidenote: did y'all know there is oreos yogurt?! My inner fat kid nearly died with excitement when I saw them and then my mind was like NO YOU CANNOT HAS!

We make the WORST food choices when we shop hungry. We try really hard not to do any kind of grocery shopping before we eat.

Last night, we had to go to Target to get a baby shower gift for a shower tomorrow. I was fine with that because I was under the impression we were going to eat directly after (I only had a quest bar for lunch and then some cottage cheese for a snack, so I was pretty hungry) so no big deal. Mr. Mo takes FOREVER picking stuff of the registry and I was getting properly irritated with him. We finally choose what to get and head out. Instead of going to eat, he pulls into Lowe's parking lot. I was really annoyed at this point, and throw a little temper tantrum and say, "I knew we should have eaten first!" and slammed the car door. He just stared at me in total disbelieve.

I'm like the Incredible Hulk in a way, except, it's you wouldn't like me when I'm hangry, instead of angry.

I get the same way. In part of your head you KNOW you're being unreasonable, but you have no control over it.

This is EXACLTY me! Mr. Mo even said, "Is someone hangry?!" He already knew.

I'm glad Sgt. Sexy Pants will say this to me. If I start getting 'crazy' in texts, he send me a picture of a bag of fritos or something and it's like, "Oh yeah! I need to eat something. Sorry!" :disappointed:

I think this thread is rubbing off on me IRL. My co worker had a new shirt and capris on today and I actually told her that she looked super great in them

Busted out laughing. Like cracked UP at work.

Okay so now that I am ALL caught up and we have stopped the 'discussion' I think I can sum it all up here.

    * Colleges need to stop charging us so much to further our education. We should all be able to follow our dreams and let's face it, teachers don't make squat here and they spend a LOT of time in school.

    * If/When minimum wage goes up, those who already HAVE degrees should have their salaries go up proportionately. Degrees take a lot of time and you should still be compensated for that time.

    * The owners of businesses(particularly large ones) should take the hit to their profit margins and personal pocket books and not raise the prices of anything else in an attempt to compensate for the loss in profits.

ETA: And all pizza and burgers should be worth >200 calories per serving. :innocent:

@crosbylee @LBuehrle8 thanks guys! I promise it wasn't a conscious decision to jump ship, I'll keep checking back in when I can :) yeah I keep telling myself at least I'm still at it and as my jobs relatively active at least I'm not sat on the sofa all day (although I know it's no substitute for exercise! Hi from page 1246! Im reading and trying to catch up, it may take a while.

I miss you guys. I have been having a bit of a rough time. I'm seeing a trend of this as I read through. I hope everyone is doing alright, and I will check in as I can.

What's wrong? I hope everything is ok......

Everything is OK. My mom had back surgery, and then a few days later had a stroke. She is alright, but her brain still isn't working quite right. She had a heck of a time trying to explain things to the ER, and my brother (who was with her at the time) called my sister instead of me.No one called me at all until like 4 days later. I had no clue.

My sister went to the hospital, and before she left, she dropped a bag of drugs somewhere in the exam room. When my mom tried to leave the hospital the next morning, cops were waiting outside to arrest her, because when the hospital staff cleaned her room, they found a bunch of heroin. She was super upset and scared about her brain issue, and then almost got arrested. She was banned from that hospital! I mean, really. Does no one have any common sense? I swear to goodness that I was switched at birth.

WTH? Are you same the person whose sister used your name to get out of trouble with the law?

I'm so sorry your mom not only had to go through all of this with not only the surgery/stroke, but with your sister getting her banned from the hospital.

I have to say that I'm amused right now. I'm taking my niece and nephew to yard sales tomorrow and one of the ones we are going to is advertised as being Super Great!

@Glinda1971; hopefully, you can find some super great things!

What do you usually look for at yard sales?

I usually go for books and purses and jewellery. Now that I'm losing weight I may look at clothes.

Today we are looking at fishing stuff because that's what the kids want. And now my dad is coming too, I think more to spend time with the grandkids and help them get good fishing stuff. He can't fish anymore, he has bad hips and knees and sitting in the boat all day isn't good for him.

After we do the five I've picked for the kids, we are going to one that's been touted as the lazy girls yard sale. They've cleaned out their closets and have dresses and purses and jewellery. Emma will like it too I'm sure, Joey and my dad, not so much.

Evenings. I've gotten up early several times and I do feel great after, but I just couldn't keep it up. Even days where I don't work I can't seem to muster up the energy to do a workout or go for a walk until about 5:00 pm.

I prefer mornings, but now I've seen a bear, I won't go out when it's dim and lonely out there. Years ago I used to live a block away from curves and I used to get up, wash my face, brush my teeth and hair and walk there to do the circuit.

Now I walk whenever. It's hard after work when it's hot and sticky and I'm tired though.

I'm joining a hotel gym for the pool and weights this winter and hopefully they open early enough so I can go on my way to work. (I start at 7:30).

Ok, I am just getting ready to leave for work, but I could not sleep much last night so I need to get something off my chest.

I tried very hard to let this argument go yesterday and then when I came home and saw new replies from someone new, I got very worked up again. I started to type a reply but realized I was so mad by that point, that if I did, I might have gotten the thread shut down, so out of respect for you guys, I stopped.

However, last night was another one where I tossed and turned, I got up at 3am to go pee, and right away it was on my mind and well over an hour passed before I read enough to get it off my mind that I could sleep again, so, to preserve my own sanity, I must say something. I get obsessive about things that bother me, and hyper focused because of my OCD.

As I have said before, I am very passionate about certain subjects (I believe we were talking about race that time?), anything that is considered a social injustice really gets under my skin, regardless if it affects me personally or not.

This topic, does not affect me personally, but on an emotional level it does. I do not like to see people work hard and still not be able to get by, in one of the richest countries in the world, that is a sin.

I feel the people that are against this, as selfish and ignorant. They all seemed worried about their own wages, even if they were getting by alright, and did not care that someone that worked just as hard as them, could not even get by at all. It was even implied, more than once, that these people do not work as hard, and that is a load of crap.

Like I said before, when it went up here where I live, it does not affect my wage, however, it does affect the wage of the lady at the coffee shop where I get my tea each morning. Perhaps my tea does go up ten or twenty cents.....that does not affect me anywhere near the amount that the increase in wage benefits her at payday, so I am all for that.

The OP of this subject made a nasty, demeaning and ignorant comment about fast food workers. Yes, I said something snarky back in my first reply. I am not sorry. There was no need for him to be so rude about the subject in the first place.

For anyone saying this is not a social injustice, you are wrong. Anyone that works 40-60 hours a week in one of the richest countries in the world and cannot afford to eat regularly and afford to pay rent is basically a slave. If you do not see that as unjust, you are either very far in denial, or a moron.

With that I must leave for work. I was really stuck last night on what to do. Part of me wanted to put this argument on blast, and part of me wanted to just leave the thread, the group, the whole lot of it, because of the amount of stress this argument has caused me. I did not want to do either, but after not sleeping well again last night, I also could not do nothing. Sorry to those sick of reading about this, when I got home last night I did not plan on posting any longer about it, esp as I thought rungirl1973's last two comments summed up a lot of what I was saying too, but when I saw new replies, I just could not keep my mouth shut, that is just not who I am.

@Italian_Buju It feels like you completely missed my post that summed up what everyone, to my interpretation, was saying. Since you missed it, here it is again:

Okay so now that I am ALL caught up and we have stopped the 'discussion' I think I can sum it all up here.

    * Colleges need to stop charging us so much to further our education. We should all be able to follow our dreams and let's face it, teachers don't make squat here and they spend a LOT of time in school.

ETA: And all pizza and burgers should be worth >200 calories per serving. :innocent:

Now, let's let this go before I explode this thread with pictures of kittens, puppies, and brownies.

I confess, I work nights and I WILL stay up ALL DAY to do this if it will save this thread.

One of my cousins ended up not showing up until WAY late to relieve my mother of her care giving duties. So my mommy didn't get to leave until almost 9 PM! It's a 4 and a half hour DRIVE! My mommy had to drive AT NIGHT in THE DARK after she had already been awake since 5 AM!

Confession: I want to have words with this cousin. and by words I mean fists....

Confession: I did a Combat class last night, and my fitbit counted some (probably a lot of) punches as steps.

Confession #2: I don't feel bad about this.

Hey you were still moving:D. How many steps did you end up getting?

I ended up getting over 20,000 for the day, a first for me. I'm not sure how many were racked up in the class though. I figured even if it was counting punches, there is quite a bit of foot movement too, so it's gotta still count!

You did awesome today. Great job!

Thanks! I think it'll be a while before I see 20,000 again lol
