Wednesday and I still cannot get used to Mildred beagle NOT being with us.
I made a list for shopping yesterday (50Km round trip) and I know I forgot stuff.
I keep expecting her to jump on the bed in a morning, give me a doggy kiss, to tell me time to get up mummy, play time.
I walked round the garden after breakfast, and hope she walked with me saying look at pretty flowers mummy.
I go to her grave and tell her all my news, I feel her near me looking at me and wondering why I cry.
I put $50, what I would have spent on her food, in the car account, as her present to us each week.
We are going for a drive to Deloraine, walk round town and have lunch.

    Happy Tuesday ! ! !

I had a very busy weekend at bowling alleys, but I have finally caught-up on reading all the posts. I was able to maintain my willpower and avoid all "bowling alley food", so that's a NSV for me. But DH took me to the Casino for buffet and pai gow on Valentine's evening, so that was a struggle (and slight, temporary set-back).

DS did well Saturday at H.S. bowling, and his team finished in 2nd place (no one was able to mark in the Championship match :s ). Then he did better Sunday at Junior Gold Qualifier, and won a spot at Nationals. Which means bowling season doesn't end until mid-July for us.

Sylvia - it seems odd to me that your Humane Society would have a "black cat" special so close to Halloween, since the one where I used to live in Minnesota didn't adopt-out any black animals the entire months of October or November. It was explained to me that too many people adopted black cats at that time of year for "bad reasons". I pray that is never a worry for any animals anywhere.

I'm still amazed about the "snowblower I see people use, or gag-gift shovel" stuff. Since I have lived my entire life in the Upper Midwest, I would never be without. In fact, when Dad and I bought our Duplex (several years ago in July), we went out and bought 2 new snowblowers (big for him and DH, small for me and DS to use) & 4 shovels (different sizes and shapes). We also start buying salt in mid-September, and try not to have fewer than 4 - 20 pound bags all winter, and the generator gets it's gas replaced every Spring. And the opposite of that, I will start stocking up on sunscreen and bug spray soon, too.

Mary from MN - Thanks for the pep-talk about the excess skin. My loss is very slow, but that tummy bulge is getting jiggly-er every week. It's nice to know it should eventually shrink. I enjoy looking in the mirror to see a dark blue tree trunk, as opposed to the over ripe blueberry that used to look back at me (I wear dark blue pants and matching vest to work as my uniform).

The RA is getting worse in both knees, so I'm using the hand bike to exercise this week. I can't find it on the MFP calculator, so I'm using the regular bike numbers it gives me; I hope they are close to the same. I feel silly sitting on that thing moving my arms in circles, but nobody seems to notice. I hope I start seeing some definition in my arms soon; that will help the attitude for sure.

Everyone who lost fur-babies - Hugs and prayers !

Everyone else - You are all in my thoughts and prayers, I just don't have the memory to remember everything I wanted to say, but thank you for being my friends <3:D

My day at work is coming to a close, so I better get going on my bookkeeping.

    Hugs to Everyone ! ! !

Terri in Milwaukee (+17 degrees, so I probably won't wear a hat to the car. But expecting negative numbers by Thursday).

Lesley - I absolutely believe Mildred beagle walks the yard with you, and licks at your tears. It is still very soon, so expecting her to jump on the bed still is normal. Here is a big {{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}.

leslie, it's going to take awhile... give yourself time. I had 2 other pooches when we put rocky down but we had that done at home not at the vets. the whole family was there, meaning the other 2 dogs (the one on the right and the one on the left in my profile pic). I didn't want them searching for him if we would have taken him to the vet so when we did that at home, they had time to look at him, smell him and give us time to take him to the crematorium. he is now in our cabinet with his collar and a lock of his hair. it will be 3 years on may 5th and even though I have the other 2 and now the new pup, I think of him often and we still miss him terribly. give yourself time... hugs to you.

Terri, our humane society is VERY strict about who can adopt. They check references, call your vet, and do home visits and the whole shebang, so I think they know who is adopting for the right reasons. When we got our last shelter dog we joked that it's easier to get a home loan than to adopt a dog. I do think they have more trouble placing the black dogs and cats though.

Well, I spent most of the day at the studio working on drafting. I'm done for the day. Hubby came up earlier and loaded my kiln for me, so I didn't have to lift shelves or bend over to reach inside. What a sweetie! So, the last of the bowls for the school are in the kiln now. Fingers crossed that they all survive.

I totally forgot to go pick up the kids from school! I was just mortified when my son called and asked if I was going to pick them up. I was already 20 minutes late and the school had called him. When I got there they were sitting in the office waiting. Grandma was tardy! I turned off the alarm on my phone when I was in the hospital and forgot to set it again. It's set now.

So, now I'm waiting around for the guy who is teaching the kids class, just to check in and let him know I'm still alive, then meeting hubby at the mall for dinner.

    Good night everyone!

    Sylvia

Yanniejannie: Thanks for offering the sweet potato pie recipe. I’ll be looking forward to it. Congratulations on Gemma. I hope she fits herself right in to your family.

Newbies: Welcome! The more often you stop by and post the sooner you will get to know people.

Sally W. in Oregon: My DDIL is a Pilates instructor and gave me a pilates infused yoga DVD for Christmas. I’ve looked at it and tried a few moves, but it is beyond my skill level at this point. I’d like to hear more about your class as you go on. :flowerforyou:

Carol in NC: Calling the police was a good idea. I’m glad they shut down the racket for you. Don’t wait so long if it happens again.

Vicki: Good luck on the job front. One day at a time is an excellent motto.

Sylvia: This is a fun picture of Molly. I like it!

Mary from MN: Congratulations on your success!

Lesley: Continued sympathy and good wishes for you. Losing a beloved pet is so difficult. I still feel the loss of my dog, Sucia, and it has been almost 9 years. We have another dog and he’s lovely, but she was a real character & will never be forgotten.

DH and I drove to the coast today and basked in the warm sunshine on the beach. I didn’t expect so many other people because this isn’t a weekend, but the State of Washington is having their winter break and the beach was full of people walking and playing with children, friends and pets. It was a good day.

1056287i3zmwzup2m.gifWhen I walk my dogs I stop several times to hug and kiss them to not lose sight of the fact that today is important and that they won't always be with me.

smiley-happy020.gif Today I had a visit from my friend who had a stroke a few years ago and with great practice has regained the ability to speak albeit with great difficulty. Spending time with her requires that I listen very carefully to everything she says because it is difficult to understand her. Her visits make me a better listener. Her husband is battling cancer and they don't know from day to day what the next treatment will be and yet she is one of the most considerate and busy people I know. She finds time for all that needs to be done along with eating three weighed and measured meals a day with nothing but no calorie drinks in between. She is a great inspiration and example that life and stress don't have to drag a person down.

smiley-sport017.gifI did my strength training after dog walking, breakfast, and shower, and before my friend came. This is the third time this month which is not quite up to my resolution of twice a week but better than last month.

It's my first time here so I would like to say hello to everyone! I've been. dieting for a couple of months, have lost 13 lbs, with water PT and exercise. My daily calorie count is 1200 and I have been quite a bit less than that for the four days that I've joined this routine. I feel better but am still in pain much of the time so this is kind of frustrating. I love being able to count everything the carbs and protein and I really think that this is going to help me!

    Hello ladies,

I just wanted to give everybody a little incentive to keep exercising and eating healthy. To date I have lost over 30 pounds with 25 to go and 57 years old. I had written on here in the past that I was having trouble with loose and elephant skin. I also had an issue with cellulite. I am excited to tell you that by continued exercise and healthy eating my cellulite is diminishing and my skin is tightening and looking pretty good. So there is hope out there that our bodies will regenerate healthy skin cells. Muscle is replacing fat. I have also been on the 8 hour diet and according to them by fasting and exercising first thing in the morning it initiates the fat burning in our bodies. It also turns on what they called the health gene. Which is supposed to help restore our bodies. And a little prayer as well could have been why I am seeing such an improvement. Well time to go and get back to exercising and housework!

    Have a good day everyone!

    Mary from Minnesota

Thank you Mary for sharing your story. This is very encouraging to me.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding.

*Mary, so glad to hear about your skin improving. That’s great for you and hope for all of us.

*Terri, when you talked about looking in the mirror and seeing blue, I was trying to figure out what kind of skin condition you must have. :o Glad you went on to tell about the uniform.

    * Katla, it sounds like a glorious day, crowds and all. What most of us would give for a beach day. B)

*Shelley, welcome to the group. You will find this a very supportive and informative group of ladies. Congrats on your loss and good luck for more to come. Come often and join in.

I really haven’t wanted to exercise the past two days after being off schedule all last week, but once I started it was not too bad. I love it when I force myself to do something good that I really don’t want to do. Now if I could just figure out a way to get the temperatures back up to normal, life would be grand. It’s still going to be in the teens at night for the rest of the week. That’s c o l d for us. Best wishes to all of you in the really terrible weather.
Welcome to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

My word #1 is savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.

#2 is opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

    Good morning from Hampshire UK!

Woke up at 4 am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep with the jetlag and DH was snoring, so I'm in the spare room catching up with you all. :flowerforyou:

The journey home was hitch free, but still a very long haul. No problems though and we were very glad to arrive home safely and have a nice cup of tea. Calories were way over on the journey, even though I left a lot of the airplane food on the tray, so I will wait for the big weigh in another day. I hope the damage is not too bad and temporary. I tried very hard with the food cals, but the last few days the alcohol ones tipped over. It's that "End of the holiday, I've been so good I can relax a bit" loophole!
I will enjoy getting back to the machines this morning.

While I was away a friend of mine, that I met when I went on an Odyssey week for cancer sufferers, emailed our group to say that her cancer is currently doing better and she would like to meet up. We are trying to arrange a day near her to get together. She has the most amazing courage and has survived much longer than anyone thought. She write a blog called Lindsey In Extra Time. I will have to apply my jetfudge brain to a date.
Also my schoolfriends are arranging a meetup for the end of May. We may be without one of our number, as she has commitments with ill parent etc, but three of us have booked rooms for two nights in a nice hotel. All the organising was done while I was away. Ain't email grand!

Joyce - it's a trip to York. Viv, I remember you live there. :flowerforyou:

So today will be: exercising, laundry (!), sorting things out from the suitcases, shopping for food, downloading photos etc. Must check what I've recorded on the HDD.
I woke up this morning wondering what hotel I was in and wonderful where the bathroom was. Couldn't orientate myself at all! It usually takes me quite a while for the sights and sounds of a big holiday to fade, especially from my dreams and waking state. Usually as long as the holiday itself. It was a great experience with some really stunning highlights and a huge learning about a very different culture. We are so greatful to our guide/driver Rasi for giving us so much information on the background to the country. We were quite upset when we had to say goodbye at the airport. What a great guy! We have his email etc so will be able to keep in touch.

Oh well, better try for a bit more sleep! :yawn :

Glad to have made it home Heather in chilly Hampshire UK

Lesley - Mildred beagle was part of your family so it is normal that you will be grieving her for quite a while. Our Louie went tragically last May a few days before my birthday. He was quite a character and local celebrity. I still get asked about him often. We have our Chico now but will forever miss Louie9sjjhwk23uf3.jpg

Really need a more recent photo of Chico because he is quite fluffy now.
Doc appointments tomorrow and maybe a few answers? or maybe just more tests. Also have the appointment with Brooke, my weight loss nurse, so I will be doing my weigh in. Not expecting great results because I have been doing very little. Hoping to feel good enough soon to get back to being more active.
Court date for DS is coming up very quick. One week from today. He is very nervous and stressed out. I try to be supportive as I think he is an excellent Dad. We are trying for it not to be the only thing we talk about. He took DGD swimming on Saturday, park on Sunday and to the Family Day celebrations yesterday. He has a lot of support here and we do feel that she will have a good life here.
Made a healthy supper of tilapia and steamed veggies but DH wanted Fries and I yielded to that. A bit more healthy because I did them in the oven?
This is my year and I am going to seize it.

Did an hour of Kelley Coffee Meyers DVD 30 Minutes to Fitness Cardio. We have a Newcomer board meeting tomorrow so I'll just do a step DVD at home.

Washed a load of clothes this a.m. after exercising, made some more of the chocolate bran muffins. I really didn't need them QUITE yet, but I knew that I would soon so while I had to be in the house, I made them. Then made more of the low fat cornbread muffins (thanks jb) for me, and some sweet potato muffins to take to FL. I'll give some to Dick and Karen along with a piece of the chocolate pound cake and then some of the muffins to Mel when I go see her. She lives 6 months in Port St. Lucie and 6 months here in Hickory. She's such a sweet lady!

We got a few inches of snow. The bad thing was that it turned to freezing rain and since there wasn't much snow, it went thru to the bottom. So this am Vince and I went out to shovel the snow away from the garage where it doesn't get much sunlight at all. I so much did NOT move to NC to shovel snow, just letting you all know. But now you can see the road. I went to Aldi and then to WalMart because they're supposedly calling for another inch or so tomorrow. The schools around here are already closed (these wimps!). The snow isn't supposed to star until 1. I decided to get to the stores before the next snowfall and the entire city comes to a screeching halt again....lol

katla - hope your knee is good as new soon

    Joyce
    - Melody is SOO adorable

strawbc - I find that if I'm doing some sort of craft that keeps my mind active and my hands so I don't want to eat, mainly because if I get what I'm working on dirty I know who'll have to wash it. I guess I'm just lazy.

Which reminds me, the laundry I did this morning is still in the dryer. I really need to get it out and put away so I can start packing for FL. But I'd rather be here.

Picked up some audiobooks on Monday before we went bowling, I'll get another one tomorrow when we go for the board meeting

thlavalee - when Lexi came to us, she had a dislocated hip. I'll try to post a pic of the way she was bandaged.

    Gayle - welcome!

Judy in PA - we love having you here, so stop by often

Sylvia - my condolences to your friend. Our Humane Society is quite strict, too, on who can adopt a pet. But as far as I know they don't do home visits. They DO call your vet.

    yanniejannie
-congrats on the new addition to your family

    tebbertrevalee
    - welcome! Congrats on being a cancer survivor, losing weight, and everything else. I do hope you write that book. What will it be about?

Sally - glad you enjoyed the PiYo class. Sounds interesting.

Sharon - I have this set of placemats that are for Christmas. I am learning how to work in the round, not doing too good at it. Anyway, I've been working on these placemats (it's supposed to be an easy pattern) for I guess about 10 years now.

Toni - when we were moving to NC, I remember Vince didn't think we'd need the shovels and he laughed at me for wanting to bring them. Today he was glad we'd brought the ice pick. We just didn't bring the snow blower

Mary from MN- WOOHOOO on that fantastic loss! You go girl!

Terri - thanks for the reminder that I need to start stocking up on the sunscreen. I think I only have about 3 more tubes in the house. Do you take any meds for the RA?

barbie - your friend sounds like such a wonderful person! How lucky you are to have her in your life!

Shelley - welcome! Be sure to come back often. What kind of pain are you in? If it's hunger, don't consistently go below 1200 calories. Stay warm!

Heather - hope you meet up with your friend. Have fun with your schoolfriends. You have a lot of time to get prepared for it. So glad you're home, but I have to admit, that I'll miss the stories of your adventures.

Took the laundry out of the wash and started packing for FL. Not finished yet, but just started.

    Michele in NC
