    I read the books and by the 2nd one I was saying to myself "ok, I get it, you like each other. A LOT!" I sadly read the 3rd one that had a glimpse of a plot about 10 pages before it ended. I read the movie spoiler online for it and asked a friend who saw it and it doesn't sound like something I'd be interested in.

    I have not, and will not, see the movie. The book is a horrible misrepresentation of the BDSM community and merely glorifies an abusive relationship. I will not put my hard earned money into supporting such a thing.

    I'm not knocking anybody wanting to have sex while on their periods. Do it if you must. But having the guy actually take the tampon out for you? Is that supposed to be sexy? To me, and to a lot of others it seems, that crosses a line. My man doesn't wipe my *kitten* when I poop either.

    Read the books, though poorly written, still enjoyed the story line.
    The movie was pretty good, followed the book, showed more than what I thought they would.
    It's not mean to be a porn, so if you go to watch it for that purpose you will be disappointed.

    Kind of dumb. Sex book, barely even BDSM. If most of the women who read the book knew about actual, hardcore BDSM, they would not be interested in it whatsoever.

    I read it back in the day as a fan fiction and almost died when I found out that's what it was. Now you can get rich for writing a Twilight smut piece. What a world.

    It does, in fact, promote non consent and abuse. It is an inaccurate portrayal of a CONSENSUAL BDSM relationship. Don't see it.

    Ok, I ran across a blogger that was reviewing the book one chapter at a time. This person is heavily into BDSM, and knowing what I know of it, he's pretty accurate in a lot of his descriptions. The thing that got me was yeah, it started out making fun of it. But halfway through, he commented that it was getting harder and harder to make jokes about it because he found it sad. Apparently, E.L. James got a LOT of things wrong about the location and other odds and ends that probably could've been avoided with a simple Google search. But he said the one thing that she gets consistently right is the description of an abusive relationship. And reading the quotes he pulled out, while I'm sure some are out of context, it's scary to read with that in mind. I'm not saying it's going to influence people all over the place. But calling what looks to me like an abusive relationship normal is very sad and little scary.

    And even if you don't believe that or don't see it or don't think it's a big deal, what snippets I've see are just bad writing in general. Even the sex scenes. The Harlequin Romance novels have better writing for the sex scenes!!! Seriously, if you want to read porn, there's lots better out there. Some of it even free!


    Now, I'm sure the movie is different. It would have to be, really, otherwise it wouldn't be showable to the general public. But that doesn't make it better. You can put glitter on crap, and it's still crap.
