    Went to see Chappie this weekend. All I can say, I was very very disappointed. If Neil Blomkamp doesn't watch out, he will become the next Renny Harlin. The one-hit wonder director.

    I don't really get why people insist on comparing them, as in my view they are completely different genres and therefore it doesn't make sense to compare them:

    Star Trek is clear science fiction. Advanced tech, set in space, science is in keeping with most of what we know about physics today. There is no magic in Star Trek, nor is there any room for it.

    Star Wars is space-based fantasy (or science fantasy as is becoming the popular term). Some advanced tech, but most of the wonderment comes from The Force i.e. magic, which is innately present in some lucky people and defies the laws of physics as we know them. The half-hearted attempt by Lucas in the Trilogy That Shall Not Be Mentioned to explain The Force took away from the story, whereas if someone explains the science in Star Trek it enriches the storyline.

    Both are good examples of their genre and I like both of them.

    I am re-reading (for the 5th time) the Trek Novels (Vonda MacIntyre, The Wrath of Khan).
    GREAT reading, Fantastic scenarios, and such great characterisations.

    I'll always love star wars like the popcorn I imbibe while watching, great greasy momentary fun.

    But Trek, that's long lasting.

    Try the Darth Bane novels. Well written Star Wars novels.

    I was ok till the last movie. Was so dissappointed after he killed the dragon. I mean, all that built up from the previous movie, just to kill him off after 20 minutes? Could've done that at the end! Also, it got boring right after that. Even the big battle at the end was just so familiar.
